- Quantitative Assessment of Maxillary Canine, Fourth Premolar, and First Molar Root Surface Areas and Ratios in 68 Brachycephalic Dogs Using Cone-Beam Computed Tomography. [Journal Article]J Vet Dent. 2026 Oct 09; :8987564261494957. [Online ahead of print]JV
- Malocclusions involving the maxillary canine teeth are common in brachycephalic dogs and may require active force orthodontics. Orthodontic anchorage is influenced by root surface area (RSA), yet the RSA of orthodontically important teeth has not been quantified in brachycephalic dogs. The objectives were to quantify the RSA of the maxillary canine, fourth premolar (PM4), and first molar (M1) tee…

- VMamba-QAG-net: a five-stage pipeline for SYNTAX score computation and decision support in interventional cardiology using X-ray angiography. [Journal Article]Front Artif Intell. 2026; 9:1903775.FA
- Coronary Artery Disease (CAD) remains a significant worldwide health problem, making accurate evaluation of disease severity essential for treatment planning. The SYNTAX score, derived from X-ray coronary angiography (XCA) images, plays a key role in guiding treatment decisions. However, manual scoring is time-consuming, subject and prone to inter-observer variability, necessitating the developme…

- Duodenal Obstruction and Grade III Acute Cholangitis Following Pancreaticoduodenal Artery Aneurysm Rupture During Conservative Management of Acute Type B Aortic Dissection: A Case Report. [Case Reports]
- Aneurysms of the pancreaticoduodenal arcade are uncommon visceral artery aneurysms that are strongly associated with stenosis or occlusion of the celiac axis and that may rupture irrespective of size. Rupture produces a peripancreatic or retroperitoneal hematoma, and duodenal stenosis is a recognized sequela; biliary complications have rarely been reported. An 84-year-old man admitted with an acu…

- Sequential Flow-Based Assessment of a Suspected Inferior Pancreaticoduodenal Artery-Derived Pathway Entering the Right Hepatic Artery during Pancreaticoduodenectomy: A Case Report. [Case Reports]
- CONCLUSIONS: An anatomically identifiable CHA does not necessarily guarantee secure hepatic arterial inflow during PD. When the GDA and ASPDA are absent and an IPDA-derived pathway is markedly developed, functional assessment should be considered before irreversible arterial division.

- Duodenal perforation and retroperitoneal abscess after coil embolisation of an inferior pancreaticoduodenal artery pseudoaneurysm in a patient previously treated with bevacizumab. [Case Reports]BMJ Case Rep. 2026 Sep 29; 19(9).BC
- Transcatheter arterial embolisation is an established treatment for visceral pseudoaneurysms and pancreaticoduodenal arcade embolisation is generally well tolerated because of rich collateral flow. We report a man in his 70s with metastatic rectal cancer previously treated with bevacizumab who developed duodenal perforation and retroperitoneal abscess 15 days after embolisation of an inferior pan…

- Perfusion Density Changes After Epiretinal Membrane Surgery Predominantly Reflect Topographic Redistribution of Macular Vasculature. [Journal Article]Retina. 2026 Sep 29. [Online ahead of print]R
- CONCLUSIONS: In iERM, greater FAZ enlargement correlated with greater visual improvement despite a reduction in central PD. The significant relationship between changes in FV and PD suggests that changes in OCTA flow parameters after iERM surgery predominantly reflect topographic redistribution of macular vasculature rather than a true loss of perfusion, although a concurrent perfusion change cannot be entirely excluded.

- Pylorus-Preserving Pancreatoduodenectomy for Ampullary Carcinoma after Esophagectomy with Retrosternal Ileocolonic Interposition: A Case Report. [Case Reports]
- CONCLUSIONS: This case demonstrates that PPPD after esophagectomy with an ileocolonic interposition is feasible in select patients. Preservation of both the right gastroepiploic vessels and the middle colic arterial arcade is essential to maintain perfusion of the remnant stomach and the ileocolonic conduit. Intraoperative ICG fluorescence imaging is useful for the real-time confirmation of perfusion in both vascular territories.

- "The flash of awakened consciousness": dream images in Freud and Benjamin. [Historical Article]Int J Psychoanal. 2026 Aug; 107(4):643-661.IJ
- This essay explores the role of visual images in dream imagery as a space where unconscious processes intersect with historical forces. It offers a comparative reading in Freud's Interpretation of Dreams (1900) and Benjamin's Arcades Project (1982). Freud conceptualizes dream images as condensed memory traces that navigate between perception and hallucination, revealing repressed desires. Convers…

- Routine Intraoperative ICG Perfusion Assessment and Anastomotic Leak After Esophagectomy: A Before-After Cohort Study. [Journal Article]
- Background: Anastomotic leak (AL) is a major complication after esophagectomy, and gastric conduit perfusion is considered a key determinant of anastomotic integrity. Indocyanine green (ICG) fluorescence angiography is increasingly used for intraoperative perfusion assessment, although its clinical effect remains uncertain. We evaluated whether routine implementation of ICG assessment was associa…

- StatPearls: Esophageal Reconstruction [BOOK]StatPearls. StatPearls Publishing: Treasure Island (FL).BOOK
- Esophageal reconstruction becomes necessary whenever the continuity of the alimentary tract between the pharynx and stomach is lost and cannot be restored by direct anastomosis. This occurs after esophagectomy for adenocarcinoma or squamous cell carcinoma, after resection for corrosive injury, when a stricture from prior radiation or caustic injury is refractory to endoscopic dilation, and when a…
- StatPearls: Anatomy, Abdomen and Pelvis: Inferior Mesenteric Artery [BOOK]StatPearls. StatPearls Publishing: Treasure Island (FL).BOOK
- The inferior mesenteric artery (IMA) arises from the abdominal aorta a few inches inferior to the origin of the superior mesenteric artery (SMA). After originating at the level of the 3rd lumbar vertebra (L3), the IMA courses slightly lateral to the abdominal aorta, posterior to the 3rd part of the duodenum. Embryologically, the IMA supplies the hindgut, which comprises the distal portion of the …
- Retrograde Collateral Crossing Through Riolan's Arcade With Femoral Antegrade Reconstruction After Traction During Upper-Extremity Externalization. [Case Reports]JACC Case Rep. 2026 Sep 10; :110257. [Online ahead of print]JC
- CONCLUSIONS: This case highlights a strategy of retrograde collateral crossing followed by femoral antegrade reconstruction for flush SMA occlusion. Conversion to femoral reconstruction may reduce collateral traction while facilitating definitive endovascular treatment. In complex SMA chronic total occlusion, retrograde collateral crossing through Riolan's arcade can facilitate lesion traversal, whereas femoral antegrade reconstruction may offer a lower-traction and more controlled pathway for definitive mesenteric revascularization.
