- Trends in Medical Student Publications in the Pass/Fail Licensing Examination Era. [Journal Article]South Med J. 2026 Oct 02; 119(10):632-636.SM
- CONCLUSIONS: Medical student publications have grown at a slow rate and with minimal changes in quality metrics. These results suggest that prioritizing quality over quantity of research activities during medical school remains a sound strategy for the research component of residency applications.

- Quality and Patient Safety Review Processes in Military Treatment Facilities and Operational Clinical Services. [Journal Article]Rand Health Q. 2026 Sep; 13(4):7.RH
- RAND researchers assessed the quality and patient safety review processes for care delivered in military treatment facilities (MTFs) and via operational clinical services (OCSs). MTFs are fixed or permanent medical facilities. OCSs are often provided in austere or operational environments that can be temporary, mobile, or permanent. OCS settings vary widely in their infrastructure and capabilitie…

- Recounting Workforce: The Impact of Multi-licensure on Behavioral Health Provider Estimates. [Journal Article]
- Accurate behavioral health workforce estimates are essential for workforce planning, shortage designation, and policy development. However, workforce reports often rely on license counts rather than unique providers, which can inflate workforce estimates when clinicians hold multiple licenses. This study examined the prevalence and geographic distribution of multi-licensure among Nevada behaviora…

- Cybersecurity Hygiene in Health Care: Practical Steps for Clinicians to Protect Themselves and Their Organizations. [Review]Mayo Clin Proc. 2026 Oct; 101(10):1837-1844.MC
- Cybersecurity has become a critical determinant of patient safety, business continuity, and organizational resilience in health care. Health care organizations are increasingly targeted by ransomware, data theft, and related attacks that disrupt clinical operations, threaten patient safety, delay care, and compromise sensitive information. Although often viewed as technical failures, many inciden…

- An updated evidence-informed framework for dental sedation: drugs, routes, patient selection, monitoring, and emergency preparedness. [Systematic Review]
- CONCLUSIONS: No single sedative drug or administration route is universally optimal for all dental patients. The available evidence supports individualized sedation selection based on patient characteristics, procedural requirements, intended sedation depth, clinician competence, and available monitoring and rescue resources. Nitrous oxide-oxygen and midazolam-based techniques remain well-supported options for appropriately selected patients, whereas advanced or deep sedation should be reserved for appropriately equipped settings with trained and credentialed personnel.

- Blockchain-Backed Revocation and Yang-Baxter Consistency Screening for Zero-Trust IoT Admission Control. [Journal Article]Sensors (Basel). 2026 Sep 20; 26(18).S
- IoT deployments handle credential hygiene reactively: cloned, replayed, or stale credentials are typically discovered only after misuse, and revocation state is often propagated through centralized lists whose integrity cannot be independently verified. This article introduces the Yang-Baxter IoT Consistency Gateway (YB-IoT-CG), a Zero-Trust admission-control framework that pushes an algebraic la…

- GPU-Accelerated WPA/WPA2 Credential Recovery as an Enabler for Non-Destructive Drone Neutralization. [Journal Article]Sensors (Basel). 2026 Sep 21; 26(18).S
- Drones have become a significant threat in both modern warfare and civilian environments, presenting unprecedented security challenges. While hard kill (physical destruction) defense methods exist to counter threat drones, they remain prohibitively expensive and often result in collateral damage. This study focuses on software-based peaceful neutralization as an anti-drone countermeasure, with pa…

- Anomaly-Based Intrusion Detection for IoT Microcontrollers Using Power Side-Channel Fingerprinting. [Journal Article]Sensors (Basel). 2026 Sep 11; 26(18).S
- This study introduces a unified evaluation framework for device-level intrusion detection using power side-channel fingerprints under an open-set threat model. We target post-enrollment device substitution: an adversary replaces a legitimate Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS) node with a counterfeit of the same model and firmware after enrollment, during deployment or maintenance, making the substit…

- Very Long Chain Fatty Acid Synthesis is a Targetable Dependency in RAS Pathway Mutant Leukemia. [Journal Article]Blood Cancer Discov. 2026 Sep 30. [Online ahead of print]BC
- Oncogenic RAS pathway mutations are associated with therapeutic resistance in acute myeloid leukemia, and identification of therapeutic vulnerabilities has been hindered by a lack of clinically relevant models and tractable ex vivo platforms. We utilize a bone marrow endothelial cell co-culture system to perform CRISPR screens on wild-type hematopoietic cells and isogenic leukemias with and witho…

- Investigating the Retention and Attrition of Emergency Care Advanced Clinical Practitioners in the United Kingdom: Mixed-Methods Research. [Journal Article]J Clin Nurs. 2026 Sep 30. [Online ahead of print]JC
- CONCLUSIONS: EC-ACP retention appears to be associated with potentially modifiable organisational conditions, particularly career development, organisational support and sustainable role design. Commitment to EC can coexist with uncertainty about remaining, suggesting that attrition should not be interpreted as a loss of professional commitment.

- Since the General Dental Council ceased registering additional qualifications awarded after December 2007, dentistry in the UK has lacked a formal, national mechanism for recognising practitioners whose capabilities sit between those of the general registrant and the specialist. While NHS commissioning frameworks describe this middle tier as Level 2 complexity care, its application has remained l…

- Cardiac point-of-care ultrasound may serve as a bedside screening tool for the early identification of left ventricular systolic dysfunction in children, but paediatric data remain limited in clinical practice. In a retrospective cohort study of children with multisystem inflammatory syndrome in children undergoing cardiac point-of-care ultrasound at presentation, qualitative assessments of left …

- Medical negligence adjudication in Malaysia: A retrospective analysis of law cases in 2025. [Journal Article]Med J Malaysia. 2026 Sep; 81(5):722-734.MJ
- CONCLUSIONS: The 2025 retrospective case law analysis indicates that the Malaysian medicolegal environment is evolving toward a standard of total accountability. The courts demand strict adherence to clinical best practices, respect for patient autonomy, robust institutional systems, and honest professional conduct. For healthcare professionals and institutions, mitigating legal risk now necessitates not just technical competence, but also absolute integrity in documentation and unwavering professional transparency.
