- Cytomorphologic Features of Hepatic PEComa Diagnosed by Fine-Needle Aspiration Biopsy. [Journal Article]Cytopathology. 2026 Oct 14. [Online ahead of print]C
- Perivascular epithelioid cell tumours (PEComas) are rare mesenchymal neoplasms with characteristic myomelanocytic differentiation and limited descriptions in fine-needle aspiration (FNA) specimens. A woman in her 30s with a history of ALK-positive anaplastic large cell lymphoma in remission was found to have a 2.1-cm hepatic mass during evaluation of persistent liver function abnormalities. Ultra…

- Electronic, mechanical, thermodynamic and vibrational properties of Cu-modified NiTi alloys: a first-principles study. [Journal Article]Phys Chem Chem Phys. 2026 Oct 14. [Online ahead of print]PC
- Shape memory alloys (SMAs), known for their ability to return to their original shape after deformation, are highly sensitive to the alloying composition, which can significantly alter their transformation behavior and functional properties. In this study, we examined the influence of nickel substitution with copper on the structural, mechanical, thermodynamic, electronic, and vibrational propert…

- Cluster defect ZnK + SiP in KH2PO4 crystals: effects on electronic structure and optical properties. [Journal Article]Phys Chem Chem Phys. 2026 Oct 14. [Online ahead of print]PC
- First-principles calculations were implemented to explore the performance evolution of paraelectric (PE) and ferroelectric (FE) KH2PO4 (KDP) crystals induced by the cluster defect ZnK + SiP. The Freysoldt-Neugebauer-Vande Walle (FNV) finite-size correction was employed to calculate accurate defect formation energies (DFEs). This study systematically investigates the lattice configurations, electr…

- Long-Term Impact of Timing on Spinal Implantation for Lumbar Fractures in Polytrauma Patients: A Systematic Review. [Systematic Review]J Long Term Eff Med Implants. 2026; 36(2):67-76.JL
- The timing of osteosynthesis in polytrauma patients with lumbar spine fractures may influence key clinical outcomes, including hospital length of stay (HLOS), ICU length of stay (ICULOS), and mechanical ventilation duration (VENT DAYS). This systematic review aimed to evaluate how surgical timing affects these outcomes. A systematic review was conducted in accordance with PRISMA 2020 guidelines. …

- Operational envelopes for designing with soft actuators using a simplified continuum approach. [Journal Article]Soft Matter. 2026 Oct 14. [Online ahead of print]SM
- Liquid crystalline elastomers (LCEs) are soft materials capable of large, reversible deformations in response to external stimuli, making them promising alternatives to rigid actuators where compliance and untethered motion are crucial. However, adoption of LCEs in real-world systems has been hindered by the lack of practical modeling techniques that describe their functional behavior. Here, we p…

- Management of Exposure Keratopathy Associated with Crouzon Syndrome. [Case Reports]Nepal J Ophthalmol. 2026 Jan; 18(35):117-122.NJ
- CONCLUSIONS: This case highlights the importance of timely surgical intervention in improving ocular surface integrity and visual outcomes in patients with Crouzon syndrome complicated by exposure keratopathy. To the best of authors' knowledge, this is the first documented case of orbital decompression for Crouzon syndrome reported from Nepal.

- Post-treatment risks of transcatheter aortic valve implantation: should we be increasing preventative measures? [Review]Expert Rev Cardiovasc Ther. 2026 Oct 13. [Online ahead of print]ER
- Transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI) has become an established treatment for severe aortic stenosis across an expanding risk spectrum. As indications extend to younger and lower-risk patients, post-treatment complications with implications for survival, quality of life, and valve durability require attention.

- Simulation-based evaluation of stretching behavior of NiTi wire-knitted implants for reconstructive plastic surgery. [Journal Article]Comput Methods Biomech Biomed Engin. 2026 Oct 13; :1-15. [Online ahead of print]CM
- A comprehensive study of the mechanical response of a titanium nickelide (TiNi) wire-knitted implant was conducted through tensile testing and finite element simulation using the Bergström-Boyce hyperelastic model calibrated via MCalibration and solved in ANSYS. The elongation-load curves for both the ribbon tissue scaffold (RTS) and the composite samples consisting of a RTS with biological tissu…

- Physical Activity Levels and Lung-Kidney Function in a Cohort of COVID-19 Survivors. [Journal Article]Med Sci Sports Exerc. 2026 Nov 01; 58(11):2375-2383.MS
- CONCLUSIONS: Among survivors of COVID-19 hospitalization, being physically active was associated with better lung function outcomes, but not kidney or composite outcomes. This association was modified by age and baseline clinical status and followed a non-linear dose-response pattern.

- Chorioretinal Scars in Congenital Cytomegalovirus Infection Following Prenatal Valacyclovir Therapy. [Journal Article]Pediatr Infect Dis J. 2026 Oct 14. [Online ahead of print]PI
- CONCLUSIONS: Macular chorioretinal scarring was present in both infants despite otherwise limited clinical findings, and the extent of cranial imaging abnormality did not correspond to ocular involvement. Ophthalmologic examination determined disease classification and management. These observations do not permit conclusions regarding the effect of prenatal valacyclovir on ocular outcome.

- Longitudinal changes in PCOS-related reproductive and metabolic markers in female patients with bipolar disorder: a six-month observational study. [Journal Article]BMC Psychiatry. 2026 Aug 26; 26(1).BP
- CONCLUSIONS: In this exploratory six-month longitudinal observational study, early-stage female BD patients with relatively mild symptoms did not show a statistically significant increase in PCOS incidence when untreated. VPA treatment was associated with significant increases in oligomenorrhea/amenorrhea, AMH, and FAI, suggesting changes in PCOS-related reproductive markers. These findings support careful reproductive and metabolic monitoring when VPA is prescribed to women with BD, while larger and longer-term studies are needed to clarify the long-term clinical trajectory of these reproductive marker changes.

- QRX003 is an investigational topical lotion under clinical evaluation for Netherton syndrome (NS) and other genodermatoses. Netherton syndrome is a severe genetic ichthyosis caused by a deficiency of LEKTI, a serine protease inhibitor crucial for kallikrein regulation. Hyperactive kallikreins drive premature corneodesmosome cleavage and accelerated desquamation, causing impaired skin barrier inte…
