- Gut microbiome taxonomic and functional capacity alterations in CHD and HFpEF. [Journal Article]Front Microbiol. 2026; 17:1875692.FM
- The gut microbiome is known to modulate metabolic health, yet its role in coronary heart disease (CHD) and heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF) remains unclear. In the present study, we profiled the gut microbiome of 234 participants using shotgun metagenomic sequencing across controls (n = 43), individuals with low-risk atherosclerosis (LRAS, n = 23), and patients with CHD + HF…

- Epicardial Adipose Tissue as a Dynamic Modulator of Coronary Artery Disease Phenotypes: Pathophysiology and Therapeutic Implications. [Review]Clin Cardiol. 2026 Oct; 49(10).CC
- CONCLUSIONS: EAT represents a potential therapeutic target across CAD phenotypes. However, whether therapeutic modification of EAT independently improves cardiovascular outcomes remains uncertain.

- Upregulation of miR-200b-3p serves as a diagnostic biomarker for coronary atherosclerosis and regulates the oxidized low-density lipoprotein cholesterol-induced dysfunction of vascular smooth muscle cells. [Journal Article]BMC Cardiovasc Disord. 2026 Jul 30; 26(1).BC
- CONCLUSIONS: Upregulation of miR-200b-3p served as a biomarker in diagnosing CAS. Upregulated miR-200b-3p expression might be involved in CAS progression through promoting the ox-LDL-stimulated vascular smooth muscle cell (VSMC) injury via regulating RAP1B.

- Beyond Traditional Risk: Does Systemic Inflammation Drive Accelerated Atherosclerosis in Rheumatoid Arthritis? [Review]Am J Med Sci. 2026 Oct 27. [Online ahead of print]AJ
- Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is the primary cause of morbidity and mortality in individuals with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and other rheumatic diseases (RDs), contributing to an approximate 50% increased cardiovascular risk relative to the general population. In addition to conventional cardiovascular risk factors, disease-specific processes such as chronic inflammation, endothelial dysfunction, …

- M6A-modified lncRNA RMRP facilitates mitophagy and promotes ox-LDL-induced endothelial cell injury by interacting with PTBP1 and activating the PI3K/AKT pathway. [Journal Article]Biochim Biophys Acta Gene Regul Mech. 2026 Oct 27; :195190. [Online ahead of print]BB
- CONCLUSIONS: METTL14 regulates the expression of lncRNA RMRP through m6A modification. Overexpressed lncRNA RMRP targets AKT3 by recruiting PTBP1, thus activating the PI3K/AKT pathway to mediate mitophagy and promote the progression of atherosclerosis.

- Long-term patency outcomes after first autogenous arteriovenous fistula creation in patients aged 80 years or older: a competing-risk analysis. [Journal Article]J Vasc Surg. 2026 Oct 27. [Online ahead of print]JV
- CONCLUSIONS: Among patients selected for autogenous AVF creation, age ≥80 years was not independently associated with primary patency loss, whereas a continuous-age sensitivity analysis suggested a modest increase in risk per decade. These findings suggest that an age threshold alone should not determine AVF candidacy in otherwise suitable patients, although interpretation is tempered by loss to follow-up.

- Atherosclerosis, a condition causing the narrowing of the arteries, is a major contributor to the development of cardiovascular diseases. This emphasizes the importance of examining the rheological behavior of blood flow through such arteries. The mathematical model serves as a framework to gain an understanding of the flow and thermal properties of blood. Thus, we employed a non-Newtonian Bingha…

- Region-specific associations between dual-Layer spectral detector CT-derived carotid plaque parameters and white matter hyperintensity burden in patients with carotid atherosclerosis. [Journal Article]Eur J Radiol. 2026 Oct 23; 206:113305. [Online ahead of print]EJ
- CONCLUSIONS: DLSCT-derived Z-Zeff was independently associated with WMH burden in a region-specific manner, with the strongest associations in periventricular and deep white matter, and provided incremental value beyond clinical and conventional CTA parameters. These findings support Z-Zeff as a potential imaging biomarker linking carotid plaque composition to regional cerebral small vessel disease.

- Chest Radiotherapy Associated Cardiotoxicity: An Update. [Review]Curr Cardiol Rep. 2026 Oct 27; 28(1).CC
- Chest radiotherapy has improved cancer survival in various thoracic malignancies, including breast cancer, Hodgkin lymphoma, and lung cancer. However, inadvertent radiation exposure to the heart is associated with a broad spectrum of cardiovascular toxicities, collectively termed radiation-induced heart disease (RIHD). We aim to review the pathophysiology of RIHD and the current evidence for thei…

- Periodontitis Beyond ASCVD: Emerging Cardiovascular Phenotypes in Perio-Medicine. [Review]Clin Oral Investig. 2026 Oct 27; 30(11).CO
- CONCLUSIONS: The periodontal-cardiovascular field is evolving from a predominantly ASCVD-centered model toward a phenotype-specific continuum of evidence maturity. Periodontitis is best interpreted as a potential modifier of cardiovascular vulnerability rather than as an established causal determinant. Future research should prioritize adequately powered cardiovascular-outcome trials, standardized periodontal phenotyping, and prospective validation of emerging phenotypes and mechanistic frameworks before periodontal information can be considered clinically actionable for cardiovascular prevention.

- CONCLUSIONS: In our respective cohort of patients, the presence of an IRS during stent-retriever-based thrombectomy appeared to indicate a higher rate of first-pass-effect and a 3-month favourable outcome in acute LVO stroke patients with ICAD.

- Baseline neutrophil-to-HDL cholesterol ratio is associated with subsequent cerebrovascular accident in patients with microscopic polyangiitis or granulomatosis with polyangiitis. [Journal Article]Clin Rheumatol. 2026 Oct 27. [Online ahead of print]CR
- CONCLUSIONS: This study demonstrated the clinical utility of baseline NHR in predicting subsequent CVA in patients with MPA/GPA. Key Points • Baseline neutrophil-to-high-density lipoprotein cholesterol ratio was significantly correlated with baseline Birmingham vasculitis activity score, erythrocyte sedimentation rate, and C-reactive protein levels in patients with microscopic polyangiitis or granulomatosis with polyangiitis. • Patients with baseline neutrophil-to-high-density lipoprotein cholesterol ratio ≥0.17 had a significantly higher risk of subsequent cerebrovascular accident and a lower cerebrovascular accident-free survival rate than those with baseline neutrophil-to-high-density lipoprotein cholesterol ratio <0.17. • Baseline neutrophil-to-high-density lipoprotein cholesterol ratio ≥0.17 remained independently associated with subsequent cerebrovascular accident after adjustment for age and C-reactive protein.
