  • Decoding strain level interactions between Vibrio cholerae and gut microbiota. [Journal Article]
    Virulence. 2026 Dec; 17(1):2708414.Chen G, Li S, … Liu ZV
  • Vibrio cholerae is a highly motile, comma-shaped, Gram-negative bacterium, which can cause severe diarrhea, dehydration, and even human death. Accumulating evidence suggests that gut microbiota and their culture supernatants affect the fitness and colonization of V. cholerae in the host intestine. However, the effects of the most abundant gut bacterial strains on the physiological activities of V…
  • In situ structures of plant photosystem supercomplexes. [Journal Article]
    Nature. 2026 Jul 29. [Online ahead of print]Li J, Elias E, … Zhu JNat
  • Photosynthesis sustains life on Earth by converting light to chemical energy through the coordinated action of photosystem I (PSI) and photosystem II (PSII) within thylakoid membranes1-4. Although structures of isolated photosystems are available, their native organization in chloroplasts remains unknown. Here, using in situ cryo-electron microscopy, we directly imaged Oryza sativa (rice) chlorop…
  • Sustainable nutrition systems with alternative proteins for low-impact food future. [Review]
    Front Nutr. 2026; 13:1883773.Almutairi SMFN
  • Feeding the world's increasing population is an enormous task for our current food system. Traditional animal agriculture harms the environment through high land and water use and significant greenhouse gas emission. Sustainable food systems will promote a low-impact food future through the use of alternative protein sources. Alternative protein sources include plant-based, microbially based, and…
  • Risk factors for hospital readmission in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease: a systematic review and meta-analysis. [Systematic Review]
    Front Med (Lausanne). 2026; 13:1836031.Tian H, Shen W, … Qin QFM
  • CONCLUSIONS: This meta-analysis examined readmission rates and factors associated with readmission among patients with COPD. The findings show that the 1-year readmission remains common and is influenced by multiple clinical factors. These results underscore the need for early identification of high-risk patients and timely interventions to improve long-term COPD management. Sensitivity analyses showed that the findings were stable, and the included studies were generally of moderate to high methodological quality, supporting the reliability and clinical relevance of the conclusions.
  • Robust Biomass Hydrogel Electrolyte via Cytoplasm Reconstruction for Ah-Level Aqueous Batteries. [Journal Article]
Adv Mater. 2026 Jul 28; :e74309. [Online ahead of print]Su TT, Xu M, … Chen ZWAM
  • Developing sustainable and economic biomass hydrogel electrolyte is highly desired but confronts significant challenges for solid-state aqueous batteries. Herein, we propose biomass-cytoplasm reconstruction strategy and develop a type of biomass hydrogel electrolyte with robust mechanical strength of 11.6 MPa, high ion conductivity of 20.27 mS cm[-1], and ultrahigh diffusion coefficient of 1.4 × …
  • Regulated cell death-induced coagulation dysfunction in sepsis. [Review]
J Thromb Thrombolysis. 2026 Jul 28. [Online ahead of print]Li M, Li A, Tan SJT
  • Regulated cell death (RCD) has emerged as a pivotal upstream mediator supported by correlative preclinical and clinical evidence in the pathogenesis of sepsis-induced coagulopathy (SIC), a life-threatening complication strongly linked to increased mortality. RCD-guided phenotyping integrates pyroptosis, NETosis, ferroptosis, necroptosis, and PANoptosis pathways to systematically redefine SIC - fr…
  • Genomic insights of lipid content in rice bran oil through M-QTL analysis. [Journal Article]
    Sci Rep. 2026 Jul 28; 16(1).Kanth K, Quaiyum Z, … Siddiqui MHSR
  • Rice bran oil (RBO) is highly valued for its beneficial fatty acid profile and wide applications in the food, pharmaceutical and skincare industries. It offers numerous health benefits, including reduced bad cholesterol and antioxidant activity, due to its high levels of vitamin E and γ-oryzanol. Enhancing oil composition and understanding the complex genetic architecture underlying lipid metabol…
