- A single-center retrospective cohort study of cinacalcet efficacy in uremic hemodialysis patients: Correlations with changes in parathyroid hormone, calcium and phosphorus over 12 months. [Journal Article]Pak J Pharm Sci. 2026 Nov 01; 39(11):3578-3588.PJ
- CONCLUSIONS: Cin is more effective than Cal in helping uremic hemodialysis patients achieve composite control of iPTH and Ca × P. Therapeutic success correlates with reductions in iPTH and Ca and iPTH decline is closely linked to improved P levels, highlighting the importance of integrated management of SHPT.

- Risk Factors for Anxiety or Depression in Patients With Stroke During the Acute and Recovery Phases: An Independent Cohort Study. [Journal Article]Actas Esp Psiquiatr. 2026 Aug 15; 54(4):1077-1087.AE
- CONCLUSIONS: There are differences in the risk factors for anxiety/depression between independent stroke patients cohorts at different disease stages. Clinically, individualized intervention should be carried out according to the key risk factors of each disease stage to reduce the risk of anxiety or depression.

- Dose-response effects of corn-derived deoxynivalenol on nursery pig feed intake and growth performance. [Journal Article]Transl Anim Sci. 2026; 10:txag104.TA
- Deoxynivalenol (DON) is a trichothecene mycotoxin commonly contaminating swine diets and is known to impair nursery pig performance through anorectic effects. The objective of this study was to characterize the dose-response effects of increasing dietary DON concentrations (0.2 to 5.1 mg/kg) that were naturally added through increasing levels of DON-contaminated corn on growth performance in mode…

- Dexmedetomidine-Ketamine-Based Multimodal General Anesthesia with Electroencephalographic Spectrogram-Guided Titration Improves Early Recovery After Lumbar Spine Fusion in Older Adults: A Randomized Controlled Trial. [Randomized Controlled Trial]Drug Des Devel Ther. 2026; 20:627450.DD
- CONCLUSIONS: Dexmedetomidine-ketamine-based multimodal general anesthesia implemented with spectrogram-guided titration improved early patient-centered recovery and reduced immediate perioperative opioid requirements, at the expense of increased intraoperative vasopressor and atropine use. Exploratory analyses suggested a possible reduction in 3-month average pain intensity, which requires confirmation in trials adequately powered for persistent postsurgical pain.

- Myofascial Trigger Point-Augmented Acupuncture vs Conventional Acupuncture for Early- to Mid-Stage Knee Osteoarthritis: A Randomized Clinical Trial. [Clinical Trial]J Pain Res. 2026; 19:634945.JP
- CONCLUSIONS: Adding MTrP-targeted dry needling to conventional acupuncture did not significantly improve the prespecified primary responder outcome; therefore, superiority was not established. Exploratory findings suggested possible incremental benefits through week 14, but these should be weighed against greater procedural pain and substantially lower short-term acceptability.

- MCV-Neutropenia Risk Score and Overall Survival in HR+/HER2- Advanced Breast Cancer: A Multicenter Retrospective Landmark Analysis. [Journal Article]Breast Cancer (Dove Med Press). 2026; 18:624272.BC
- CONCLUSIONS: Among patients who were alive and evaluable at the 3-month landmark, higher MNRS was independently associated with more favorable subsequent landmark OS. MNRS may represent an exploratory and complementary approach to early risk stratification using routinely available hematologic parameters. Because both neutropenia and MCV changes may be influenced by treatment exposure and other clinical factors, prospective external validation is required before clinical application.

- Testing Front-of-Package Labels on Packaged Food for Adult and Adolescent Population in Bangladesh. [Journal Article]Curr Dev Nutr. 2026 Sep; 10(9):109464.CD
- CONCLUSIONS: Interpretive FOPL systems outperform noninterpretive labels in improving consumer understanding, with WLs showing the strongest effects. These findings support the use of mandatory WLs as an effective policy to promote healthier food choices and address diet-related NCDs in Bangladesh. This study was preregistered at the Open Science Framework on February 5, 2025. - Moderate-intensity treadmill exercise improved the anticonvulsant efficacy of topiramate and attenuated anxiety and depressive-like side effects in epileptic rats by upregulating 5-HT1A receptors in the hippocampus and cerebral cortex. [Journal Article]IBRO Neurosci Rep. 2026 Dec; 21:582-594.IN
- CONCLUSIONS: The current findings demonstrate that adjunctive moderate-intensity treadmill exercise potentiates the anticonvulsant efficacy of topiramate and effectively counteracts its depressive-like side effects and anxiety. This behavioral improvement was correlated with exercise-mediated upregulation of 5-HT1A receptors, suggesting a potential mechanistic link. These findings provide a preclinical rationale for further investigation into the potential benefits of exercise as an adjunctive therapy in epilepsy, though clinical translation requires additional studies.

- People with tuberculosis (TB) have a suicide risk up to 25 times higher than the general population. It may be due to stigma, isolation, prolonged treatment, and psychological distress from the disease. Hence, empowering healthcare workers (HCWs) who are involved in TB care with suicide prevention skills is essential.
