- Extracellular vesicles at the periodontal immune-regenerative interface: coupled mechanisms and translational challenges. [Review]
- Periodontitis is a chronic immune-inflammatory disease in which dysbiotic microbial communities and sustained host responses disrupt the gingiva, periodontal ligament (PDL), cementum, and alveolar bone. Because these tissues form an integrated attachment apparatus, effective regeneration requires coordinated control of inflammation and reconstruction of soft and mineralized tissues. Extracellular…

- Efficacy of injectable platelet-rich fibrin and microneedling for thin gingival phenotype: a systematic review and meta-analysis. [Systematic Review]
- CONCLUSIONS: i-PRF combined with MN may provide an adjunctive benefit for increasing GT in thin periodontal phenotypes, particularly within the first three months. These results should be interpreted with considerable caution given the small number of studies included and the high risk of bias. While a modest improvement in GT was observed with the combination approach, the impact on KTW remains inconclusive.

- Intraoral Ultrasonography for Mid-Buccal Probing Depth Assessment: A Proof-of-Concept Clinical Agreement Study. [Journal Article]J Clin Periodontol. 2026 Oct 16. [Online ahead of print]JC
- CONCLUSIONS: Intraoral ultrasonography showed high agreement with clinical PD at standardised mid-buccal sites in anterior teeth, premolars and first molars. It may serve as a non-invasive adjunct to conventional probing; however, broader studies are needed across complex sites and examiner experience levels.

- Coronally advanced flap with platelet-rich fibrin or amniotic membrane for the treatment of gingival recession: a systematic review and meta-analysis with trial sequential analysis. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: Within the limitations of a small number of short-term randomized trials, outcome-level risk-of-bias concerns, and potential unit-of-analysis issues, current evidence suggests that CAF combined with PRF or AM yields comparable clinical outcomes for the treatment of gingival recession. Although a statistically significant advantage in KGW was observed for AM at 3 months, this difference is unlikely to be clinically meaningful and was not sustained over time.

- Modified palatal strip grafting for keratinized tissue augmentation: A technical report. [Case Reports]Clin Adv Periodontics. 2026 Oct 06. [Online ahead of print]CA
- CONCLUSIONS: The mPSG approach seems to be predictable, cost-effective, and "patient-friendly" for KT augmentation around teeth. Nevertheless, comparative randomized clinical trials are suggested to confirm the observations presented here.

- Clinical and patient-centered outcomes of novel overlapping rotated double flap versus subepithelial connective tissue graft in RT1 gingival recession: a pilot study. [Journal Article]Quintessence Int. 2026 Oct 05; 0(0):0. [Online ahead of print]QI
- This pilot randomized study compared the clinical effectiveness and patient-reported outcomes of the novel Overlapping Rotated Double (NORD) flap with the Subepithelial Connective Tissue Graft (SCTG) for the management of single isolated RT1 gingival recession defects. Thirty-two systemically healthy adults were randomly assigned to either the NORD or SCTG group. Primary outcomes included reducti…

- [Evaluation of the effect of the connective tissue graft wall technique combined with bone grafting in managing infrabony defects with keratinized tissue deficiency]. [Journal Article]Shanghai Kou Qiang Yi Xue. 2026 Aug; 35(4):370-375.SK
- CONCLUSIONS: For infrabony defects accompanied by insufficient keratinized gingiva, CTGWT combined with bone grafting can significantly promote KGW as well as periodontal bone regeneration.
- Comparative evaluation of efficacy of xenogeneic pericardial membrane enriched with two different forms of platelet concentrates in the treatment of gingival recession- a randomized clinical trial. [Randomized Controlled Trial]
- CONCLUSIONS: This preliminary short-term research suggests that the adjunctive use of A-PRF + to XCM resulted in more favorable root coverage outcomes than i-PRF-enriched XCM in the management of maxillary RT1 and RT2 recession defects.

- Comparison of Coronally Advanced Flap and Semilunar Coronally Repositioned Flap for Root Coverage of Gingival Recession in Maxillary Anterior Teeth: A Clinical Comparative Study. [Journal Article]
- Introduction Gingival recession is a common mucogingival condition that may result in dentinal hypersensitivity, root caries, cervical abrasion, and compromised aesthetics, particularly in the maxillary anterior region. Various root coverage procedures have been proposed for the management of gingival recession defects. Among the available treatment options, the coronally advanced flap (CAF) and …

- Maxillary oral mucosa exhibits region-specific but No direction-dependent mechanical tensile properties. [Journal Article]J Mech Behav Biomed Mater. 2026 Dec; 184:107652.JM
- This study investigated the regional and direction-specific tensile properties of native human oral mucosal tissues. Tissue specimens were harvested from three distinct maxillary regions, namely the hard palate, attached gingiva, and alveolar mucosa from 11 partially dentate donors, totaling 34 specimens. Using the osmotic stress protocol to standardize water content, specimens underwent uniaxial…

- A Three-Zone Classification System for Biomaterial-Based Management of Deep Subgingival Carious Lesions. [Journal Article]
- Background: This article introduces a clinically oriented, anatomy-based classification of subgingival margins. The proposed system categorizes margins into distinct zones based on their relationship with gingival and periodontal tissues and links each zone to appropriate restorative strategies. Methods: The classification is based on established principles of periodontal anatomy and restorative …

- Repeatability of a spectrophotometer and mobile applications for measuring the colour of gingival tissue. [Journal Article]J Dent. 2026 Sep 09; 176:107037. [Online ahead of print]JD
- CONCLUSIONS: All instruments demonstrated clinically acceptable repeatability. The spectrophotometer and iOS OptiShade provided the most consistent measurements, while Android Color Meter showed the lowest repeatability. Gingival region had minimal influence on repeatability.

[Randomized Controlled Trial]Quintessence Int. 2026 Oct 22; 57(9):712-723.QI
- CONCLUSIONS: Both therapeutic approaches produced favorable clinical improvements over time. A-PRF impregnated with DFDBA may enhance the regenerative potential of VISTA and contribute to more predictable and stable esthetic outcomes.

- Surgical and mucogingival management of an oral pyogenic granuloma associated with fixed orthodontic treatment in an adolescent patient: a case report. [Case Reports]
- Oral pyogenic granuloma (OPG) is a reactive vascular lesion that may worsen during orthodontic treatment due to biofilm-induced inflammation. This clinical case describes the surgical and mucogingival management of an OPG associated with fixed orthodontic appliances in an adolescent patient.
