  • Diagnostic delay and histopathological subtyping challenges in idiopathic multicentric Castleman disease, not otherwise specified: a case report of a three-hospital odyssey. [Case Reports]
    Front Med (Lausanne). 2026; 13:1829540.Zhang F, Wang N, … Teng WQFM
  • CONCLUSIONS: This case illustrates the diagnostic challenges of idiopathic multicentric Castleman disease-not otherwise specified (iMCD-NOS) and underscores the importance of excisional biopsy over core needle biopsy, systematic exclusion of differential diagnoses, and multidisciplinary collaboration. The patient's journey through three hospitals before diagnosis offers three key lessons for clinicians: (1) The possibility of Castleman disease should be considered when a triad of unexplained lymphadenopathy, systemic symptoms, and elevated inflammatory markers is present. (2) When multicentric lymphadenopathy coexists with systemic inflammation, excisional biopsy-rather than core needle biopsy-is essential for an accurate diagnosis. (3) Systematic exclusion of HHV-8 infection, TAFRO/IPL features, and other mimickers is mandatory for proper iMCD-NOS subtyping. Enhanced awareness of this disease, as provided by this report, may facilitate early recognition and reduce diagnostic delays.

  • There are several types of fungal sinusitis. The classification depends on the degree of invasion of the sinuses. The overarching categories are non-invasive and invasive fungal sinusitis. There are three subtypes of non-invasive fungal sinusitis (FS): Fungal ball (FB), saprophytic fungal sinusitis (SFS), and allergic fungal rhinosinusitis (AFRS). Similarly, there are three subtypes of invasive f…
  • CD25 expression marks an activated mast cell population in human nasal polyposis. [Journal Article]
J Allergy Clin Immunol. 2026 Aug; 158(2):443-452.Santos RU, Suber J, … Dwyer DFJA
  • CONCLUSIONS: Our data show that MCTCs in CRSwNP exhibit an activated transcriptional phenotype with expression of transcripts encoding proinflammatory mediators and IL2RA. Moreover, the CD25 upregulation on MCTCs in CRSwNP suggests its potential to serve as an in vivo marker of activated MCTCs during allergic disease.
  • Actinomycotic Cholecystitis and Pancreatitis: Report of an Unusual Case. [Case Reports]

  • BACKGROUND Actinomycosis is an uncommon bacterial infection caused by the commensal organism Actinomyces spp., which can become pathogenic upon tissue injury or disruption of the mucosal barrier. While primarily recognized for its cervicofacial and abdominopelvic presentations, actinomycosis can also involve the gallbladder and potentially the pancreas, posing diagnostic and therapeutic challenge…
  • Wall Shear Stress Predicts Venous Tissue Growth in Endovascular Neural Interfaces. [Journal Article]

  • CONCLUSIONS: This study provides new insights into venous neointimal hyperplasia, emphasizing the need to consider venous-specific responses in stent-electrode design and clinical applications. Nonetheless, potential risks such as thrombosis and inflammatory responses should be further investigated to fully understand the long-term viability of these devices.
  • An Unveiling of the Misdiagnosis of Granulomatosis with Polyangiitis as Acute Sinusitis: A Case Report. [Case Reports]
    Diagnostics (Basel). 2025 Sep 01; 15(17).Wang Q, Ling Y, … Xue JD
  • Background and Clinical Significance: Granulomatosis with polyangiitis (GPA), an immune-mediated systemic small-vessel vasculitis affecting the upper/lower respiratory tracts and kidneys, frequently presents with non-specific nasal symptoms that lead to misdiagnosis. Case Presentation: We report a case of a 55-year-old female with GPA complicated by Bartter syndrome. She presented with one month …

  • A 66-year-old male with a history of chronic epistaxis and sinusitis presented with a non-healing ulcer on the right nasolabial region persisting for 7 months. While denying additional symptoms, he admitted to recreational cocaine smoking. Examination revealed an ulcerated plaque with raised, pink-edged borders extending from the right nasal rim to the upper lip. A thorough diagnostic workup was …
