- Fed-Fasted Differences in Clindamycin Hydrochloride Capsule Pharmacokinetics: A Pooled Analysis of Publicly Available China CDE Regulatory Summaries. [Journal Article]Clin Pharmacol Drug Dev. 2026 Oct; 15(10):e70105.CP
- We evaluated food-associated differences in clindamycin hydrochloride capsule exposure by pooling publicly available regulatory bioequivalence (BE) summaries from the Center for Drug Evaluation of the National Medical Products Administration in China. Fourteen candidate regulatory identifiers were reviewed; one 0.15-g BE-exempt record without analyzable pharmacokinetic (PK) data was excluded, lea…

- The emergence and dissemination of antimicrobial resistance through the food chain pose a significant threat to food safety and public health. Our nationwide surveillance of retail foods in China revealed alarmingly high resistance rates among foodborne Staphylococcus isolates, particularly to antibiotics targeting the 50S ribosomal subunit. Among these, Mammaliicoccus lentus (formerly Staphyloco…

- Making a case for dental clinical practice guidelines for elective antibiotic use: an institutional retrospective study. [Journal Article]Quintessence Int. 2026 Oct 08; 0(0):0. [Online ahead of print]QI
- CONCLUSIONS: Implant-related procedures more frequently involved nonindicated, broad-spectrum antibiotic use, highlighting the need for evidence-based guidelines to reduce antibiotic overuse. Clindamycin use can further be reduced with the justified use of alternative safer antibiotics and minimizing mislabeling of penicillin allergy. Clinical Practice Guidelines for antibiotic use following dental procedures can promote judicious antibiotic use.

- Lemierre Syndrome After Influenza A Virus Infection. [Case Reports]Cureus. 2026 Sep; 18(9):e115912.C
- Lemierre syndrome is a rare condition characterized by septic thrombophlebitis of the internal jugular vein with metastatic septic emboli, most commonly affecting the lungs. We report a case of Lemierre syndrome temporally associated with influenza A infection in a previously healthy 21-year-old male. The patient initially presented to the emergency department with severe headache and tested posi…

- Community-associated methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) is an emerging cause of skin and soft tissue infections in otherwise healthy pediatric populations. Empirical beta-lactam therapy failure may delay appropriate management, particularly in community-exposed individuals. An 11-year-old competitive swimmer presented with progressive lower lip swelling and purulent discharge unre…

- Clinical Outcomes in Toxoplasmic Retinochoroiditis: Comparing Intravitreal Clindamycin with and Without Adjunctive Steroids. [Journal Article]Ocul Immunol Inflamm. 2026 Oct 07; :1-6. [Online ahead of print]OI
- CONCLUSIONS: Patients with toxoplasmic retinochoroiditis treated with intravitreal clindamycin had significantly improved BCVA. The addition of intravitreal or oral steroids did not have a statistically significant difference on vision or complication rates in this small retrospective cohort. No cases of injection-related endophthalmitis or lens injury were observed, but the small sample size limits conclusions regarding safety.

- Odontogenic infections may progress to deep space infection with systemic complications and require prompt surgical drainage and, when indicated, systemic antibiotics. In patients with a documented penicillin allergy label, empiric therapy is often shifted toward clindamycin, although resistance is increasingly reported. This multicenter retrospective cohort study included 88 hospitalized patient…

- Severe Dermatologic Toxicity During Amivantamab-Lazertinib Treatment in Epidermal Growth Factor Receptor (EGFR)-Mutated Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer. [Case Reports]
- Amivantamab is an epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) and mesenchymal-epithelial transition (MET) antibody. Lazertinib is an EGFR tyrosine kinase inhibitor with central nervous system penetration. Used in combination, this targeted therapy is effective in treating non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). However, it has been associated with severe dermatologic adverse reactions. A 61-year-old woma…

- Secondary actinomycosis in a recurrent odontogenic keratocyst: A clinicopathological diagnostic challenge with 5-year follow-up. [Case Reports]
- OKC is an odontogenic developmental cyst with a significant risk of recurrence. Secondary infections of the lesion with Actinomyces organisms are rare and may pose a dilemma in managing the recurrent lesion. A 20-year-old male patient reported to the outpatient department with a radiolucent multilocular lesion of the posterior right side of the mandible. A diagnosis of OKC was made based on histo…

- Complete genome sequence data of Streptococcus pneumoniae serotype 17F isolated in Malaysia. [Journal Article]
- This study reports the genomic insights into a Streptococcus pneumoniae serotype 17F isolate in Malaysia (IMRCC/SS430/25), collected from an adult patient with aspiration pneumonia in 2025. Phenotypic identification revealed characteristic alpha-haemolytic colonies and optochin susceptibility. Species identity as S. pneumoniae was further verified by bile solubility testing and the 17F serotype w…

- CONCLUSIONS: Vaginal P. bivia isolates from South African women exhibited low genomic diversity, evidence of strain persistence and occasional co-colonisation with multiple P. bivia strains. Although resistance to standard bacterial vaginosis therapies remained low, the presence of mobile AMR determinants highlights the importance of continued genomic and phenotypic surveillance of vaginal P. bivia populations.

- We evaluated changes in population attributable risk of "4C" antibiotics for community-associated Clostridioides difficile infection in Ontario (2017-2024). Contributions from clindamycin, cephalosporins, and fluoroquinolones declined, whereas amoxicillin-clavulanate increased and became the leading contributor by 2022, highlighting a potential emerging target for outpatient antimicrobial steward…
