- Reduced Lumbar Lordosis in Fibromyalgia: Radiographic Evidence of Lumbar Straightening by L1-L5 Cobb Angle. [Journal Article]J Clin Rheumatol. 2026 Oct 07. [Online ahead of print]JC
- CONCLUSIONS: Patients with fibromyalgia had significantly reduced lumbar lordosis and a higher prevalence of near-complete lumbar straightening than patients with other rheumatic diseases referred for lumbar imaging due to low back pain. Because lumbar straightening was also present in the comparator group, it is not specific enough to serve as a standalone diagnostic sign. Lumbar lordotic straightening may represent an additional radiographic observation associated with fibromyalgia and warrants prospective investigation, including evaluation of its potential relationship with paraspinal muscle tension.

- Addition of low-load blood flow restriction training to conventional physiotherapy improves handgrip strength and function in patients with lateral epicondylitis at the short-term: A single-blind randomized clinical trial. [Journal Article]J Back Musculoskelet Rehabil. 2026 Oct 07; :10538127261494053. [Online ahead of print]JB
- BackgroundEvidence regarding Blood Flow Restriction (BFR) training for the management of lateral epicondylitis (LE) remains limited and conflicting, although BFR has shown potential to improve muscle strength in other musculoskeletal rehabilitation settings.ObjectiveTo investigate the short-term effects of adding low-load BFR training to a conventional physiotherapy (CPT) program on handgrip stre…

- BackgroundDespite widespread digital device use, the relationships of Fear of Missing Out (FoMO) with postural awareness and neck disability remain poorly understood.ObjectiveThis study examined the associations among FoMO, postural awareness, and neck disability, testing whether an indirect association existed through the need for attention regulation in posture.MethodA cross-sectional study inc…

- BackgroundPregnancy induces physiological and biomechanical changes that may affect connective tissue properties. Given the functional relationship between the plantar fascia (PF) and Achilles tendon (AT), these tissues may exhibit trimester-specific changes.ObjectiveThis study aimed to investigate the biomechanical and viscoelastic properties of PF and AT in pregnant women at different trimester…

- IntroductionLow back pain (LBP) is a common and significant occupational health problem affecting nurses.MethodsA stratified sampling method was employed to select 2,012 healthcare workers from four hospitals in China between September 2022 and September 2023. To investigate the current status of and factors influencing low back pain (LBP) in nurses. Individuals were assessed using the General In…

- The role of sleep and circadian rhythms in intervertebral disc degeneration. [Review]Eur Spine J. 2026 Oct 07. [Online ahead of print]ES
- CONCLUSIONS: Sleep and circadian rhythms drive a bidirectional vicious cycle with IDD and play a pivotal role in its progression. Future research should elucidate core clock gene-downstream pathway interactions, develop individualized regimens and expand longitudinal studies to support precision prevention and treatment of IDD and low back pain.

- If I Could Do It Again: Victories and Regrets in the Career of Surgery. [Review]Clin Colon Rectal Surg. 2026 Nov; 39(6):468-470.CC
- If I could do it again, I would-without hesitation. A life in surgery has never been only about perfection, but about purpose. Hippocrates' words remind us that success is not measured only in cures, but in the many ways we sustain life: Relieving pain, restoring dignity, listening, encouraging, and offering comfort when a cure is no longer possible. Looking back, I cannot say I have any regrets,…

- Metagenomic Next-Generation Sequencing in Brucellar Spondylitis with Discordant Serologic Findings in a Non-Endemic Region: A Case Report and Literature Review. [Case Reports]Infect Drug Resist. 2026; 19:627757.ID
- CONCLUSIONS: In this case, mNGS did not identify a previously unsuspected pathogen but added microbiologic evidence from the affected vertebral lesion to an otherwise discordant serologic profile. Tissue-based mNGS may be useful in selected patients with suspected BS when conventional serologic findings are discordant and culture is negative.

- Paraganglioma of the Lumbar Spine: A Case Report. [Case Reports]Cureus. 2026 Sep; 18(9):e115849.C
- Paragangliomas are rare neuroendocrine tumors, with spinal involvement representing a small minority of cases. Lumbar spinal paragangliomas are especially uncommon and may present with nonspecific symptoms, often mimicking more common intradural tumors. We describe a 49-year-old female who presented with chronic low back and sacral pain, along with bilateral lower extremity symptoms. Lumbar MRI d…

- Peripheral nerve field stimulation for chronic low back pain: a systematic review. [Review]Pain Rep. 2026 Dec; 11(6):e1488.PR
- Chronic low back pain (CLBP) presents a major challenge in pain management, often persisting despite standard therapies. Peripheral nerve field stimulation (PNFS), also known as subcutaneous stimulation, offers a minimally invasive neuromodulation approach that may improve outcomes for these patients. This systematic review evaluates the evidence on PNFS, alone or combined with spinal cord stimul…

- Low Back Pain and Psychosocial Work Factors Associated with Sleep Problems among University and Hospital Employees: A Cross-sectional Study. [Journal Article]JMA J. 2026 Sep 15; 9(5):1133-1141.JJ
- CONCLUSIONS: Among employees at a medical university and its affiliated hospital, LBP showed an independent and dose-response association with sleep problems after accounting for psychosocial work factors, clinical stress-related symptoms, and job category. By simultaneously evaluating musculoskeletal symptoms and psychosocial occupational factors in a large multiprofessional workforce, this study supports integrated occupational health approaches targeting both LBP and modifiable workplace factors.

- Gut mucosal microbiota and local intervertebral disc immunity: candidate circulating-cytokine-independent pathways informed by Mendelian randomization evidence. [Review]Front Immunol. 2026; 17:1938023.FI
- Chronic low back pain secondary to intervertebral disc degeneration (IVDD) is the leading cause of disability across all musculoskeletal disorders worldwide. For decades, gut-disc crosstalk research has been framed almost exclusively by a systemic inflammatory paradigm, in which circulating pro-inflammatory cytokines (e.g., TNF-α, IL-1β) act as obligate mediators linking gut microbial dysbiosis t…
