- Complete Response Durability After TAR-200 and Nadofaragene Firadenovec in BCG-unresponsive Bladder CIS. [Journal Article]Anticancer Res. 2026 Oct; 46(10):5729-5735.AR
- CONCLUSIONS: In this exploratory rIPD-based cross-trial analysis, CR durability among responders did not differ significantly between TAR-200 and nadofaragene firadenovec through 24 months. Later RMST point estimates and model-based durable CR fraction estimates were numerically higher for TAR-200, but these findings require cautious interpretation because of cross-trial comparability limitations, responder-conditioned selection, and limited follow-up.

- Semi-synthesis of indole-fused taraxerone derivatives from Rhizophora stylosa Griff.: anti-bacterial study and docking insights. [Journal Article]Nat Prod Res. 2026 Oct 01; :1-8. [Online ahead of print]NP
- A series of novel semisynthetic indole-fused taraxerone derivatives (2a-2f) were synthesised from taraxerone isolated from Rhizophora stylosa Griff. and characterised by 1H NMR,13C NMR, and HRMS analyses. Incorporation of the pharmacologically important indole moiety was aimed at enhancing protein-ligand interactions and antibacterial activity. The synthesised compounds, 2a-2f, were evaluated aga…

- Lupeol fatty acid esters and an alkyl Cycloartane ether from Cynanchum acutum with antimicrobial, antioxidant, and cytotoxic activities. [Journal Article]Fitoterapia. 2026 Oct 01; :107508. [Online ahead of print]F
- Phytochemical investigation of the n-hexane extract of Cynanchum acutum afforded one known lupeol fatty acid ester (1), reported here for the first time from C. acutum, and two previously undescribed lupane/cycloartane-type triterpenoid derivatives, including a lupane-type unsaturated fatty acid ester (2) and a C7 alkyl ether cycloartane derivative (3), together with three known triterpenoids (4-…

- PEG precipitation for easy ribosome profiling. [Journal Article]Methods. 2026 Oct 01. [Online ahead of print]M
- Ribosome profiling is a powerful technique to discover translation events, and to reveal translational dynamics at gene and codon level. The procedure includes laborious ribosome isolation steps using density gradient ultracentrifugation. However, ultracentrifuges are not available in every laboratory, and ultracentrifugation is not suitable for high-throughput experimentation. PEG precipitation …

- Plasma-freeze pretreatment reduces recalcitrance and enhances enzymatic reducing-sugar release from flax bast biomass. [Journal Article]Bioresour Technol. 2026 Oct 01; :135965. [Online ahead of print]BT
- Flax bast biomass is a phloem-derived lignocellulosic substrate whose enzymatic conversion to reducing sugars is limited by a compact non-cellulosic matrix and restricted interfacial accessibility. A sequential plasma-freeze pretreatment (PF) was developed to reduce this recalcitrance by combining plasma-induced surface modification with a subsequent aqueous freezing followed by freeze-drying seq…

- Pharmacological control of inflammation via innate immune memory manipulation. [Review]Curr Opin Pharmacol. 2026 Sep 15; 91:102675. [Online ahead of print]CO
- Chronic inflammation underlies several common diseases although it is inadequately managed by conventional anti-inflammatory therapies that often suppress immune responses and have long-term adverse effects. Innate immune memory encompasses trained immunity and tolerance, which provide a comprehensive framework for persistent maladaptive innate responses that drive the pathogenesis of neurodegene…

- A Phase I Clinical Trial of Chemoimmunotherapy with Alternating Intravesical Gemcitabine and Bacillus Calmette-Guérin (GemBCG) for BCG-Exposed High-Grade Non-Muscle-Invasive Bladder Cancer. [Journal Article]J Urol. 2026 Oct 01; :101097JU0000000000005324. [Online ahead of print]JU
- CONCLUSIONS: GemBCG was safe, well-tolerated, and demonstrated promising early efficacy and modification of the tumor microenvironment. Based on these data, a randomized phase III trial is testing GemBCG vs. retreatment with BCG alone for BCG exposed high-grade NMIBC (Alliance A032303/NCT07000084).

- Functional and sensory enhancement of cucumber juice by RSM-optimized Lactobacillus rhamnosus NCDC-347 fermentation. [Journal Article]Antonie Van Leeuwenhoek. 2026 Oct 01; 119(10).AV
- The present study aimed to develop a fermented cucumber juice beverage using Lactobacillus rhamnosus NCDC-347. The fermentation procedure was optimized using Response Surface Methodology (RSM). The independent variables used for optimization were inoculum size (2-5%), pH (5-9), and incubation temperature (30-45 °C), while the responses were Total Phenolic Content (TPC), antioxidant activity, tota…

- Core Proteome Subtractive Genomics Reveals Potential Therapeutic Targets in Bacillus anthracis. [Journal Article]Curr Microbiol. 2026 Oct 01; 83(11).CM
- Bacillus anthracis, a Gram-positive, spore-forming bacterium, poses significant public health risks due to its zoonotic potential and historical use in bioterrorism. Pathogenicity of B. anthracis is primarily attributed to its genetic components, including the essential plasmids pXO1 and pXO2. The pXO1 plasmid encodes toxic factors, while pXO2 facilitates immune evasion. The zoonotic potential, a…

- The increasing prevalence of multidrug-resistant (MDR) bacterial pathogens highlights the need to explore microorganisms from under-investigated environments as potential sources of antibacterial metabolites. In the present study, marine Bacillus isolates were recovered from seawater and screened for antibacterial activity against three MDR Escherichia coli isolates. Twenty isolates were obtained…

- CONCLUSIONS: MAS-PCR demonstrated high specificity and substantial agreement with DST-MGIT among evaluable smear-positive specimens but incomplete sensitivity for phenotypic INH resistance. These findings support its use as a complementary targeted molecular approach rather than a replacement for phenotypic DST.

- CONCLUSIONS: EPTB represents one-fifth of the TB caseload at a tertiary center in Oman, with TB lymphadenitis and disseminated disease as the leading forms. The diagnostic yield of individual tests varies markedly by anatomical site, supporting a multimodal approach combining AFB smear, Xpert MTB/RIF, mycobacterial culture, and histopathology on every available specimen. Hepatotoxicity remains the dominant treatment-limiting adverse event and warrants systematic monitoring.

- High-carbohydrate-high-fat (HCHF) diets help reduce feed costs in intensive aquaculture, but they often induce glycolipid metabolic disorders and hepatopancreatic steatosis in farmed fish. Although probiotics have shown promise in ameliorating metabolic disorders, the mechanisms by which they interact with the gut microbiota-bile acid (BA) axis in fish remain poorly understood. In this study, com…
