- A ruptured internal carotid artery blood blister-like aneurysm with rebleeding after single-layer neck-bridging stenting and complete obliteration after double-layer stenting: A case report. [Case Reports]Surg Neurol Int. 2026; 17:583.SN
- CONCLUSIONS: For a ruptured internal carotid artery BBA, a single-layer LVIS stent was placed as initial treatment, followed by placement of a second layer during the subacute phase. Although no ischemic complications occurred, rebleeding developed. Since a single-layer placement may not prevent rebleeding, close follow-up is necessary after treatment, and prompt intervention is required if any changes occur in the aneurysmal segment.

- Case Report: Atypical hemolytic uremic syndrome triggered by Rhinovirus/Enterovirus infection with cutaneous thrombotic microangiopathy requiring surgical management. [Case Reports]Front Pediatr. 2026; 14:1973640.FP
- Atypical hemolytic uremic syndrome (aHUS) represents a complement-mediated thrombotic microangiopathy (TMA) characterized by microangiopathic hemolytic anemia, thrombocytopenia, and end-organ damage, most frequently affecting the kidneys. Although infection is a well-recognized precipitant, extensive skin involvement is uncommon. Here, we describe a 14-year-old boy who developed aHUS following Rh…

- Multi-matrix postmortem distribution in fatal venlafaxine-mirtazapine intoxication. [Journal Article]Int J Legal Med. 2026 Nov 03. [Online ahead of print]IJ
- We describe a fatal case of combined venlafaxine-mirtazapine poisoning in a 33-year-old man with schizoaffective disorder, who was found dead at home next to empty venlafaxine blister packs. Systematic toxicological screening (LC-MS/MS and full-scan GC-MS) identified venlafaxine, O-desmethylvenlafaxine, mirtazapine, N-desmethylmirtazapine, delorazepam and lorazepam; these analytes were subsequent…

- Seeing the Risk, Missing the Care: Foot Care Practices Among Patients with Diabetic Retinopathy in Coastal India. [Journal Article]Ann Afr Med. 2026 Nov 02. [Online ahead of print]AA
- CONCLUSIONS: Nearly four in five patients with DR demonstrated suboptimal foot care. Health literacy, rather than disease burden, drives preventive behavior. The ophthalmology follow-up visit is an underutilized but high-yield platform for foot care screening and education in this high-risk group.

- Localized Morbilliform Drug Eruption Following Sildenafil Exposure: A Case Report. [Case Reports]Cureus. 2026 Oct; 18(10):e117354.C
- Sildenafil is a commonly used medication for the treatment of erectile dysfunction and is generally well-tolerated. Cutaneous adverse drug reactions associated with sildenafil are uncommon and have been described in various clinical forms. We report a case of a 34-year-old man with no significant medical history who developed an asymptomatic, localized morbilliform eruption four days after taking…

- Necrotizing Sweet Syndrome as a Mimic of Necrotizing Soft Tissue Infection: A Narrative Review. [Review]Clin Cosmet Investig Dermatol. 2026; 19:641833.CC
- Necrotizing Sweet syndrome (NSS) is a rare and severe variant of Sweet syndrome characterized by erythematous and painful lesions accompanied by systemic inflammation. Because it closely mimics necrotizing soft tissue infections (NSTIs), NSS is frequently misdiagnosed, resulting in inappropriate treatment. This study reviewed published cases of NSS and characterized its demographic, clinical, and…

- Atopic Dermatitis or Subacute Cutaneous Lupus: Resolving a Diagnostic Challenge Through Clinicopathologic Correlation. [Case Reports]Cureus. 2026 Oct; 18(10):e117337.C
- This report presents a 44-year-old Mexican woman with hypothyroidism and atopic dermatitis who developed severe mixed-pattern hepatotoxicity after a 10-day course of an over-the-counter joint supplement (Ismerely FTX Plus) of incompletely disclosed composition. A public US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Medication Health Fraud Notification confirmed the product was adulterated with undeclared…

- Short-term visual and ocular responses to a myopia control contact lens: influence of optical zones and hydration techniques. [Journal Article]Cont Lens Anterior Eye. 2026 Oct 31; 49(6):102865. [Online ahead of print]CL
- CONCLUSIONS: The evaluated contact lenses showed good short-term performance and tolerance. A smaller central optical zone was associated with modest reductions in contrast sensitivity and perceived visual quality, without clear advantages in other outcomes. Hydration modality did not influence performance.

- Landmark-Based Anatomical Dissection and Real-Time Functional Assessment of the Mouse Eustachian Tube. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: We developed a portable pressure-based system and a landmark-guided dissection workflow for structural and functional evaluation of the mouse ET. These methods provide a practical methodological approach for studies using mouse models of acute inflammation-associated ETD.

- Accounting for informal waste picking in a Global North city: the case of Barcelona. [Journal Article]Waste Manag. 2026 Oct 30; 228:115936. [Online ahead of print]WM
- Informal waste pickers (IWPs) form an integral part of the waste management systems of cities around the world, playing a vital yet undervalued role in environmental sustainability and urban circularity. A well-known phenomenon in the Global South, informal waste picking is becoming more visible in Global North cities, but it is still under-researched, especially in quantitative terms. This study…

- Contrast media extravasation following CT angiography in a patient with lower-extremity atherosclerotic occlusive disease: a case report. [Case Reports]
- Contrast media extravasation (CME) is a recognized complication of intravenous iodinated contrast administration during computed tomography (CT) examinations, with a reported incidence rate ranging between 0.1% and 1.2%. Although most extravasation injuries are mild and self-limiting, a small proportion of them progress to skin blistering, tissue necrosis, or compartment syndrome. Blister formati…

- Lung cancer associated with cystic airspaces (LCCA) is an increasingly recognised yet under-characterised presentation of non-small cell lung cancer, accounting for approximately 1-4% of cases. Despite growing awareness driven by thin-section computed tomography and lung cancer screening, LCCA remains absent from major international guidelines and classifications, including those of the National …

- Recreational substance abuse causes a broad spectrum of acute and chronic pulmonary injuries through inhalation and intravenous injection. Imaging findings often overlap with infection, pulmonary edema, and other inflammatory lung diseases, particularly when an exposure history is unavailable. This review discusses the mechanisms and characteristic CT imaging patterns of substance abuse-related l…

- Advances in the treatment of intracranial blood blister-like aneurysms: a comprehensive review from surgical approaches to endovascular therapy. [Review]
- Intracranial blood blister-like aneurysms (BBAs) constitute a rare but clinically challenging subset of cerebrovascular lesions, distinguished by their fragile, thin-walled morphology and a tendency to arise at non-branching sites of intracranial arteries, most frequently in the supraclinoid segment of the internal carotid artery (ICA). Managing BBAs is particularly difficult due to their high pr…

- Temporal links in avian migration schedules across the annual cycle. [Journal Article]
- Each year, migratory birds move thousands of kilometres across international borders to track optimal environmental conditions. How tightly annual-cycle events are linked and how much flexibility exists in migration schedules will determine how vulnerable migratory birds are to environmental change. Using a global tracking database, we reconstructed full annual-cycle schedules of 2,324 individual…
