  • Outcomes of Open and Endovascular Interventions in Octogenarians with Infrainguinal Chronic Limb-Threatening Ischemia. [Journal Article]
Ann Vasc Surg. 2026 Oct 05. [Online ahead of print]Rahgozar S, Zarrintan S, … Malas MBAV
  • CONCLUSIONS: Octogenarians experience substantially higher perioperative mortality across all revascularization strategies. In octogenarians with CLTI, ET was the predominant approach and was associated with lower postoperative MI risk compared to bypass independent of the conduit. ET had higher hazards of combined major amputation/death compared to SSGSV bypass, driven solely by higher mortality. The higher mortality in ET may reflect these patients' higher overall risk profile. Moreover, ET was associated with lower hazards of combined major amputation/death compared to AC bypass.
  • Application of a Behavioral Change Approach to a Pediatric Patient Undergoing Transfemoral Amputation. [Case Reports]
    Phys Ther Res. 2026; 29(2):172-180.Goto M, Fujiwara S, … Haga NPT
  • CONCLUSIONS: In this patient, increasing self-efficacy and improving motivation for prosthetic gait can be attributed to many interventions, such as continuous physiotherapy from before surgery, self-monitoring after surgery, behavioral goal-setting methods appropriate for self-assessment, interaction with other lower limb amputee patients, accumulation of positive experiences, and discussion of collaborative problem-solving methods. The combination of a behavioral change approach in physiotherapy for a pediatric patient undergoing transfemoral amputation was useful.
  • Advanced dressings and growth factors in surgical wound healing of diabetic patients: A narrative review of nursing implications. [Review]
    J Tissue Viability. 2026 Sep 28; 35(4):101059. [Online ahead of print]Shahdadi HJT
  • CONCLUSIONS: Successful management of surgical wounds in diabetic patients requires an integrated and multifaceted approach including careful blood glucose control, effective debridement, pressure relief, evidence-based dressing selection, and comprehensive nursing care in an interdisciplinary collaboration. Execution of this approach can significantly suppress serious complications such as amputation and refine the quality of life of diabetic patients. Despite significant progress, larger clinical trials are required to compare the efficacy and usefulness of different dressings and develop smart and personalized technologies.
  • Effective Interventions in Restoring Mobility and Relieving Pain After Lower Limb Amputation. [Journal Article]
J Orthop Sports Med. 2026 Sep; 8(3):273-289.Kim SS, Kim G, … Agrawal DKJO
  • Lower-limb amputation is associated with substantial functional impairment, chronic pain, and reduced quality of life, posing significant challenges for long-term rehabilitation and community reintegration. Despite advances in surgical techniques and prosthetic technologies, many individuals continue to experience limitations in mobility and persistent pain after amputation. This narrative review…
  • Occupational Injury Patterns and Safety Risks in Humanitarian Demining: A Systematic Review. [Systematic Review]
Disaster Med Public Health Prep. 2026 Sep 21; 20:e154.Hickson B, Lloyd ER, … Eisenstein NDM
  • The morbidity and mortality associated with landmines and explosive remnants of war remain a significant problem worldwide. Deminers exposed to these hazards repeatedly in their line of duty have not had their injury patterns adequately synthesized in over two decades and mine contamination continues to expand in modern conflicts.A systematic review was conducted in accordance with PRISMA 2020 gu…
  • Mechanical thrombectomy for post-thrombotic venous obstruction is associated with venous wound healing. [Journal Article]
J Vasc Surg Venous Lymphat Disord. 2026 Sep 19; :102625. [Online ahead of print]Mouawad NJ, Abramowitz S, … Marino AJV
  • CONCLUSIONS: In this multicenter retrospective analysis, all patients with post-thrombotic venous wounds were healed or healing at latest follow-up after MT, with a 91% mean per-wound area reduction. These findings suggest that MT-combined with standard wound care and adjunctive endovenous interventions as indicated-may play an important role in treating recalcitrant post-thrombotic venous wounds.
