Traditional definitions of gender dysphoria (GD) reflect a binary, body-centered understanding of distress, often neglecting the influence of social and cultural contexts and failing to capture the lived experiences of transgender and nonbinary (TNB) individuals-especially nonbinary people.

The rapid workplace diffusion of conversational artificial intelligence (CAI) introduces a new social actor, yet existing reviews often neglect the intrapsychic processes through which employees construe these systems. This systematic review synthesizes the emerging psychological mechanisms suggested by the literature through which CAI reshapes the employee experience. Following PRISMA guidelines, we searched the Web of Science database (up to February 2026) and analyzed 84 SSCI-indexed studies based on the sociotechnical systems theory, the Computers as Social Actors paradigm, and the Job Demands-Resources model; the corpus quality was appraised using the Mixed Methods Appraisal Tool. Findings reveal that while instrumental framing remains dominant, a meaningful theoretical turn has emerged among a minority of studies, where conversational artificial intelligence is increasingly conceptualized as a partner or supervisor fundamentally driven by anthropomorphic cues. The synthesis identifies a double-edged reshaping of work: cognitively, human intelligence augmentation competes with skill threat; emotionally, constant support contrasts with social fabric erosion; and career-wise, inclusion coexists with work alienation and generative AI loafing. These dimensions are psychologically coupled, with patterns indicating that cognitive threats co-occur with emotional anxiety and moral expediency. While limited by cross-sectional primary evidence, the review provides an integrated conceptual model illustrating proposed conceptual pathways that connect multi-layered antecedents to employee outcomes, which could be adopted to guide future longitudinal validation. By shifting the focus from productivity to psychological experience, this study offers theoretical foundations for human-AI collaboration and outlines a future research agenda on trust dynamics and algorithmic fairness.

Although achievement-oriented parental psychological control (APPC) has been associated with several forms of adolescent maladjustment, little is known about its relationship to disruptive behavior at school. Drawing on self-determination and social cognitive theories, this study tested whether academic self-efficacy and self-alienation mediated this association. A sample of 544 middle school students in grades 7 and 8 (grade 7: n = 341, 62.68%; grade 8: n = 203, 37.32%; 48.35% female) across 20 classrooms at a public school in a mid-sized city in central China completed self-reported measures of APPC, academic self-efficacy, self-alienation, and disruptive behavior. Path analysis revealed that APPC was indirectly associated with disruptive behaviors via academic self-efficacy and self-alienation. The findings highlight the importance of self-perception as a key mechanism linking APPC to adolescent behavioral problems, offering valuable insights for future interventions.

This study examined the relationship between digital capital and social alienation, conceptualized as a multidimensional construct, among undergraduate students in the United Arab Emirates. A cross-sectional survey design was employed using a convenience sample of 320 undergraduate students enrolled at a government-affiliated university in the Emirate of Sharjah, United Arab Emirates. Data were collected during the 2025-2026 academic year through a self-administered online questionnaire. The findings indicated high levels of digital capital and low levels of social alienation. At the dimensional level, meaninglessness emerged as the most prominent dimension of social alienation, followed by normlessness, powerlessness, and social isolation. Digital capital was significantly and negatively associated with overall social alienation and all of its dimensions, with the strongest association observed for normlessness, followed by social isolation, meaninglessness, and powerlessness. Multiple regression analysis further showed that digital capital remained significantly associated with social alienation after controlling for sex, age, and academic level (β = -0.61, p < 0.001), explaining 39.7% of the variance in social alienation. Significant differences in digital capital were found according to sex, favoring females, and academic level, with higher levels observed among senior students. No significant differences in digital capital were found across age groups, and no statistically significant differences in social alienation were observed across sex, age, or academic level. These findings suggest that digital capital may represent an important resource associated with lower levels of social alienation among university students within digitally mediated higher education environments. The findings further support the view that the potential contribution of digital capital extends beyond the acquisition of digital competencies and may be associated with broader processes of academic and social integration.

Self-stigma is a barrier to treatment-seeking among survivors of childhood maltreatment. Although brief online interventions have effectively reduced stigma toward mental disorders, few have targeted self-stigma among childhood maltreatment survivors, with none being tested across multiple countries. Here we examined whether a brief, social contact-based video could reduce self-stigma and increase help-seeking intentions across six countries.

The contemporary mental health crisis is increasingly described in terms of meaninglessness, fragmentation of identity, and spiritual disorientation. While empirical research in religion and health has demonstrated consistent associations between religiosity, spirituality, and psychological well-being, the underlying symbolic and narrative mechanisms that sustain these associations remain insufficiently theorized. This article revisits Rollo May's concept of myth as a foundational structure of psychological integration and examines its relevance for contemporary religion and health scholarship. Drawing on existential psychology, hermeneutics, and current research in the psychology of religion, the paper argues that myth functions not as archaic fiction but as a narrative matrix that organizes identity, values, and existential orientation. The erosion of shared symbolic frameworks-what May termed a "myth vacuum"-contributes to anxiety, alienation, and loss of coherence, thereby affecting mental health. The study develops a conceptual model linking mythic-symbolic structures to psychological integration, resilience, and meaning-making and outlines implications for clinical practice, pastoral care, and empirical research. By integrating May's existential insights with contemporary findings in religion and health research, the article proposes that mythic frameworks constitute a neglected but crucial dimension in understanding the relationship between spirituality and mental well-being.

Currently, medical liability regimes in numerous jurisdictions face common dilemmas and challenges linked to social justice. Issues such as excessive medical litigation, the pervasive practice of defensive medicine, and escalating doctor-patient conflicts have significantly negatively affected the operations of global healthcare systems, progressively eroding the foundation of social justice. This has prompted legislative bodies to reevaluate and reform existing medical policies and the structural framework of medical liability systems. The definition and allocation of medical liability require reexamination to prevent liability rules from disproportionately favoring either patients or physicians, thereby advancing the social goals of establishing a "doctor-patient community" and realizing "doctor-patient justice." The factual causation linkage between medical negligence and patient harm constitutes the core element and "control valve" for the establishment of medical liability, and this area requires continuous advancement in both theoretical research and practical application. This study adopts qualitative case analysis and interpretive theoretical methods as the primary approaches to investigate value conflicts, institutional deficiencies, and context-dependent practical significance embedded in typical medical liability cases. Comparative legal methodology is further employed to explore the root causes, impacts, reform paths and theoretical innovations underlying the alienation of medical liability. This article argues that within the framework of social justice, the "gap-filling principle" derived from tort law theory is insufficient to resolve entrenched doctor-patient conflicts, and the theoretical orientation needs to shift from an exclusive focus on damage compensation to the integration of multiple normative objectives. Proportional causation theory, constructed on the basis of the minimum likelihood probability principle, and the corresponding proportional liability provide groundbreaking insights for resolving the dilemma of determining factual causation standards in medical liability cases. This theory can be integrated with proportional liability under the causative potency doctrine, forming a structurally layered synergistic mechanism to reconstruct the proportional compensation liability for medical damage cases at the level of legal causation. The core solution to the social justice dilemma lies in establishing a dynamic and systematic medical liability regime that (i) clarifies the hierarchical relationship between patient damage remedies, medical professional freedom and social costs; (ii) strikes a balance among patient safety, medical innovation and liability accountability; (iii) realizes risk socialization through mandatory medical liability insurance; and (iv) explores diversified social risk-sharing and healthcare security mechanisms. Ultimately, this approach facilitates the coexistence and mutual promotion of interests among medical institutions, patients, the medical industry and the public.
