  • Analysis of astigmatism type influence on in vivo corneal biomechanical measurements. [Journal Article]
    Front Bioeng Biotechnol. 2026; 14:1903049.Huo Y, Zhang Q, … Wang YFB
  • CONCLUSIONS: In vivo biomechanical measurements were influenced by different astigmatism types. SP-A1 was the primary outcome and differed significantly among astigmatism types. Power vector analysis showed that a greater WTR component was correlated with higher SP-A1, Integrated Radius, and HC dArc length, and lower Radius. Astigmatism axis type and cylinder power could be considered when interpreting in vivo biomechanical measurements to improve the precision of corneal biomechanical evaluation.
  • A contactless heat engine driven by nonreciprocal fluctuation-induced torques. [Journal Article]
    J Chem Phys. 2026 Sep 14; 165(10).Shah D, Asheichyk K, … Krüger MJC
  • We describe a contactless heat engine in which quantum and thermal electromagnetic fluctuations act as the working medium. The setup consists of two concentric cylinders held at different temperatures. The inner cylinder stably levitates within the outer one due to repulsive nonequilibrium Casimir forces. The chirality of the setup is broken by using nonreciprocal dielectric materials, akin to ap…
  • Astigmatic vector outcomes after FS-LASIK versus SMILE for high myopic astigmatism: a single-center retrospective comparative cohort study without cyclotorsion compensation. [Journal Article]
    Int Ophthalmol. 2026 Sep 01; 46(1).Liu Y, Chen T, … Chen XIO
  • CONCLUSIONS: Under surgical alignment without cyclotorsion compensation, FS-LASIK and SMILE/KLEx both yielded acceptable visual and refractive safety/efficacy for high myopic astigmatism (- 2.00 to - 3.75 D) at 1-year follow-up, but demonstrated divergent astigmatism correction tendencies: FS-LASIK exhibited relative astigmatism overcorrection (vector mean DV: - 0.35 ± 0.43 D × 91°, CI > 1), while SMILE/KLEx showed relative undercorrection (vector mean DV: - 0.21 ± 0.53 D × 12°, CI < 1). These correction biases are specific to the study's manual limbal alignment protocol without cyclotorsion tracking and cannot be generalized to modern optimized surgical platforms equipped with automated cyclotorsion compensation. Residual refractive errors across both groups are likely multifactorial, including differential corneal stromal healing responses, divergent femtosecond/excimer laser tissue modification mechanisms, and uncorrected intraoperative ocular cyclotorsion.
  • Humeral head geometry: a CT scan analysis of the global offset relationship with intramedullary shaft diameter and humeral head size. [Journal Article]
    J Shoulder Elbow Surg. 2026 Aug 20. [Online ahead of print]Lent-Koop J, Orbay J, … Mercer DJS
  • CONCLUSIONS: Findings suggest weak to moderate relationships between humeral head size and shaft diameter, with the strongest correlation between humeral head diameter and medullary canal size in male patients. Global offset demonstrated either weak or no correlation with humeral head size or medullary canal diameter. This lack of association suggests that global offset varies independent of humeral head and canal size. Global offset is an essential morphometric parameter in stemmed humeral arthroplasty because it defines the location of the native humeral head center relative to the humeral canal. Because stemmed implants achieve fixation within the canal, recreating the native global offset is necessary to restore the physiological center of rotation and shoulder anatomy.
  • Twelve-Month Visual, Refractive, and Ocular Wavefront Outcomes of SmartSight KLEx, Pooling Original and NOVA Workflows, on the SCHWIND ATOS: A Single-Surgeon Cohort Study. [Journal Article]
    Ophthalmol Ther. 2026 Oct; 15(10):3421-3439.Gabrić I, Grulović F, … Kuzman TOT
  • CONCLUSIONS: In this large single-surgeon series, pooling data from the original SmartSight workflow and the SmartSight NOVA, KLEx on the SCHWIND ATOS delivered accurate, safe, and stable 12-month outcomes with excellent uncorrected vision and only modest higher-order aberration induction. As a single-surgeon experience using an evolving offset and two treatment workflows that are temporally confounded with each other and with surgical experience, these findings describe a descriptive association between the offset strategy and favorable outcomes rather than validation of a fixed nomogram or of SmartSight NOVA specifically; the current + 0.75 D offset was not represented at one year and requires prospective, workflow-controlled validation.
  • Genetic algorithm optimization of low aspect ratio Halbach arrays with explicit control of orthogonal field component. [Journal Article]
    J Magn Reson. 2026 Aug 12; 391:108154. [Online ahead of print]Alirezaee F, Mohammadzadeh M, Webb AJM
  • CONCLUSIONS: Magnetic field maps with similar homogeneity metrics do not necessarily produce comparable FID. For certain compact dipole Halbach geometries (AR < 1.4) finite length effects can generate orthogonal components that become a significant source of signal dephasing. Therefore, these components need to be evaluated and, where necessary, explicitly controlled during the design and optimization of compact Halbach MRI magnets.
