- Real-Time Road Crack Detection on Smartphones Through ConvLSTM-Based Temporal Knowledge Distillation from a CNN-KAN and VMamba Dual-Path Network. [Journal Article]Sensors (Basel). 2026 Aug 10; 26(16).S
- Road crack images captured by smartphones suffer from low resolution, uneven illumination, and complex background interference. Mobile devices also have limited resources for real-time high-accuracy segmentation. A two-stage framework combines a high-accuracy dual-path teacher model with a knowledge-distilled lightweight student model. The teacher model integrates a CNN-KAN path for local texture…

- Rapid Radio Map Construction via Vehicle-Based SLAM in GNSS-Denied Environments. [Journal Article]Sensors (Basel). 2026 Aug 09; 26(16).S
- This study proposes a practical framework for rapidly generating a fingerprinting-based radio map in GNSS-denied environments such as underground parking lots. The system employs vehicle-based simultaneous localization and mapping (SLAM) to estimate trajectories using data collected from onboard smartphones and an OBD2 interface. During normal driving, Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) signals and inert…

- Post-cycle therapy after androgen abuse: A narrative review of mechanisms, evidence, and clinical perspectives. [Journal Article]Endocr Connect. 2026 Aug 26. [Online ahead of print]EC
- Post-cycle therapy (PCT) refers to the use of pharmacological agents-most commonly selective estrogen receptor modulators (SERMs), human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG), and aromatase inhibitors (AIs)-after cessation of androgen abuse to accelerate recovery of the hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal (HPG) axis. Exogenous androgens suppress endogenous testosterone production through negative feedback, oft…

- Evaluation of smart TV user interfaces for older adults based on the perception assessment method of analytic hierarchy process (AHP)-fuzzy theory. [Journal Article]
- With the deepening of population aging in China, smart TVs have become the most frequently used home digital device for older adults, serving as their core channel for daily information access and entertainment. However, the mismatch between older adults' perceptual needs, declining sensory and cognitive abilities, and the complex interface design of smart TVs has severely exacerbated the digital…

- Developing a mobile Assistive Listening App to support high school students with Chinese reading and phonological difficulties. [Journal Article]Disabil Rehabil Assist Technol. 2026 Aug 24; :1-18. [Online ahead of print]DR
- CONCLUSIONS: The Assistive Listening App may provide an accessible alternative to traditional FM systems for students with Chinese reading and phonological difficulties. The data reflected students' subjective perception of usefulness and satisfaction and potential feasibility of classroom implementation, although there was no objective evidence of their improved learning achievement.

- Development of a Multimodal Machine Learning Model for Predicting Second Osteoporotic Vertebral Compression Fractures. [Journal Article]Yonsei Med J. 2026 Sep; 67(9):686-697.YM
- CONCLUSIONS: We developed a high-performing multimodal machine learning model for predicting a second OVCF in patients with prior fractures. By integrating clinical and imaging data, the model demonstrated strong predictive accuracy and interpretability, supported by feature importance analysis and visualization.

- DEXA-Derived Body Fat Distribution and Its Correlation With Clinical, Anthropometric, Insulin Sensitivity, Metabolic, and Hormonal Parameters Among Kashmiri Polyendocrine Metabolic Ovarian Syndrome (PMOS) Women: A Cross-Sectional Study. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: Women with PMOS had greater proportions of android and trunk fat, according to DEXA analysis. Also, DEXA-based fat distribution indicated significant correlation with insulin sensitivity, anthropometric, metabolic, and clinical hyperandrogenism parameters, whereas no substantial correlation patterns were observed with the hormonal variables evaluated in this study.

- MobDedup: Mobile data deduplication for enhancing digital forensics. [Journal Article]J Forensic Sci. 2026 Aug 16. [Online ahead of print]JF
- Smartphones provide crucial but duplicate information in forensic investigations. The major deduplication tools designed for the cloud ignore constraints on phone storage, power, data fragmentation, and dynamic handling, leading to processing delays and limiting their efficient use. It also affects evidence integrity and increases the potential risk of data leakage. This paper proposes a data ded…

- Afternoon exercise was associated with greater fat loss than morning exercise in overweight/obese adults: an exploratory study of PER3 rs228697 genotype matching. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: In this exploratory sample of overweight/obese university students, 8 weeks of MICT was associated with favorable changes in several body-composition outcomes. Among CC genotype carriers, afternoon training was associated with descriptively greater improvements than morning training; however, the estimates were imprecise and do not support strong conclusions regarding genotype-based exercise-time matching based on PER3 rs228697 alone. Larger, well-controlled studies with objective circadian phenotyping are needed to clarify the potential role of genotype-informed exercise timing in personalized weight management.

- Chronic kidney disease progression rate and predictors in hypertensive patients: A 5-year retrospective follow-up study in Ethiopia. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: Hypertensive patients in this study progressed to chronic kidney disease more rapidly as compared to other studies. This could be explained by obesity, uncontrolled blood pressure, and high triglyceride levels. Routine screening of triglyceride levels and lifestyle modifications that target obesity reduction and impact blood pressure control is recommended.

- The characteristics and expression profile of follicle-stimulating hormone and luteinizing hormone during gonadal development in silver pomfret. [Journal Article]J Fish Biol. 2026 Aug 13. [Online ahead of print]JF
- The hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal (HPG) axis, particularly follicle-stimulating hormone (Fsh) and luteinizing hormone (Lh), is essential for the regulation of teleost reproduction. However, their expression dynamics and receptor distribution during gonadal development in silver pomfret remain poorly understood. This study aimed to characterize the expression profiles and cellular localization of…

- Privacy-preserving adaptive arrhythmia monitoring with wearable ECG, smartphone PPG, and federated on-device learning. [Journal Article]Front Digit Health. 2026; 8:1900115.FD
- Wearable electrocardiography (ECG) and smartphone technology create new opportunities for arrhythmia monitoring outside clinical environments. However, deployable mobile cardiac systems must address more than just classification accuracy. They must reliably acquire physiological signals under real-world conditions, protect the privacy of sensitive cardiac data, adapt to user- and sensor-specific …

- Diagnostic Accuracy of Body Mass Index, Bioelectrical Impedance Analysis, and Waist-to-Hip Ratio Against DEXA for Obesity in Saudi Arabia: A Cross-Sectional Study. [Journal Article]
- Background/Objectives: Body mass index (BMI) is the most widely used measure for obesity classification, yet it does not directly measure body fat and may substantially underestimate obesity prevalence. Simultaneous evaluation of the diagnostic accuracy of bioelectrical impedance analysis (BIA), BMI, and waist-to-hip ratio (WHR) against dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry (DEXA) for obesity classifi…
