- Quality divergence of Yunnan upland rice versus Jiangxi and Heilongjiang paddy rice revealed by physicochemical, sensory, volatile and metabolomic profiling. [Journal Article]Food Chem X. 2026 Oct; 39:104539.FC
- This study aimed to evaluate quality differences between Yunnan upland rice (YNUR) collected in Honghe, Pu'er, Nujiang and Qujing and paddy rice from Jiangxi and Heilongjiang by physicochemical indexes, taste analyzer, sensory evaluation, e-nose, and untargeted metabolomics. Compared with paddy rice, YNUR exhibited significantly higher amylose content (11.78-14.11%), lower expected glycemic index…

- InBody bioelectrical impedance research in clinical nutrition: a bibliometric analysis of trends, applications, and evidence gaps, 2002-2025. [Systematic Review]Front Nutr. 2026; 13:1896369.FN
- CONCLUSIONS: InBody-related research is expanding rapidly and shifting from device validation toward clinical application, particularly in geriatric and clinical nutrition. Three priorities emerge: (i) device-model-specific and population-specific validation, particularly under-represented regions; (ii) population- and condition-specific phase-angle reference ranges; and (iii) longitudinal and intervention-responsive designs rather than additional cross-sectional DXA comparisons. Addressing these priorities may support more consistent, evidence-based interpretation of InBody-derived body composition measures in nutrition and clinical practice.

- Evaluation of Different Methods of Haemoglobin Estimation Among Malaria-Infected Patients. [Journal Article]J Clin Lab Anal. 2026 Oct 12; :e70377. [Online ahead of print]JC
- CONCLUSIONS: The three methods demonstrated good agreement and broadly comparable Hb measurements. The findings support the practical use of portable Hb meters where point-of-care testing is required, while recognising that agreement does not establish diagnostic accuracy or analytical validation.

- [Skin resistance measurement in chronic gastrointestinal disorders and its correlation with visceral referred pain]. [Journal Article]Zhongguo Zhen Jiu. 2026 Oct 12; 46(10):1640-1644.ZZ
- CONCLUSIONS: The reaction points of chronic gastrointestinal disorders are primarily distributed at the body surface sites innervated by the nerve segments corresponding to their respective organs, and these reaction points exhibit reduced resistance, and the resistance change rate at these reaction points can be utilized to distinguish between mild and severe pain.

- Standardized Preparation and Characterization of Leukocyte-Rich and Leukocyte-Poor PRP Using PrecurCell® Kits. [Journal Article]Transfus Clin Biol. 2026 Oct 12. [Online ahead of print]TC
- CONCLUSIONS: The evaluated systems produced platelet-enriched preparations with distinct leukocyte profiles and no detectable residual red blood cells. These findings characterize the cellular differences between LR-PRP and LP-PRP and may inform further investigation of their application-specific biological effects. Functional and clinical studies are required to establish their therapeutic relevance.

- C-reactive protein (CRP) is a widely used biomarker of acute inflammation, particularly in paediatrics. Immunoturbidimetric methods are commonly used for CRP measurement; however, analytical differences between platforms may affect result comparability. This study aimed to assess the analytical comparability of two immunoturbidimetric methods implemented on different analysers. Fifty-one serum sa…

- Selective N-pyridinium derivatization for molecular characterization of neutral oxygenated compounds in fossil fuels by high-resolution mass spectrometry. [Journal Article]Anal Bioanal Chem. 2026 Oct 12. [Online ahead of print]AB
- Neutral oxygenated compounds (NOCs), including alcohols and ketones, constitute one of the most analytically challenging classes of molecules in the molecular characterization of fossil fuels, largely owing to the absence of selective analytical methods capable of detecting them at trace concentrations. Here, we report a selective chemical derivatization strategy using deuterated pyridine (D5-pyr…

- Structural and Microvascular Alterations in Macular Telangiectasia Type 2: The Diagnostic Value of Vessel Tortuosity. [Journal Article]Retina. 2026 Oct 12. [Online ahead of print]R
- CONCLUSIONS: This study highlights significant structural and microvascular changes in MacTel type 2, including macular thinning and reduced mean tortuosity. Additionally, the normal structural-vascular correlations were disrupted in MacTel Type 2, and different microvascular correlation patterns were observed in these patients. The identification of new vascular parameters may contribute to a better understanding of MacTel type 2.

- Reference Intervals of Hematological Parameters Among Healthy Pregnant Women in Eastern Sudan: A Prospective Longitudinal Cohort Study. [Journal Article]Int J Womens Health. 2026; 18:648322.IJ
- CONCLUSIONS: This study showed that CBC parameters vary significantly across trimesters and differ from international baselines. The second-trimester hemoglobin lower boundary of 9.1g/dL and late-pregnancy gestational thrombocytopenia need further validation in larger and more diverse populations before routine clinical use.

- Red Cell and Platelet Indices as Biomarkers of Poor Glycemic Control in Patients With Type 2 Diabetes: A Case-Control Study. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: Hemoglobin level, hematocrit, and mean platelet volume are significantly associated with, and can potentially serve as independent predictors of poor glycemic control. These routine, cost-effective hematological parameters could be incorporated into risk assessment and management protocols for T2DM in resource-limited settings.

- Associations of age and body condition score with automated platelet indices in mares. [Journal Article]Vet J. 2026 Oct 10; :106908. [Online ahead of print]VJ
- Age- and adiposity-related variations in platelet indices have been described in several species, where both factors have been associated with platelet number, size, and other platelet-related characteristics. However, comparable information in mares is scarce, and the associations of age and body condition score (BCS) with automated platelet indices remain poorly defined. This study hypothesized…

- Point-of-care testing (POCT) demands rapid, user-friendly solutions for instant medical diagnosis. Traditional colorimetric whole-blood analysis faces challenges from red blood cell and hemoglobin interference, often necessitating complex pretreatment. Herein, we introduce a three-dimensional (3D) nanoporous hydrogel-integrated portable platform designed for pretreatment-free, rapid multiplexed d…

- Principles and Practical Measurement and Control Strategies for Achieving Ultrahigh CO2 Capture Rates in Amine Post-Combustion Capture Plants. [Journal Article]
- This study presents a practical feedback control strategy for conventional amine post-combustion capture (PCC) plants that is capable of achieving up to around 100% added CO2 capture (i.e., the exit CO2 is equivalent to the CO2 in the combustion air) with moderate energy inputs. It has been demonstrated using MEA, but the fundamental principles appear to be more widely applicable. The method invo…

- A three-parameter complete blood count triage tool for monocytosis to prioritize hematology evaluation: development in MIMIC-IV and external validation in two independent cohorts. [Journal Article]
- Monocytosis is a common complete blood count (CBC) abnormality, but in non-hematology settings it may be difficult to distinguish reactive causes from patterns warranting urgent evaluation for acute myeloid leukemia (AML) or myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS). We aimed to develop and externally validate a simple, report-level CBC triage model to prioritize hematology assessment in patients with mono…
