- A rare case of gastroenteritis due to salmonella enterica serovar Infantis in South India. [Case Reports]Front Public Health. 2026; 14:1874658.FP
- Salmonella enterica serovar Infantis is an emerging non-typhoidal Salmonella (NTS) serovar increasingly associated with foodborne gastroenteritis. Human infections caused by this serovar remain underreported in India. We report a case of acute gastroenteritis caused by Salmonella enterica serovar Infantis in a 53-year-old male from South India. The patient presented with acute-onset watery diarrh…

- [Translated article] Standardisation of ready-to-use intravenous antimicrobial preparation in a paediatric hospital-at-home unit. [Journal Article]Farm Hosp. 2026 Oct 01. [Online ahead of print]FH
- CONCLUSIONS: This study supports a more uniform and safer OPAT practice in paediatric HAH units and provides an operational basis for protocol implementation and future evaluation, combining stability evidence for compounded preparations with paediatric administration requirements.

- Clinical and microbiological characteristics of pediatric Pandoraea sputorum bloodstream isolates with exploratory genomic analysis of two selected strains. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: This study describes the clinical and microbiological characteristics of pediatric P. sputorum-positive blood cultures at a single center and provides exploratory genomic data for two selected isolates. The recurrent carbapenem-discordant phenotype warrants careful antimicrobial susceptibility interpretation, and comprehensive molecular typing and functional studies are needed to define its genomic basis.

- User Beware: Inaccuracy and Inconsistency of Large Language Models in Providing Precision Dosing Recommendations for Patients With Kidney Impairment-A Case Series. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: Freely available LLMs produce highly variable and often discordant antibiotic dosing recommendations for patients with AKI and receiving CKRT. Although valuable for hypothesis generation and literature retrieval, LLM outputs should not be used in isolation for drug dosing in critically ill patients with kidney dysfunction.

- Molecular Characterisation and Antimicrobial Resistance Patterns of Listeria monocytogenes From Dairy Sources. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: The results suggest that raw milk may be a significant reservoir of multi-drug-resistant L. monocytogenes in this region and the studied supply chain. Therefore, hygiene measures and continuous monitoring are key to preventing contamination and protecting public health.

- Association between Beta-Lactam concentration and Liver Injury in Critically Ill Patients. [Journal Article]Int J Antimicrob Agents. 2026 Sep 30; :108023. [Online ahead of print]IJ
- CONCLUSIONS: In this cohort of patients, no clear association was found between trough concentration of beta-lactams and the development of liver injury. The potential hepatoxicity of piperacillin warrants further investigation.

- Relative inhibitory activities of taniborbactam and xeruborbactam against KPC variants conferring reduced susceptibility or resistance to ceftazidime/avibactam, cefiderocol, and cefepime/taniborbactam. [Journal Article]Antimicrob Agents Chemother. 2026 Sep 30; :e0089726. [Online ahead of print]AA
- The emergence of KPC variants associated with ceftazidime/avibactam resistance may also compromise the activity of other recently developed β-lactams, including cefiderocol and cefepime/taniborbactam. Xeruborbactam is a boronic acid β-lactamase inhibitor with potent activity against serine- and metallo-β-lactamases and is currently under clinical development in combination with cefiderocol. We ev…

- Global Genomic Analysis Reveals Spatial Patterns and Temporal Trends of Priority-Antimicrobial Resistance in Salmonellaenterica Isolates from Aquatic Animals. [Journal Article]
- Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) in Salmonella enterica from aquatic animals represents an emerging food safety and public health concern, yet the global distribution patterns and trends remain insufficiently understood. Here, we performed a global genomic survey of Salmonella from aquatic animals using 2911 genomes collected from 67 countries across six continents between 1974 and 2025. These geno…

- ESBL-Producing Klebsiella pneumoniae Bacteraemia with Renal Micro-Abscesses Treated with Cefepime-Enmetazobactam in a Neutropenic Allogeneic Transplant Recipient. [Case Reports]
- Extended-spectrum β-lactamase (ESBL)-producing Klebsiella pneumoniae causes difficult-to-treat bloodstream infections in patients with haematological malignancies, particularly after allogeneic haematopoietic stem cell transplantation (allo-HSCT). Carbapenems remain reliable, but their anti-anaerobic activity may aggravate intestinal dysbiosis and increase selection pressure for carbapenem resist…

- Cefepime 2.0: Upgrading β-Lactamase Inhibitor Use. [Review]
- Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) in Gram-negative pathogens represents a critical global health challenge. Combining cefepime with novel β-lactamase inhibitors (enmetazobactam, taniborbactam, zidebactam, and nacubactam) revitalizes the role of this fourth-generation cephalosporin in contemporary therapy. We present a narrative review according to the Scale for the Assessment of Narrative Review Art…

- Increased Prevalence of Multidrug-Resistant Escherichia coli as an Adverse Effect of Excessive Antibiotic Use in a Tertiary Care Hospital in Serbia. [Journal Article]
- One of the most important adverse consequences of antibiotic use is the development of bacterial resistance. This study investigated the prevalence and antimicrobial resistance patterns of multidrug-resistant (MDR) Escherichia coli in a tertiary care hospital during 2013-2015 and 2024, together with trends in antibiotic consumption and the molecular characteristics of resistance genes in 2024 iso…

- Agent-Specific Clinical Profiles of Antibiotic-Associated Encephalopathy: A Dual-Database Pharmacovigilance Study Using JADER and FAERS. [Journal Article]
- Background/Objectives: Antibiotic-associated encephalopathy (AAE) is a serious adverse reaction whose presentation is thought to differ between antibiotics; whether these agent-specific profiles are consistently reflected in spontaneous reports across independent data sources is unknown. Methods: Using the Japanese Adverse Drug Event Report (JADER) database and the US FDA Adverse Event Reporting …

- Clinical, Microbiological and Genomic Characterization of OXA-48-Producing Klebsiella pneumoniae ST395 Circulating in a Secondary-Care Hospital in North-Eastern Italy, 2024-2025. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: We identified a multidrug-resistant OXA-48-producing K. pneumoniae ST395 lineage circulating locally, predominantly in colonization contexts. Active screening and genomic surveillance may support infection control and inform the potential role of emerging cefepime-based inhibitor combinations.

- Localized Multidrug-Resistant Morganella morganii Urinary Tract Infection in a Dapagliflozin-Treated Man with Bladder Outlet Obstruction and Incomplete Ureteral Duplication: A Case Report. [Case Reports]
- Background and Clinical Significance: Sodium-glucose cotransporter-2 (SGLT2) inhibitors cause persistent glucosuria, which has been hypothesized to facilitate urinary tract infection (UTI) when urinary stasis or anatomic variants coexist; causality, however, remains unproven and almost certainly multifactorial. Case Presentation: A 72-year-old man treated with dapagliflozin 10 mg/day for 4 months…
