  • Adenomyosis and Endometrial Polyps: A Systematic Review of Coexistence Patterns and Diagnostic Contexts. [Review]
    Int J Womens Health. 2026; 18:643503.Chen Y, Yang SIJ
  • CONCLUSIONS: AM and EPs are repeatedly identified together across diverse gynecological pathways, but the observed likelihood of identifying the alternative lesion is strongly pathway-dependent. Identification of one lesion should not end diagnostic consideration when symptoms, imaging findings, infertility, or treatment response remain incompletely explained. Current evidence supports targeted consideration of the alternative lesion, with further evaluation guided by symptoms and clinical pathway, rather than universal dual-pathology screening.
  • GeneReviews®: Peutz-Jeghers Syndrome [BOOK]
GeneReviews®. University of Washington, Seattle: Seattle (WA).Adam MP, Ardinger HH, … Amemiya AMcGarrity TJ, Amos CI, … Baker MJBOOK
  • Peutz-Jeghers syndrome (PJS) is characterized by the association of gastrointestinal (GI) polyposis, mucocutaneous pigmentation, and cancer predisposition. PJS-type hamartomatous polyps are most common in the small intestine (in order of prevalence: jejunum, ileum, and duodenum) but can also occur in the stomach, large bowel, and extraintestinal sites including the renal pelvis, bronchus, gall bl…
  • Gallbladder involvement in metachromatic leukodystrophy: a systematic review and comparison of American and European surveillance recommendations. [Review]
    Mol Genet Metab. 2026 Sep 28; 149(3):110283. [Online ahead of print]Lipiński P, Skarżyńska A, … Paprocka JMG
  • CONCLUSIONS: Gallbladder disease is a clinically meaningful systemic manifestation of MLD across the phenotypic spectrum. Comparison of the evidence synthesized in this review with existing American and European consensus recommendations supports baseline and longitudinal ultrasound assessment of the gallbladder, including before and after disease-modifying treatment. We propose a practical approach to surveillance and escalation of care that is intended to support clinical decision-making rather than serve as a formally validated guideline.
  • GeneReviews®: Primary Familial Gastrointestinal Stromal Tumors [BOOK]
GeneReviews®. University of Washington, Seattle: Seattle (WA).Adam MP, Bick S, … Amemiya AFontebasso AM, Kim RHBOOK
  • Primary familial gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GIST) are characterized by the presence of typically multifocal GIST that most often involve the stomach. Additional gastrointestinal (GI) manifestations can include inflammatory fibroid polyps most often in the stomach or small bowel and interstitial cell of Cajal hyperplasia occurring throughout the GI tract. Skin hyperpigmentation typically inv…
  • The diagnostic value of serum glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) levels in endometrial cancer among obese women. [Journal Article]
Gynecol Oncol. 2026 Sep 28; 213:102-108. [Online ahead of print]Durmuş AB, Yücel GSGO
  • CONCLUSIONS: Lower serum GLP-1 levels were independently associated with endometrial cancer in obese, non-diabetic women. Although GLP-1 was negatively correlated with CRP, its association with endometrial cancer remained significant after adjustment for CRP and other relevant factors, suggesting that this relationship may not be explained solely by systemic inflammation. Serum GLP-1 may have potential as an adjunctive biomarker for risk stratification; however, prospective multicenter validation is required.
  • Concomitant Cholecystectomy During Bariatric Surgery: Surgical Technique and Safety. [Journal Article]
    J Laparoendosc Adv Surg Tech A. 2026 Sep 27; :10926429261491052. [Online ahead of print]Atar C, Deniz M, … Uras CJL
  • CONCLUSIONS: Simultaneous laparoscopic cholecystectomy can be incorporated into bariatric surgery in patients with imaging-confirmed biliary pathology with a low short-term complication rate and without the need for an additional trocar in this single-team series. Prospective, multicenter, randomized studies remain necessary to define the optimal management of asymptomatic gallstone disease at the time of bariatric surgery.
