- Bilayer TPU films integrating pH-responsive bromocresol purple-fluorescein indicators and carvacrol/tea tree oil-loaded HKUST-1@alkaline lignin: Visualization, controlled release, and meat preservation. [Journal Article]Food Res Int. 2026 Nov 30; 244:120455.FR
- A bilayer TPU-based intelligent packaging film integrating colorimetric sensing and antibacterial preservation was developed. The film consisted of a dense cast TPU indicator layer containing a bromocresol purple/fluorescein indicator and an electrospun TPU antibacterial layer loaded with lignin-modified HKUST-1 loaded with carvacrol and tea tree oil. The indicator showed reversible responses to …

- Influence of Clinical Crown Length and Alignment Method on Accuracy and Buccal Occlusal Scanning Time in Maxillo-Mandibular Registration Using an Intraoral Scanner. [Journal Article]J Dent. 2026 Oct 10; :107102. [Online ahead of print]JD
- CONCLUSIONS: Reduced clinical crown length may compromise the overall trueness and efficiency of digital maxillomandibular registration, although regional deviations do not necessarily increase uniformly across the dental arch. Manual alignment achieves comparable accuracy with shorter scanning time, particularly in dentitions with markedly reduced clinical crown exposure.

- Heparin Can Augment Extracellular Vesicle Yield by Inhibiting Reuptake in Donor Cells During Cell Propagation. [Journal Article]J Extracell Vesicles. 2026 Oct; 15(10):e70382.JE
- Extracellular vesicles (EVs) mediate cell-to-cell communication in development, health and disease. Heparin is a common component in human induced pluripotent stem cell (hiPSC) media but its impact on hiPSC-EVs beyond stabilizing growth factors is unknown. Published evidence indicates heparin dose-dependent EV uptake inhibition in heterotypic target cells. We asked if heparin affects hiPSC-EV yie…

- Defective Inflammation Resolution in Cystic Fibrosis: Cellular Mechanisms and Emerging Pro-resolving Therapies in the CFTR Modulator Era. [Journal Article]Curr Top Microbiol Immunol. 2026 Oct 11. [Online ahead of print]CT
- Cystic fibrosis (CF) is a fatal monogenic hereditary disease that affects approximately 100,000 people worldwide. It is caused by mutations in the cystic fibrosis transmembrane conductance regulator (CFTR) gene, impairing biosynthesis and/or function of a protein that regulates chloride and bicarbonate fluxes. CFTR loss of function is associated with aberrant, non-resolving inflammation that in c…

- Rapid Radiological Disappearance of Pancreatic Duct Stones Following Oral Trimethadione. [Case Reports]ACG Case Rep J. 2026 Oct; 13(10):e02359.AC
- A 59-year-old man with chronic pancreatitis, surgically altered anatomy, and an implantable cardioverter-defibrillator presented with acute exacerbation caused by cast-like obstructive pancreatic duct stones. Endoscopic therapy was considered technically difficult, and extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy was avoided. While delayed surgical drainage was being considered, off-label oral trimethad…

- Systems-informed approaches to evaluating population health interventions: Reflections from three case studies. [Journal Article]Evaluation (Lond). 2026 Oct; 32(4):640-646.E
- There have been many calls for systems-informed approaches to evaluation. Population health interventions, which often focus on improving the upstream determinants of health through large-scale change, seem well-suited to systems-informed approaches to evaluation. The purported benefits and appropriateness of taking a systems-based approach to population health intervention evaluation have been e…

- Microbiome-aware oral drug delivery: excipient-microbiome interactions and nanocarrier design rules for predictable formulation performance. [Review]Front Pharmacol. 2026; 17:1942291.FP
- Oral drug delivery remains the predominant administration route, but formulation strategies rarely account systematically for the gut microbiome. The microbiome can alter drug metabolism, excipient behavior, nanocarrier interactions, and interpatient variability. This review integrates evidence on microbial drug metabolism, excipient-microbiome interactions, nanocarrier engineering, microbiota-re…

- Dimensional stability of additively manufactured diagnostic maxillary casts: Influence of cast-base design, PLA filament type, infill density, and storage duration. [Journal Article]J Prosthet Dent. 2026 Oct 09. [Online ahead of print]JP
- CONCLUSIONS: The dimensional stability of FFM-printed casts was influenced by the material formulation, structural design, and internal support architecture. With adequate filament selection and printing settings, tested casts exhibit stable geometry for a minimum of 4 weeks.

- Hybrid aluminium matrix composites (HAMMCs) are of interest for lightweight components requiring improved resistance to wear and friction. The present study investigates the effects of solution treatment temperature, holding time and cooling method on the tribological behaviour of stir-cast LM26/graphite/fly ash hybrid aluminium matrix composites. A Taguchi L27 orthogonal array was used to evalua…

- Integrative Characterization of Tight Sandstone: A Comparison Between the Bohai Bay Basin and Ordos Basin. [Journal Article]ACS Omega. 2026 Oct 06; 11(39):59968-59979.AO
- Tight sandstone has emerged as a primary focus for global oil-gas resource exploration and for increasing reserves and production. Accurate characterization of the microscopic pore structure of tight sandstone reservoirs is crucial for identifying and classifying high-quality reservoirs. This study examines tight sandstone reservoirs in the Sha-4 member of the Dongying area in the Bohai Bay Basin…

- Thromboprophylaxis in Non-operative Lower-Limb Immobilization: Risk Stratification Identifies Whom to Spare, Not Whom to Treat - A Narrative Review. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: Current evidence establishes risk stratification as an instrument for de-escalation rather than escalation, since roughly three-quarters of immobilized patients can be identified as low risk and safely left untreated. In the high-risk minority, prophylaxis remains reasonable and permitted by guidance but is unproven for symptomatic VTE and should be offered as such. The priority trial is prophylaxis versus no prophylaxis in score-defined high-risk patients, not a comparison between agents.

- Indicator parameters of biofilm quantity in full-scale drinking water distribution system samplers identified by multivariable statistical methods. [Journal Article]J Microbiol Methods. 2026 Oct 08; :107725. [Online ahead of print]JM
- This study aims to identify indicator parameters for biofilms in drinking water distribution systems (DWDS). Biofilms grown on coupons of three pipe materials (cast iron, cement, and polyvinyl chloride) in two sampler types (pipe loops and annular reactors) installed at full scale DWDS were quantified by three analytical methods: heterotrophic plate count (HPC), total cell count by flow cytometry…

- Implementing the advantages of preceramic polymers in modern ultra-high temperature ceramic (UHTC) manufacturing remains a significant challenge due to the limited preceramic polymer chemistry, which often is not fully amenable to ceramic processing conditions. Here, we present a solvent-activated, zirconocene dichloride-mediated ring-opening of poly(glycidyl methacrylate) that generates a zircon…
