- Fatal pedestrian injury secondary to rupture of a right coronary artery aneurysm: A case report. [Case Reports]
- CONCLUSIONS: This case illustrates an extremely rare scenario where aneurysmal rupture likely preceded the traumatic event, leading to secondary blunt trauma. This emphasizes the critical importance of considering primary vascular emergencies as underlying causes in trauma patients who present with atypical findings.

- NUP-REPORT 1.0: A Proposed Reporting and Benchmarking Framework for Non-Upright Pedestrian Detection and Pre-Crash Safety Evaluation. [Journal Article]
- Pedestrian-detection research and pre-crash safety assessment predominantly represent upright pedestrians, although prone, supine, lateral, seated, crouched, kneeling, partially collapsed, and fall-transition states alter target geometry, visibility, sensor signatures, and intervention time. Cross-study comparison is further limited by inconsistent posture labels, data provenance, latency boundar…

- Emergency Nurses' Training, Experience, and Confidence With Obstetrical Emergencies: A Cross-Sectional Survey in Arkansas. [Journal Article]J Emerg Nurs. 2026 Sep 29. [Online ahead of print]JE
- CONCLUSIONS: This study demonstrates a need to better prepare emergency nurses in Arkansas to manage a range of obstetrical complications. Simulation-based education, which combines experiential learning with didactic instruction, may build the experience and confidence needed to manage obstetrical emergencies in areas with limited obstetrical care.

- Examining Adverse Childhood Experiences as a Risk Factor for Preventive Dental Care and Tooth Decay: National Survey of Children's Health 2022-2023. [Journal Article]J Public Health Dent. 2026 Sep 29. [Online ahead of print]JP
- CONCLUSIONS: These findings suggest that childhood adversity is associated with poorer oral health status, while preventive dental care utilization may be influenced by broader socioeconomic and contextual factors. Given the cross-sectional design and reliance on caregiver-reported measures, longitudinal studies are needed to clarify temporal relationships and better understand the pathways linking childhood adversity and oral health outcomes.

- Multiple outbreaks of norovirus caused by persistent transmission in a hospitality setting in Victoria, Australia, 2023. [Journal Article]Commun Dis Intell (2018). 2026 Sep 29; 50.CD
- This report describes unusually persistent transmission of norovirus in a hospitality setting in Victoria, Australia. In September 2023, the Victorian State Government Department of Health was notified of six gastroenteritis outbreaks associated with events held at a single function venue. Genomically identical norovirus genogroup II (GII) was detected from cases in five of the outbreaks. No stat…

- Bilateral Muscle Architecture Differences in a Rabbit Model of Unilateral Hindlimb Transtibial Amputation: A Pilot Study. [Journal Article]
- Residual muscles after amputation experience mechanical unloading, loss of distal tendon insertion, and reduced excursion, conditions known to cause muscle degeneration. However, the architecture of residual muscles following amputation remains largely unreported. In this pilot, exploratory study, five healthy, skeletally mature, male New Zealand white rabbits underwent unilateral hind-paw ankle …

- Evaluating the rehabilitative and assistive impact of the Agilik exoskeleton: a pre-post single-group study in children with cerebral palsy. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: This exploratory study demonstrates a clear assistive biomechanical benefit of Agilik, particularly at the knee and hip. Individual-level analyses suggest that some participants may experience clinically meaningful improvements following training; however, these observations are hypothesis-generating and cannot be interpreted as evidence of a rehabilitative effect. Larger randomised controlled studies are needed to determine whether repeated exposure to assisted gait translates into sustained functional gains.

- Clear aligner therapy among orthodontists in Turkey: practice patterns and comparison with previously reported Iranian findings. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: Among respondents, CAT was more widely integrated into orthodontic practice in Turkey, with broader self-reported clinical indications and more positive clinician perceptions than in Iran. Iranian orthodontists relied more on locally manufactured and in-office aligners.

- Gut microbiome maturation in early childhood interacts with host genetics to predict type 1 diabetes risk. [Journal Article]
- Prospective evidence linking early-life microbiome development and host genetics with type 1 diabetes (T1D) risk is limited. Here, we describe how gut microbiome maturation and host genetics influence T1D risk in the TEDDY study. We analysed 12,151 longitudinal metagenomes and host genetic data from 887 children at high genetic risk for T1D followed for up to 6 years. We identify three microbiome…

- Peri-operative glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonist use and outcomes: a national prospective multicentre cohort study. [Journal Article]Anaesthesia. 2026 Sep 16. [Online ahead of print]A
- CONCLUSIONS: In this national study, 1 in 36 patients undergoing anaesthesia care received GLP-1 RAs, and their peri-operative management was variable. A range of airway management techniques aiming to reduce pulmonary aspiration risk were observed but, despite this, the incidence of pulmonary aspiration and/or regurgitation was 1 in 71 in people receiving GLP-1 RAs.

- Clinical Outcomes of Arthroscopic Annular Release Around the Greater Trochanter in Severe Gluteal Muscle Contracture Cases: A Technical Note and Case Series. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: Arthroscopic annular release around the greater trochanter showed adequate contracture band exposure and favorable clinical outcomes in this retrospective case series. It may be a feasible minimally invasive option for severe gluteal muscle contracture.

- Dynamic vibration-driven feedback shapes predator-prey interactions in an orb-weaving spider. [Journal Article]
- Animals flexibly adjust their movements in real time to capture prey using environmental sensory cues. While sensorimotor transformations have been extensively studied in visual and somatosensory systems, their structure remains poorly understood in substrate-borne vibration sensing. Here, we combined high-resolution web vibration recordings, capable of resolving micrometer-scale displacements, w…

- Severe Phenotype in an Indian Family With Progressive Pseudorheumatoid Arthropathy of Childhood. [Case Reports]Am J Med Genet A. 2026 Sep 11. [Online ahead of print]AJ
- Progressive pseudorheumatoid arthropathy of childhood (PPAC) is a rare autosomal recessive progressive condition that affects the cartilage of joints and bones. The symptoms of PPAC include stiffness of the joints, bony swelling of the toes and fingers, short stature, kyphosis, and muscle weakness. The radiologic manifestations are often mistaken for juvenile rheumatoid arthritis and include plat…
