- Enhancing the functionality and pH responsiveness of anthocyanin-based intelligent packaging for food quality monitoring. [Review]Food Res Int. 2026 Nov 01; 243(Pt 2):120396.FR
- Anthocyanins, naturally occurring flavonoid pigments, have attracted substantial interest for intelligent food packaging due to their pronounced halochromic behavior, antioxidant activity, and biocompatibility. This review critically evaluates recent advances in green extraction technologies, including ultrasound-, microwave-, enzyme-, pulsed electric field-, and supercritical fluid-assisted extr…

- Structure-property relations of TEMPO-oxidized bamboo nanocellulose-based aerogels and films in food packaging applications. [Journal Article]Int J Biol Macromol. 2026 Sep 07; :154377. [Online ahead of print]IJ
- Bamboo, as a renewable biomass resource, presents significant potential for sustainable food packaging applications. In this study, cellulose nanofibrils were extracted from bamboo powder via sequential acid/alkali purification, TEMPO oxidation, and high-intensity ultrasonication. The resulting bamboo oxidized nanocellulose (BONC) was fabricated into aerogels via ice-templating and into films via…

- Kirkwood-Dirac Nonpositivity Is a Necessary Resource for Quantum Computing. [Journal Article]Phys Rev Lett. 2026 Aug 21; 137(8):080601.PR
- We elucidate the boundary between classical and quantum computation by constructing qubit Clifford circuits with nonstabilizer inputs that can be efficiently simulated classically. We do so by casting the quantum circuits realizable by defect braiding in the surface code in terms of a Kirkwood-Dirac (KD) quasiprobability distribution, a generalization of a joint probability distribution. If this …

- Directionally Aligned, Defect-Suppressed Non-oxidatively Exfoliated Graphene Flakes for High EMI Shielding Performance. [Journal Article]ACS Appl Mater Interfaces. 2026 Sep 08. [Online ahead of print]AA
- In this study, we report the development of high-performance electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding composites incorporating directionally aligned non-oxidatively exfoliated graphene flakes (NOGF) within a polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) matrix. The NOGF was synthesized via exfoliation of graphite intercalation compounds without oxidative treatment, thereby preserving their intrinsic graphitic …

- Automatic probe guidance for volumetric liver ultrasound acquisition via imitation learning from a virtual expert. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: This work presents a data-efficient and clinically practical solution for automatic probe guidance in volumetric liver US. By leveraging realistic simulation, virtual expert demonstrations, and anatomy-aware image representations, the proposed framework enables effective learning of probe movements without requiring manual trajectory annotations or additional sensors. The results suggest strong potential for integration into computer-assisted and robotic US systems.

- Decoding TnsC Filament Assembly in CRISPR-Associated Transposons Using Interpretable Deep Learning and Molecular Simulations. [Journal Article]J Am Chem Soc. 2026 Sep 02; 148(34):36530-36544.JA
- CRISPR-associated transposons (CASTs) enable programmable DNA integration, yet how the TnsC regulator forms processive filaments on DNA to coordinate RNA-guided transposition in type V-K CAST systems remains unknown. Here, we integrate large-scale molecular simulations, interpretable deep learning using graph attention networks (GATs), and causal inference analyses to define the molecular determi…

- TPGS-stabilized pyrimethamine micelles promote ROS-associated apoptosis in MDA-MB-231 cells and suppress tumour progression in a murine lymphoma model. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: These findings support further preclinical investigation of TPGS-based pyrimethamine micelles as a potential anticancer delivery strategy. Additional studies are required to confirm their mechanism, pharmacokinetic behaviour, long-term safety, and efficacy in breast-cancer-specific animal models.

- Embolization of ruptured flow-related aneurysms arising from basilar artery perforators feeding lateral pontine arteriovenous malformations: a case series. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: This small series demonstrates that embolization of ruptured flow-related aneurysms on BA perforators that supply lateral pontine AVMs can be safe. A larger series is expected in the future.

- Archeology-inspired enhancement strategy for aluminum alloys. [Journal Article]
- Metal casting naturally produces a fine-grained chill layer at the mold interface, although this surface layer is commonly removed during machining. Inspired by archeological observations of ancient Cu-Sn bronzes, we investigated the effects of preserving this naturally formed metallic "skin" in modern A356 aluminum alloys. In bronzes, retaining the chill layer reduced corrosion current densities…

- Two Cases of Conservative Treatment for Fractured Trapezial Tubercles. [Case Reports]
- Among non-scaphoid carpal fractures, trapezium fractures are uncommon but rank as the third or fourth most frequent. A few international studies suggest that these fractures represent 1.5-3% of fractures of the hand. There are very few reports on the conservative treatment of patients with this type of injury owing to various complications. Herein, we present two cases of trapezial tubercle fract…

- Different tools, same diagnosis? A comparison of digital orthodontic model analysis methods: A retrospective cross-sectional study. [Journal Article]Int Orthod. 2026 Sep 04; 24(4S):101239. [Online ahead of print]IO
- CONCLUSIONS: The free orthodontic software produced tooth-width and arch space deficiency measurements clinically comparable to those of the commercial platform and within clinically acceptable agreement limits of plaster-cast calliper measurements. Bolton ratio agreement was less interchangeable due to the cumulative aggregation of small per-tooth errors. These findings support the adoption of freely available orthodontics-specific software, particularly where commercial licensing is a barrier.

- Retention characteristics of individually milled bar systems with customized patrices: An in vitro comparison of electroplated and friction-based retention concepts. [Journal Article]J Prosthodont. 2026 Sep 04. [Online ahead of print]JP
- CONCLUSIONS: Under the tested laboratory conditions, all IMB-CP systems showed initial retention forces above the 5 N reference threshold. After 5000 insertion-removal cycles, the titanium-titanium FPP combination exhibited the lowest retention and fell below this threshold, whereas the remaining systems maintained retention values above it. EP showed stable or slightly increased retention with minimal measured wear, whereas FPP showed greater, predictable wear-related retention loss. These exploratory observations demonstrate that material pairing plays an important role in retention behavior under in vitro conditions, whereas clinical performance, maintenance requirements, and long-term success should be evaluated in future clinical studies.

- Evaluating Golden and Recurring Esthetic Dental (RED) Proportions Using Two Methods in an Urban Tirupati Population. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: Neither the Golden Proportion nor the RED Proportion was consistently observed in the maxillary anterior dentition of the Tirupati urban population, indicating that these concepts should not be considered universal standards for smile esthetics. Photographic and direct measurements provide complementary information by representing perceived and actual tooth dimensions, respectively. Individualized smile design based on patient-specific anatomical characteristics and clinical judgment may be more appropriate than strict adherence to mathematical proportional theories.
