  • CONCLUSIONS: Iatrogenic vascular injuries requiring surgical intervention are increasing in Australia and New Zealand and represent a growing component of acute vascular surgical workload. Despite low amputation rates, associated mortality remains substantial, highlighting the need for ongoing surveillance, preventive strategies, and appropriate vascular workforce planning.

  • CONCLUSIONS: Hind-quarter amputations were associated with decreased lumbar bone quality, progression of facet degeneration, and loss of amputated side psoas muscle tone. Daily prosthesis use was moderately protective for lumbar bone quality following amputation. HP but not HD was associated with postoperative loss of amputated side quadratus lumborum tone.

  • CONCLUSIONS: Educational programmes were consistently associated with improvements in nurses' knowledge and practice regarding diabetic foot care. The findings suggest that healthcare training could be integrated with ongoing professional development programmes, emphasizing experiential learning. However, the very low certainty of evidence and predominance of non-randomized quasi-experimental designs limit causal inference. More rigorous randomized or cluster-randomized studies with standardized outcome measures, longer follow-up and patient-level outcomes are needed.

  • CONCLUSIONS: This study provides the first detailed description of the full range of UL injuries sustained in a U.K. military cohort and their long-term impact on UL disability. Participants with UL fracture, arterial, or amputation injuries reported greater levels of UL disability than those without. This study highlights the importance of considering non--amputation UL injuries alongside UL amputation injuries during the rehabilitation process to facilitate optimal long-term outcomes and potential return to service. This study is limited by the use of DASH, but ADVANCE will follow participants for the next 20 years providing increasingly rich information on UL injury outcomes. Future work should include a more focused exploration of certain UL injuries such as fractures, including their locations and any associated UL disability.
