- European society for organ transplantation clinical practice guideline on prevention and treatment of chronic lung allograft dysfunction. [Practice Guideline]Transpl Int. 2026; 39:16959.TI
- Chronic lung allograft dysfunction (CLAD) is the primary cause of late graft loss after lung transplantation, affecting up to half of lung transplant recipients within 5 years and presenting with heterogeneous phenotypes, most commonly bronchiolitis obliterans syndrome (BOS) and restrictive allograft syndrome. Prevention and treatment of CLAD are challenging. This European Society for Organ Trans…

- GeneReviews®: Cystic Fibrosis and Congenital Absence of the Vas Deferens [BOOK]
- Cystic fibrosis (CF) is a multisystem disease affecting epithelia of the respiratory tract, exocrine pancreas, intestine, hepatobiliary system, and exocrine sweat glands. Morbidities include progressive obstructive lung disease with bronchiectasis, frequent hospitalizations for pulmonary disease, pancreatic insufficiency and malnutrition, recurrent sinusitis and bronchitis, and male infertility. …
- Network pharmacology and metabolomics reveal the mechanism of Qi Feng Gu Biao Granules against chronic bronchitis-related cough: a core role for the AGEs/RAGE pathway. [Journal Article]J Pharmacol Sci. 2026 Nov; 162(3):179-196.JP
- Cough is a prominent and often persistent manifestation of chronic bronchitis (CB) that is frequently difficult to resolve. While Qi Feng Gu Biao Granules (QFGBG) is a traditional Chinese medicine commonly used to treat CB, its pharmacological basis for CB-related cough remains unclear. This study characterized the chemical profile of QFGBG by UPLC-Q-TOF/MS, evaluated its antitussive and anti-infl…

- Molecular epidemiology and genetic diversity of infectious bronchitis virus in Iranian poultry: A systematic review. [Review]Poult Sci. 2026 Sep 16; 105(12):107786. [Online ahead of print]PS
- Infectious bronchitis virus (IBV) is a highly contagious avian coronavirus that causes substantial economic losses in poultry production due to respiratory disease, reduced performance, and impaired egg production. In Iran, IBV has been repeatedly reported over the past two decades; however, evidence on diagnostic approaches and circulating lineages remains fragmented. This systematic review aime…

- Integrated multiomics reveals a clinically relevant CXCL8-centric protein network in pediatric postinfectious bronchiolitis obliterans. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: Multiomic integration revealed molecular signatures characterized by a CXCL8-centric protein network, a potential disruption of vitamin B6 homeostasis, and altered pathways involved in epithelial differentiation, immunity, and metabolism. These signatures converge on core pathogenic mechanisms within the airway microenvironment, including epithelial injury, inflammatory activation, tissue remodeling, and metabolic dysregulation. Collectively, these findings establish an integrative framework for understanding the pathogenesis of PIBO and highlight potential molecular targets for biomarker discovery and therapeutic intervention.

- Effects of a soluble essential oil additive on inflammatory response, epithelial integrity, and performance of broilers subjected to an experimental infectious bronchitis virus challenge. [Journal Article]Poult Sci. 2026 Sep 23; 105(12):107832. [Online ahead of print]PS
- Infectious bronchitis virus (IBV) remains one of the major respiratory pathogens affecting broiler production, compromising performance, respiratory integrity, and immune function. This study evaluated the effects of a water-soluble additive containing eucalyptus, camphor, mint, and copaiba essential oils administered either by environmental spraying or through the drinking water to broilers subj…

- Bacterial Pneumonia in Horses: Insights from a 10-Year European Single-Centre Retrospective Study. [Journal Article]
- Bacterial pneumonia in horses typically occurs secondary to predisposing factors that compromise defence mechanisms. This 10-year retrospective study evaluated bacterial pneumonia in 81 horses treated at the equine clinic of Freie Universität Berlin from January 2015 to December 2024. Horses infected with primary pathogens such as Rhodococcus equi or Streptococcus equi ssp. equi were not included…

- Real-World Effectiveness of Nirsevimab Against RSV-LRTI and Bronchiolitis Hospitalization: Results from the 2024-2025 Italian Universal Immunization Campaign in Newborns. [Multicenter Study]
- Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) remains a leading cause of lower respiratory tract infection (LRTI) and hospitalization in early infancy. Following the introduction of universal nirsevimab prophylaxis in Italy during the 2024-2025 RSV season, we evaluated its real-world effectiveness against RSV-associated hospitalization and severe clinical outcomes within a test-negative design framework. We …

- Early Caloric Adequacy and Hospital Length of Stay in Children Younger than Two Years Hospitalized with Bronchiolitis. [Journal Article]
- Background/Objectives: Feeding difficulties are common during bronchiolitis hospitalization and may lead to reduced caloric intake. Evidence evaluating the relationship between caloric adequacy and hospital length of stay (LOS) remains limited. We aimed to characterize daily caloric adequacy during bronchiolitis hospitalization and evaluate its relationship with LOS. Methods: An ambispective coho…

- Active Case Finding of Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease in Romanian Primary Care. [Journal Article]
- Background and Objectives: Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is one of the leading causes of death worldwide and represents a major contributor to the global burden of disease. According to the World Health Organization it is the third leading cause of death worldwide and the seventh leading cause of poor health worldwide. Our aim was to evaluate the effectiveness of active case findin…

- A Colloidal Gold Immunochromatographic Strip Based on a Conserved Epitope Peptide for Rapid Detection of Antibodies Against Avian Infectious Bronchitis Virus. [Journal Article]
- Avian infectious bronchitis virus (IBV) is widely distributed worldwide and causes substantial economic losses to the poultry industry. Because IBV undergoes frequent mutation, prevention and control of infection remain challenging. Immunization is an important measure for the prevention and control of IB. Therefore, there is an urgent need for a rapid, sensitive, specific, and convenient method …

- Trends and estimated costs of hospitalizations potentially associated with respiratory syncytial virus among children in Brazil, 2014-2025. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: Our findings revealed distinct seasonal and regional patterns in hospitalizations and a post-pandemic increase in costs. The association between prolonged hospitalization and higher expenditures underscores the need for targeted, region-specific preventive strategies and timely clinical interventions, to reduce the growing economic burden on the system.

- Recombinant GI-19 infectious bronchitis virus induction of humoral immunosuppression with reduced HI antibody response following Newcastle disease virus vaccination and bursal cell apoptosis. [Journal Article]
- Pathological changes and viral presence in the bursa of Fabricius (BF) have been reported, but the immunosuppression of infectious bronchitis virus (IBV) remains poorly characterized. Here, we systematically evaluated the pathogenicity of two GI-19 lineage IBV isolates, CK/CH/FJ-B3/2023 (bursal origin) and CK/CH/FJ-T5/2023 (tracheal origin), in 7-day-old specific pathogen-free (SPF) chicks, inclu…
