  • Pregnancy Outcomes in Individuals With Long COVID. [Journal Article]
Obstet Gynecol. 2026 Aug 27. [Online ahead of print]Metz TD, Sandoval GJ, … National Institutes of Health (NIH) Researching COVID to Enhance Recovery (RECOVER) ConsortiumOG
  • CONCLUSIONS: A classification of likely Long COVID was not significantly associated with preterm birth or several other adverse pregnancy outcomes. However, the association with hypertensive disorders of pregnancy in the average treatment effect among the treated analysis highlights the need for further research.
  • [Update guide on pediatric multiple sclerosis]. [Review]
    Medicina (B Aires). 2026 Aug; 86 Suppl 3:172-176.Garcia R, Quiroz Saavedra A, … Savransky AM
  • Multiple Sclerosis (MS) is a chronic, immune-mediated demyelinating disorder of the central nervous system. Approximately 10% of cases present before 18 years of age, constituting paediatric-onset MS (POMS). Compared with adults, children with MS exhibit higher relapse rates and shorter intervals between the first event and subsequent relapses, yet generally demonstrate better recovery. The lates…
  • [Autism - Phenotypic variability]. [Review]
    Medicina (B Aires). 2026 Aug; 86 Suppl 3:48-53.Ruggieri VM
  • Autism is a neurodevelopmental disorder with a neurobiological basis, affecting 1 in 31 people, with a male predominance (3.8 to 1). Characterized by deficits in social cognition and communication, restricted interests, and stereotyped behaviors, along with sensory processing difficulties, this condition accompanies individuals throughout their lives, with variations in its progression. According…
  • Prognostic factors in pediatric head and neck rhabdomyosarcoma: a 30-year retrospective study in Brazil. [Journal Article]
Braz Oral Res. 2026; 40:e052.Maglia DR, Souza BDAF, … Visioli FBO
  • This study aimed to evaluate the survival outcomes of pediatric patients with head and neck (HN) rhabdomyosarcoma (RMS) treated at a reference center in Brazil, comparing them with those of patients with non-head and neck (NHN) RMS. Additionally, it sought to identify the clinical-pathological variables, histological subtypes, and antineoplastic therapy regimens that significantly influence patie…
  • Normative values and predictive equations of hand-held dynamometry for upper limb muscles in healthy adults. [Multicenter Study]
Braz J Med Biol Res. 2026; 59:e15416.Nepomuceno Júnior BRV, Oliveira FTO, … Gomes-Neto MBJ
  • The aim of this study was to establish comprehensive normative values and generate robust predictive equations for isometric upper limb muscle strength using hand-held dynamometry (HHD) in healthy adults aged 18 to 80 years. A cross-sectional multicenter study was conducted with 210 healthy volunteers aged 18 to 80 years. Participants were rigorously screened to exclude cognitive impairment, acut…
  • Screening for undiagnosed hyperglycemia in patients with periodontitis: a cross-sectional study. [Journal Article]
Einstein (Sao Paulo). 2026; 24(spe3):eAO2397.Gouveia FNA, Galvão PEBDS, … Barbirato DDSE
  • CONCLUSIONS: The Finnish Diabetes Risk Score is a practical, non-invasive screening tool for predicting the risk of undiagnosed dysglycemia in patients with periodontitis in dental settings. Its high sensitivity supports its use for risk stratification; however, positive findings require biochemical confirmation. These findings underscore the role of dental professionals in early disease detection.
  • Temporal changes in pediatric tuberculosis incidence in Rio de Janeiro (2010-2023): An analysis using the Joinpoint model. [Journal Article]
PLoS One. 2026; 21(8):e0356811.Diniz ALN, Gonçalves CP, … Júnior SCDSGPlos
  • CONCLUSIONS: Despite a decline in the number of reported cases, There was an upward trend in tuberculosis incidence among children and adolescents between 2020 to 2023 in Rio de Janeiro State, coinciding with a decline in development indicators. Although definitive causal relationships cannot be established, the observed patterns reinforce the need for robust epidemiological surveillance tailored to age-specific characteristics, as well as targeted interventions.
  • Redefining Fitness in Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia: A Treatment-Specific Framework forthe Targeted Therapy Era. [Review]
    Oncology. 2026 Aug 27; :1. [Online ahead of print]Al-Asa Apos D Y, Alshemmari SH, … Yassin MAO
  • CONCLUSIONS: A treatment-specific, individualised fitness assessment - rather than an age-based or aggregate comorbidity score - is the appropriate framework for CLL in the targeted therapy era. Most patients, including those with lower resilience, are candidates for targeted therapy; the clinical imperative is to match each patient to the treatment best suited to their specific fitness profile.
  • First-Attempt Articulation Error Counts and Digit Span Scores in Japanese Preschool Children: An Exploratory Cross-Sectional Study. [Journal Article]
Folia Phoniatr Logop. 2026 Aug 27; :1. [Online ahead of print]Yamasaki S, Nagami S, Shiomi MFP
  • CONCLUSIONS: In this small exploratory sample, first-attempt articulation error counts showed an imprecise inverse association with KABC-II Number Recall scaled scores that was compatible with no association. The findings should be interpreted as preliminary and hypothesis-generating and should not be used to infer clinical severity, mechanism, or diagnostic implications. Larger studies with age-balanced samples, formal hearing screening, and phonologically motivated task designs are needed.
  • Unmasking Type 2 Diabetes in an Aging Mexico: Trends and Disparities by Sex and State-Level From the GBD 2021 Study. [Journal Article]
    J Diabetes Res. 2026; 2026(1):e7886367.Dávila-Cervantes CA, Agudelo-Botero MJD
  • CONCLUSIONS: The burden of T2DM among Mexican adults aged ≥ 55 years shifted from higher rates among women in 1990 to slightly higher rates among men in 2021. In 2021, women experienced a greater disability burden, whereas men had higher premature mortality. Marked subnational disparities and heterogeneous state-level trends suggest uneven epidemiological and health system transitions, underscoring the need for targeted, sex-sensitive, and region-specific strategies for chronic disease prevention and management.
