  • Opposing Mitral Valve Clefts, or Perhaps an Isolated Quadricuspid Mitral Valve: A Case Report. [Case Reports]
    Cureus. 2026 Sep; 18(9):e115673.Heller S, Nanners B, … Lavallee MC
  • A quadricuspid mitral valve is an uncommon congenital anomaly whose imaging features are inconsistently reported. Prior case reports frequently describe this finding in patients with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM), complicating characterization of this anomaly as an isolated finding. We report a 64-year-old male with severe mitral regurgitation of incompletely defined origin and atrial fibrill…
  • Collective ring formation in active matter. [Journal Article]
Soft Matter. 2026 Oct 02. [Online ahead of print]Dutta D, Basu USM
  • We study the formation of ring-like structures in interacting active particle systems in two dimensions. The emergent structure shows signatures of both spatial and orientational organization. The spatial organization is characterized by the radial distance of a tagged particle from the centroid of the assembly, while orientational organization is characterized by the radial alignment of its self…
  • Optimal Patient Selection for Aortic Valve and Concomitant Ascending Aortic Procedures: Role of Multimodality Imaging. [Review]
    Circ Cardiovasc Imaging. 2026 Oct 01; :e019448. [Online ahead of print]Keen S, Unai S, … Desai MYCC
  • Management of aortic valve and aortic root disease has evolved alongside an expanding therapeutic landscape that includes valve repair, valve-sparing root replacement, composite graft reconstruction, transcatheter therapies, and autograft-based approaches. Because these strategies differ in durability, hemodynamic performance, and implications for future reintervention, procedural selection must …
  • Development and Histopathological Validation of a Novel Unilateral Three-Level Lumbar Artery Ligation Model of Progressive Intervertebral Disc Degeneration. [Journal Article]
    Orthop Rev (Pavia). 2026; 18:171209.Ugur F, Sarikas N, … Albayrak MOR
  • CONCLUSIONS: The proposed unilateral three-level lumbar artery ligation model successfully reproduces the acute, subacute, and chronic stages of IVDD through controlled vascular insufficiency. By avoiding direct mechanical damage to the intervertebral disc, this approach more closely reflects the stepwise pathophysiological evolution of vascular-related IVDD than conventional mechanistically induced models. This model demonstrates consistent and progressive degeneration at histopathological and morphometric levels, providing a robust, reproducible, and clinically relevant platform for investigating vascular contributions to IVDD and for the preclinical evaluation of regenerative and therapeutic strategies.
  • Sutureless Aortic Valve Replacement as a Bailout Strategy for Type A Aortic Dissection: 2 Case Reports. [Case Reports]
J Chest Surg. 2026 Sep 30. [Online ahead of print]Kim S, Kim JBJC
  • Sutureless aortic valve replacement (AVR) is generally avoided in type A aortic dissection (TAAD) because fragile, dissected tissue may provide inadequate stent fixation. We describe 2 patients with TAAD in whom a Perceval Plus sutureless bioprosthesis was successfully deployed as a bailout after failed aortic valve repair. In both cases, prior ascending aortic replacement created a stable prosth…
