- Management Strategies for Helicobacter pylori-Application of the Stewardship Principles. [Review]Helicobacter. 2026; 31(5):e70158.H
- The management strategies for Helicobacter pylori treatment are still diverse, especially because of the unequal availability of the drugs needed. In addition, the development of resistance to some antibiotics leads to unsatisfactory results. The role of H. pylori in gastric cancer, which allows the possibility of prevention in the general population by eradicating the bacteria, is a stimulus to …

- Efficacy of Standard Triple Therapy With or Without Statin in Helicobacter pylori Eradication: A Randomized Double-Blind Placebo-Controlled Trial. [Randomized Controlled Trial]Helicobacter. 2026; 31(5):e70171.H
- CONCLUSIONS: Adjuvant therapy with atorvastatin combined with STT significantly improved H. pylori eradication rates without clinically significant adverse events. Further randomized controlled trials in diverse populations and with varying antibiotic resistance patterns are needed to better clarify the effects of statins on H. pylori treatment.

- Acid-Stable Nitrofuran Triple Therapy With Rabeprazole and Amoxicillin Targeting Helicobacter pylori Infection. [Journal Article]MedComm (2020). 2026 Oct; 7(10):e71057.M
- Helicobacter pylori is an emerging antibiotic-resistant and carcinogenic gastric pathogen. We developed nitrofuran derivatives with anti-H. pylori activity and found the analog CLI-19-009 (2-nitro-6,7-dihydrobenzofuran-4-one N-(cinnamoyl)hydrazone) inhibited H. pylori growth at 0.25 mg/L. Notably, CLI-19-009 contains a non-conjugated hydrazone side chain, which may influence nitroreductive activa…

- Efficacy of minocycline-containing bismuth quadruple therapy for Helicobacter pylori infection: a single-center retrospective study. [Journal Article]Expert Rev Clin Pharmacol. 2026 Oct 13. [Online ahead of print]ER
- CONCLUSIONS: MCQT achieve favorable Helicobacter pylori eradication rates in both treatment-naïve and treatment-experienced patients, and MAAB demonstrates a significantly higher eradication rate than ACAB.

- Evolution of Bacterial Yield and Antimicrobial Resistance in Chronic Rhinosinusitis Patients in a Dedicated Sinus Centre. [Journal Article]Clin Otolaryngol. 2026 Oct 12. [Online ahead of print]CO
- CONCLUSIONS: There has been an increase in the incidence of Gram-negative bacteria as well as antibiotic resistance in CRS sinonasal cultures. These findings emphasise the importance of endoscopically guided cultures and culture-directed antibiotic therapy when managing postoperative CRS exacerbations.

- Use of direct injection UHPLC-MS/MS for antibiotic population use assessment by wastewater analysis - application to laboratory and monitoring studies. [Journal Article]Anal Methods. 2026 Oct 12. [Online ahead of print]AM
- Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) is a global human health threat and wastewater analysis of antibiotics can help inform AMR policies. Accurate quantification of antibiotic use in urban populations is needed. This requires analytical methods capable of high sample throughput to support short-term laboratory antibiotic fate investigations where large sample numbers are generated, and sub-µg L[-1] qua…

- P-CAB - amoxicillin dual therapy for H. pylori eradication: a narrative review of efficacy, safety, and guideline positioning. [Review]Scand J Gastroenterol. 2026 Oct 10; :1-6. [Online ahead of print]SJ
- CONCLUSIONS: P-CAB-amoxicillin dual therapy is a promising, antibiotic-sparing candidate for H. pylori eradication, with efficacy comparable to BQT and a potentially lower adverse-event burden. Comparative evidence against concomitant therapy remains limited. Dedicated regional RCTs are needed before incorporation into national guidelines.

- Resistance of Helicobacter pylori to clarithromycin and levofloxacin in patients residing in the VI Region of Chile. [Journal Article]Diagn Microbiol Infect Dis. 2026 Oct 02; 117(1):117684. [Online ahead of print]DM
- CONCLUSIONS: Our results provide the first evidence of resistance to clarithromycin and levofloxacin in a rural area of Chile. The resistance levels observed compromise the use of both antibiotics as empirical therapy in this population. Furthermore, our method detects antibiotic resistance by molecular DNA-based methods using the same sample obtained for the rapid urease test, without requiring an additional biopsy for this purpose; this approach does not extend to phenotypic, culture-based susceptibility testing.

- A process-resolved risk prioritization framework reveals hidden antibiotic control deficiencies in wastewater treatment trains. [Journal Article]Water Res. 2026 Oct 04; 308(Pt C):127080. [Online ahead of print]WR
- Antibiotic prioritization in wastewater treatment plants (WWTPs) commonly relies on influent-effluent changes. Such assessments may mask differences among configurations, treatment contexts, and endpoint media. Here, we established a process-resolved antibiotic Environmental Health Prioritization index (PA-EHPi). At the configuration × antibiotic scale, PA-EHPi integrates effluent occurrence, app…

- Remote but not pristine anymore: pharmaceutical pollution challenges management of a high-elevation protected ecosystem. [Journal Article]Integr Environ Assess Manag. 2026 Oct 07. [Online ahead of print]IE
- Remote ecosystems are often assumed to be insulated from chemical contamination; however, increasing human visitation may compromise this perception. We evaluated the occurrence, spatial distribution, and ecological implications of pharmaceutical active compounds (PhACs) in soils from the summit of Roraima-tepui, a high-elevation "sky island" in the Guiana Shield subjected to unregulated tourism …

- Assessing the Influence of CYP3A4 Inhibitors on Voriconazole Exposure across CYP2C19 Genotypes: A Physiologically Based Pharmacokinetic Model Analysis. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: Overall, this analysis demonstrates the capacity of PBPK modeling to predict DDIs across different genotypes and dosing scenarios. Although the relative increase in steady-state VCZ exposure was predicted to be similar across genotypes, this analysis demonstrated that CYP2C19 intermediate and poor metabolizers are at elevated risk of VCZ toxicity in the presence of strong CYP3A4 inhibition.

- Prevalence and risk factors for failed newborn hearing screening among preterm infants: a prospective cohort study in Nairobi, Kenya. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: We report a prevalence of failed newborn hearing screening by AABR of 7.2% among preterm infants, substantially higher than the global baseline estimates for the general newborn population. Clarithromycin and birth asphyxia were the only factors associated with a failed hearing screening. These findings underscore the importance of implementing and strengthening UNHS programmes in Kenya and sub-Saharan Africa, with targeted follow-up of preterm and high-risk infants to enable early detection and intervention.

- Clinical Evaluation of a Stool-Based Molecular Point-of-Care Test Kit for Noninvasive Detection of Helicobacter pylori Infection and Clarithromycin Resistance. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: The Smart Gene™ stool kit offers a rapid, accurate, and noninvasive alternative for diagnosing H. pylori infection and CAM resistance. Its diagnostic performance is comparable to that of the gold-standard invasive methods while offering practical advantages for outpatient use, mass screening, and nonendoscopy-feasible populations. This approach increases early H. pylori detection and improves eradication outcomes and contributes to more effective gastric cancer prevention strategies (approval number: R4-0426001).
