- Perspective/Short Review: Diagnosis and Treatment of Aggressive Vertebral Hemangiomas and Review of 2 Cases. [Review]Surg Neurol Int. 2026; 17:519.SN
- CONCLUSIONS: Aggressive VH are rare lesions that most frequently occur in the thoracic spine. Notably, the subset of Type IV lesions that extend into the pedicles, laminae, spinous processes, and epidural space may cause symptomatic myelopathy/radiculopathy warranting early surgical intervention to optimize neurological outcomes.

- Microsurgical resection of a pure third ventricular craniopharyngioma through an interhemispheric transcallosal transforaminal approach. [Case Reports]Surg Neurol Int. 2026; 17:544.SN
- CONCLUSIONS: Although there are reports of purely intraventricular craniopharyngiomas resected through the endonasal route, traditional transcranial approaches remain the standard for tumors located entirely within the third ventricle. Although this case was treated before routine molecular testing and targeted therapy became standard, modern management now requires a multidisciplinary strategy integrating microsurgery, radiotherapy, and targeted therapy with BRAF (B-Raf proto-oncogene, serine/threonine kinase) and MEK (mitogen-activated protein kinase kinase) inhibitors when appropriate.

- From Malaise to Oral Pain: A Case Report on Oral Mucosal Melanoma. [Journal Article]Case Rep Dent. 2026; 2026:4381566.CR
- Oral melanoma is a rare form of melanoma that typically presents as a black-brown macule or nodule with variable pigmentation and occasional depigmented areas. Oral melanoma typically affects the maxillary gingiva, palate, and retromolar trigone, and tends to be aggressive with high propensity for distant spread and poor prognosis. We report a patient with metastatic visceral melanoma who, upon p…

- Anastasis: an unwelcome guest in cancer therapy. [Review]Apoptosis. 2026 Oct 03; 31(10).A
- Anastasis is a newly identified cellular recovery process that enables cells to regain viability after progressing into execution-phase apoptosis. In cancer, this process may allow tumor cells to survive transient cytotoxic stress and subsequently acquire more aggressive phenotypes, including enhanced migration, invasion, and resistance to therapy. Although anastasis has attracted increasing atte…

- Comparing NCCN-based risk groups to the PROTEUS definition of high-risk localized prostate cancer to inform peri-operative care. [Journal Article]Urol Oncol. 2026 Oct 03. [Online ahead of print]UO
- CONCLUSIONS: PROTEUS criteria, which may be cumbersome in clinical practice, identified a smaller, overlapping, but nonidentical high-risk population compared with NCCN criteria. There were no statistically significant differences in postprostatectomy oncologic outcomes between both definitions. These findings suggest that PROTEUS eligibility criteria represent a more restrictive trial-enrichment definition but may not meaningfully improve discrimination of adverse outcomes relative to standard NCCN high-risk classification.

- Chronic cohabitation with CD1 male mice induces anxiety-like behaviors, reduced spontaneous alternation, dysregulated HPA axis, and disrupted sleep architecture in C57BL/6J female mice. [Journal Article]Brain Res. 2026 Oct 03; :150567. [Online ahead of print]BR
- In contrast to the well-documented phenomena of inter-male aggression and competition in nature, the long-term consequences for females involuntarily exposed to persistent male-initiated social threat remain inadequately understood. In the present study, we demonstrate that C57BL/6J female mice co-housed with CD1 male mice for 14 days developed anxiety-like behaviors and cognitive deficits, witho…

- FOXM1-mediated transcriptional activation of CILP2 promotes malignant phenotypes and EMT-associated remodeling in clear cell renal cell carcinoma. [Journal Article]Pathol Res Pract. 2026 Oct 02; 288:156702. [Online ahead of print]PR
- CONCLUSIONS: These findings support CILP2 as a candidate prognostic marker and a contributor to malignant phenotypes in ccRCC. FOXM1-mediated transcriptional regulation of CILP2 is associated with EMT-related remodeling, whereas the observed immune- and stromal-related associations remain exploratory. The clinical utility and therapeutic targetability of the FOXM1/CILP2 axis require validation in larger prospective cohorts and more physiologically relevant models.

- Rediscovering Kaposi Sarcoma in North Africa: Thirteen years of HIV-negative cases and survival insights from Morocco. [Journal Article]Cancer Treat Res Commun. 2026 Oct 03; 49:101466. [Online ahead of print]CT
- CONCLUSIONS: HIV-negative Kaposi sarcoma in Morocco is characterized by elderly onset, frequent advanced-stage presentation, and significant clinical heterogeneity. The observed biphasic survival pattern and notable rate of secondary malignancies or suspected visceral involvement of Kaposi sarcoma underscore the complexity of disease behavior in this population. These findings highlight the need for earlier diagnosis, improved risk stratification, and further studies exploring host susceptibility factors, including potential genetic and immunological determinants.
