- Comparative antimicrobial activity of crude and partially purified Weissella cibaria NM1 postbiotics against Klebsiella pneumoniae ATCC13382. [Journal Article]Antonie Van Leeuwenhoek. 2026 Oct 09; 119(11).AV
- Carbapenem-resistant Klebsiella pneumoniae (CRKP) is of clinical concern due to its resilience against antibiotics. Among potential alternatives for treatment, postbiotics from lactic acid bacteria (LAB) incite interest due to having strong antimicrobial activities whilst being generally recognised as safe. However, insights into their components and interactions remain limited. Weissella cibaria…

- Studies on Phenylalanine Metabolism in Enhancing the ε-Polylysine-Mediated Killing Effect of Oxytetracycline-resistant Aeromonas hydrophila. [Journal Article]J Appl Microbiol. 2026 Oct 09. [Online ahead of print]JA
- CONCLUSIONS: These results demonstrated that ε-PL exerted its bactericidal effect against strain OTC-A01 mainly through disrupting cell envelope integrity, accompanied by significant downregulation of the phenylalanine metabolism pathway. Notably, supplementation with downregulated metabolites from this pathway, particularly 2-phenylacetamide, significantly enhanced the bactericidal effect of ε-PL, suggesting that metabolic modulation may serve as an adjunctive strategy to potentiate the membrane-directed antibacterial action of ε-PL.

- Antimicrobial resistance is an urgent global public health threat, killing at least 1.27 million people worldwide and associated with nearly 5 million deaths. Antibiotic resistance has been recently recognized by the WHO as a global health emergency. In this scenario, the research and development of novel derivatives specifically active against resistant pathogens became an urgent need. Pyrazole-…

- PHD1/IKKβ/NF-κB signaling pathway regulates macrophage polarization and is involved in hypoxia-tolerant large yellow croaker (Larimichthys crocea) against Aeromonas hydrophila infection. [Journal Article]Fish Shellfish Immunol. 2026 Oct 08; :111768. [Online ahead of print]FS
- The hypoxia-tolerant group (T group) large yellow croaker (Larimichthys crocea) exhibits high survival rates when infected with Aeromonas hydrophila. To elucidate the underlying mechanism, this study explored the potential new role of proline hydroxylase domain-containing protein 1 (PHD1) in immunity, and examined the differences in PHD1/IKKβ/NF-κB signaling pathway between the T group and normal…

- Molecular Characterization of vanA and blaTEM Mutant Genes in Enterococcus faecalis: In silico and in vitro investigation of Sitagliptin as a potential Resistance Modulator. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: In conclusion, sitagliptin demonstrated a modulatory effect on the major resistance genes (vanA and blaTEM) in E. faecalis without clear bactericidal activity, indicating its potential role as a resistance-modifying agent. These findings encourage further investigation of sitagliptin as a possible adjunct therapeutic option against multidrug-resistant enterococcal infections.

- Development of a predictive platform for target concentration intervention of aminoglycosides. [Journal Article]Transl Clin Pharmacol. 2026 Sep; 34(3):139-153.TC
- Aminoglycosides, including gentamicin, are potent bactericidal antibiotics that are widely utilized for the treatment of severe gram-negative bacterial infections. These drugs demonstrate a concentration-dependent bactericidal effect, whereby higher concentrations result in more rapid bacterial elimination. Despite their efficacy, determining optimal dosing regimens is challenging due to signific…

- Aminoglycoside antibiotics drive RNA phase separation. [Journal Article]bioRxiv. 2026 Aug 13.B
- Aminoglycoside antibiotics bind RNA with high affinity through networks of amine and hydroxyl contacts, yet whether this multivalent binding can drive macroscopic RNA phase transitions has never been tested. Here we show that aminoglycosides are a class of small-molecule RNA condensers, and we take neomycin B (neoB), an FDA-approved member of the family, as a representative drug through which to …
