- Simultaneous enhancement of sweet corn yield and lodging resistance via silicon application with low-phosphorus management under dense planting in tropical China. [Journal Article]Front Plant Sci. 2026; 17:1919054.FP
- Despite the recognized benefits of silicon (Si) fertilizer in crop production, the agronomic mechanisms underlying Si-mediated improvements in lodging resistance and yield stability under low-phosphorus (P) management in sweet corn remain poorly understood. To address this, a three-season field experiment was conducted using a two-factor split-plot design with two Si levels (Si0: 0 kg ha-¹ SiO2; …

- Repurposing thioridazine as a novel treatment for melanoma brain metastasis. [Journal Article]Cancer Cell Int. 2026 Aug 06; 26(1).CC
- CONCLUSIONS: Thioridazine demonstrates robust anti-tumoral activity in MBM cells in vitro while sparing healthy brain organoid tissue. Its cytotoxic effects appear independent of classical apoptosis and instead correlate with disrupted autophagic flux and altered lysosomal dynamics. These findings highlight thioridazine as a promising candidate for therapeutic repurposing in MBM and support further investigation into its autophagy-modulating mechanisms.

- Impacted Permanent Teeth in the Mixed Dentition: Pediatric Diagnosis, Surgical Exposure, and Orthodontic Traction. [Review]Cureus. 2026 Oct; 18(10):e117401.C
- Permanent-tooth impaction during the mixed dentition is time-sensitive because eruption potential, root formation, arch space, and relationships with adjacent structures change during growth. This comprehensive narrative review evaluated evidence concerning pediatric diagnosis, interception, surgical exposure, orthodontic traction, treatment failure, and post-treatment outcomes. - Ancient genomes of Sitka black-tailed deer show evidence for early postglacial dispersal along the Pacific Northwest Coast of North America. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: Our results reject the hypothesis of a distinct northern refugium for Sitka black-tailed deer and instead support postglacial divergence from a shared black-tailed deer refugium south of the Cordilleran Ice Sheet. The asynchronous retreat of ice and dynamic sea-level history fostered repeated dispersal pulses, localized isolation, and secondary contact, shaping the present-day genetic and morphological diversity of O. hemionus.

- Caring Contacts and Suicidality Among American Indian and Alaska Native Communities: A Randomized Clinical Trial. [Randomized Controlled Trial]JAMA Netw Open. 2026 Nov 02; 9(11):e2639023.JN
- CONCLUSIONS: In this randomized clinical trial of culturally adapted Caring Contacts among American Indian or Alaska Native adults with active suicidality, Caring Contacts did not improve suicidal outcomes beyond optimal available resources alone. Similar improvements in both groups may reflect regression to the mean, the therapeutic impact of compassionate baseline engagement with supportive community staff, or the active components of optimal available resources. Further research should explore these dynamics and other culturally grounded interventions.

- Prevalence of Rheumatoid Arthritis, Osteoarthritis and Gout among Alaska Native/American Indian Peoples in Alaska. [Journal Article]J Rheumatol. 2026 Nov 01. [Online ahead of print]JR
- CONCLUSIONS: Compared to U.S. or global population-based studies, the prevalence of osteoarthritis in AN/AI peoples of Alaska is similar, while the prevalence of gout is lower than expected and the prevalence of rheumatoid arthritis is high and similar to prior studies in this population.

- Three-Dimensional CBCT Assessment of Potential Orthodontic Mini-Implant Sites in the Pterygomaxillary Region and Pyramidal Process. [Journal Article]Orthod Craniofac Res. 2026 Oct 31. [Online ahead of print]OC
- CONCLUSIONS: The pterygomaxillary and pyramidal regions present sufficient bone dimensions and density for orthodontic mini-implant placement. These areas may serve as safe and biomechanically favorable alternative anchorage sites, particularly for maxillary molar or total arch distalization.

- Defining Osseointegration for Biodegradable Scaffolds based on Histological, Immunohistochemical and Ultrastructural Analysis. [Journal Article]Acta Biomater. 2026 Oct 30. [Online ahead of print]AB
- Osseointegration of metal implants refers to the formation of a direct, intimate, and stable interface between bone and the implant surface under physiological loads, without intervening fibrous tissue. This concept is largely based on the long-term fixation of non-degradable implants, where bone remodeling occurs around a permanent material. However, there is no equivalent framework defining de …

- In-chip volumetric printing of perfusable and stretchable collagen-I scaffolds for mammary tissue models. [Journal Article]Biofabrication. 2026 Oct 30. [Online ahead of print]B
- Engineered epithelial models require three-dimensional extracellular matrix environments that support organized cell growth and allow independent access to luminal and basal compartments. However, many organ-on-chip (OoC) fabrication strategies rely on planar geometries, nonnative materials, or multi-step assembly workflows that limit architectural complexity and experimental control. Here, we rep…

- Evaluation of Positional Variability in Surface Roughness in Orthodontic Mini-Implants Using Confocal Microscopy: A Multi-Manufacturer Comparative Study. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: OMI surface roughness is strongly manufacturer- and position-dependent, with the neck region amplifying inter-system differences. Selecting OMIs from the market or customizing their design based on anatomical considerations and applied forces may optimize osseointegration and peri-implant soft tissue health. Adjusting roughness profiles may help reduce implant migration. While long smooth necks might be advantageous in cases of extended transmucosal path.

- Cell clustering during anchorage-independent growth (AIG) is a key hallmark of malignant progression, supporting survival under detachment during metastatic dissemination. However, bioenergetic profiling of cell clusters grown under AIG conditions remains technically challenging, in part because of steep nutrient and oxygen gradients and irregular cell cluster shapes that complicate Seahorse XF a…
