  • Virtual reality for chronic primary low back pain in adults: systematic review protocol. [Journal Article]
    Syst Rev. 2026 Aug 28; 15(1).Schäfer A, Kaiser U, … Elsner BSR
  • CONCLUSIONS: This systematic review will provide trustworthy evidence about the effects of VR in chronic primary low back pain by employing rigorous methods of search string development, comprehensive database search, quality evaluation and control, data extraction, documentation and analysis incorporating theory of change. Anticipated intervention heterogeneity will be addressed by pre-specified subgroup analyses and appropriate methods of meta-analysis.
  • Long-term sequelae in patients with spondylodiscitis: independent predictors. [Journal Article]
    Joint Bone Spine. 2026 Aug 28; :106125. [Online ahead of print]Hammami F, Koubaa M, … Jemaa MBJB
  • CONCLUSIONS: Infectious spondylodiscitis is associated with a high rate of long-term sequelae. Younger age, neurological deficit, elevated ESR, and specific radiological findings, particularly psoas and spinal epidural abscesses, were independent predictors of sequelae. Early identification of high-risk patients may help optimize management and improve outcomes.
  • Semantic manifold-aware cross-modal similarity learning. [Journal Article]
    Neural Netw. 2026 Aug 24; 205(Pt C):109541. [Online ahead of print]Zhu L, Han D, Chen CNN
  • Image-text matching (ITM) methods typically rely on positive-negative sample discrimination to learn cross-modal similarity. However, when similarity computation is primarily built upon sequence-level and linear representations, samples that are semantically similar but differ in underlying structural relations often remain ambiguously separated, resulting in blurred decision boundaries. To addre…
  • Type-specific and hibernation-associated skeletal muscle remodeling of the back muscle in Syrian hamsters. [Journal Article]
    J Physiol Sci. 2026 Aug 20; 76(3):100093. [Online ahead of print]Matsuoka N, Yamauchi A, Yamaguchi YJP
  • Skeletal muscles can undergo remodeling in response to physical, nutritional, and environmental conditions. To understand skeletal muscle remodeling associated with mammalian hibernation, we investigated the remodeling of skeletal muscles throughout hibernation in Syrian hamsters. We found that hibernating hamsters under winter-like hibernation-induction conditions exhibited lower skeletal muscle…
