- Modified balloon-assisted shoehorn technique for transcatheter aortic valve implantation in functionally horizontal anatomy: a case report. [Case Reports]Eur Heart J Case Rep. 2026 Oct; 10(10):ytag616.EH
- Transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI) in bicuspid aortic valve (BAV) poses unique challenges. We report a case in which an apparently benign anatomy resulted in failure of conventional delivery strategies and required a novel balloon-assisted bailout technique.

- Impaired Flow and Physiology in Coronaries With Anomalous Origin From the Opposite Sinus of Valsalva. [Journal Article]Catheter Cardiovasc Interv. 2026 Oct 15. [Online ahead of print]CC
- CONCLUSIONS: High-risk anatomical features of AAOCA are associated with altered coronary physiology. An intramural segment, acute take-off angle, and slit-like or oval ostium are linked to reduced hyperemic coronary blood flow due to increased microvascular resistance.

- Clinical Outcomes of Anomalous Aortic Origin of Right Coronary Artery from the Left Coronary Sinus. [Journal Article]Cardiology. 2026 Oct 13; :1. [Online ahead of print]C
- CONCLUSIONS: In our cohort, incidentally detected AAORCA in adults did not demonstrate a clearly elevated cardiac death risk relative to CAD during mid-term follow-up. However, given the small number of events, these findings should be interpreted as descriptive rather than confirmatory evidence of a benign natural course, particularly in populations at higher risk of exertional sudden cardiac death.

- CONCLUSIONS: AI-ECG models demonstrated strong external validity in a global obstetric cohort, with significantly improved performance in the refined model trained on expanded data. These findings support the potential role of AI-ECG for a scalable LVSD screening tool in obstetric populations, while underscoring the importance of population-specific validation prior to clinical implementation.

- Anesthetic Challenges in Interarterial Right Coronary Artery Anomaly from the Left Sinus of Valsalva: A Case Report. [Case Reports]Ann Card Anaesth. 2026 Oct 01; 29(4):605-609.AC
- Coronary artery anomalies are rare but clinically significant malformations, particularly when involving an interarterial course, which predisposes to ischemia and sudden cardiac death. We report the case of a previously healthy 22-year-old man who suffered out-of-hospital cardiac arrest associated with recreational inhalant use. Imaging revealed an anomalous right coronary artery originating fro…

- Anticoagulation after transcatheter and surgical bioprosthetic aortic valve replacement: A narrative review. [Review]Perfusion. 2026 Oct 12; :2676591261496740. [Online ahead of print]P
- BackgroundBioprosthetic aortic valve replacement, specifically surgical (SAVR) and transcatheter (TAVR), is among the most frequently performed cardiac interventions globally, yet anticoagulation strategies after implantation remain incompletely defined. Atrial fibrillation, notably prevalent pre- and post-operatively in these patients, substantially amplifies thromboembolic risk and complicates …

- Real-time three-dimensional echocardiographic assessment of the association between aortic diameter and left ventricular mechanical dyssynchrony in patients with bicuspid aortic valve. [Journal Article]Quant Imaging Med Surg. 2026 Oct 01; 16(10):808.QI
- CONCLUSIONS: Patients with BAV exhibit LVMD, which is more pronounced in those with concomitant AD. Both SOVSI and AASI are independently associated with LVMD. The study findings provide further evidence of an association between AD and greater LVMD in patients with BAV.

- Acute Severe Aortic Regurgitation Immediately After Cardiopulmonary Bypass Initiation in a Patient With a Bicuspid Aortic Valve. [Case Reports]
- Antegrade cardioplegia delivery during cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB) is standard practice in cardiac surgery, but it carries a risk of perfusion failure and acute myocardial distension in the presence of aortic regurgitation (AR). In patients with a bicuspid aortic valve (BAV), acute exacerbation of AR can occur immediately after initiating CPB. An 80-year-old man with a bicuspid aortic valve (Sie…

- Diagnostic and Surgical Challenges in Atypical Right Coronary Sinus-Right Atrial Rupture With Concurrent VSD. [Case Reports]JACC Case Rep. 2026 Oct 09; :110654. [Online ahead of print]JC
- CONCLUSIONS: This case emphasizes color Doppler echocardiography's value in dual-shunt physiology when coronary computed tomography angiography is inconclusive, supporting single-stage surgical repair for multilesion presentations.

- Sotagliflozin Reprograms Hepatic Lipid Metabolism and Attenuates Atherosclerosis Beyond Empagliflozin in CKM Mice. [Journal Article]bioRxiv. 2026 Oct 01.B
- CONCLUSIONS: In experimental CKM syndrome, dual SGLT1/2 inhibition reduces atherosclerosis and metabolic syndrome more effectively than selective SGLT2 inhibition and is associated with reprogramming of hepatic lipid metabolism. These results suggest that sotagliflozin could be an attractive candidate for mitigating atherosclerotic risk in non-diabetic CKD.

- Transcatheter Aortic Valve-in-Surgical Aortic Valve (TAV-in-SAV) for Structural Valve Degeneration of Post-Surgical Aortic Valve Replacement (SAVR) With the 3D-Nicks Procedure: A Case Report. [Case Reports]
- Transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI) for structural valve deterioration (SVD) following surgical aortic valve replacement (SAVR) is an established alternative to redo surgery (transcatheter aortic valve-in-surgical aortic valve, or TAV-in-SAV). However, in patients with a small aortic annulus or small sinus of Valsalva (SOV), the risk of coronary artery obstruction or severe prosthesis-…

- CONCLUSIONS: The 2 lesions share similar imaging manifestations, which frequently leads to misdiagnosis. This case summarizes characteristic differential imaging signs and supports conservative treatment, helping clinicians avoid inappropriate emergency cardiac procedures.Multimodal imaging can distinguish this rare hematoma from aortic dissection; conservative therapy is safe for hemodynamically stable patients.

- Prenatal Diagnosis of an Isolated Persistent Left Superior Vena Cava With Absent Right Superior Vena Cava: A Case Report. [Case Reports]
- Persistent left superior vena cava (PLSVC) with absent right superior vena cava (RSVC) is a rare congenital venous anomaly resulting from the failure of the left anterior cardinal vein to regress. Although often asymptomatic in isolated cases, prenatal diagnosis has clinical benefits, including the exclusion of coexisting congenital heart disease (CHD) and awareness of possible complications duri…
