- A multimodal artificial intelligence framework for digital forensics. [Journal Article]J Forensic Sci. 2026 Oct 07. [Online ahead of print]JF
- Digital forensics plays a key role in investigating different types of crimes. It involves analyzing evidence from electronic devices, social media, and system logs. However, investigators face major challenges due to the large size of digital data. Information from networks, smartphones, and online platforms is often too complex to analyze within a limited time. The large size of digital evidenc…

- Development of a convenient HPLC-UV screening method for six antibiotic residues in chicken meat samples: model-driven gradient optimization and sorbent-free extraction with SALLME preconcentration. [Journal Article]Anal Methods. 2026 Oct 07. [Online ahead of print]AM
- The presence of antibiotic residues in poultry meat poses a growing risk of non-compliance with maximum residue limits under international food safety regulations. However, existing screening methods to detect antibiotic overuse rely mainly on LC-MS with dispersive solid-phase extraction (dSPE) clean-up using instrumentation and sorbents that are economically inaccessible to many food-safety labo…

- Predictive Modeling and Bioinspired Strategies for Stabilizing Hydrophilic Perovskite Quantum Dots in Multiplexed Biomedical Diagnostics. [Review]Luminescence. 2026 Oct; 41(10):e70639.L
- Hydrophilic perovskite quantum dots (PQDs) have emerged as promising materials for biomedical diagnostics due to their exceptional optical tunability and high photoluminescence quantum yield. However, their instability, toxicity, and degradation in aqueous and biological environments remain critical barriers to practical applications. This review integrates predictive modeling and bioinspired sta…

- Unipolar gate field enhanced photoresponse in organic layered halide perovskites. [Journal Article]Nanoscale. 2026 Oct 07. [Online ahead of print]N
- Layered organic halide perovskites exhibit better chemical and structural stability than its bulk counterparts. Strong exciton binding also promotes excellent light-matter interaction with the possibility to tune the emission position using halide atom interchange. Despite excellent physical properties, the reported light sensitivity is lower than those of other material systems, largely ascribed…

- Sudden unexpected death in epilepsy: An Italian expert consensus statement on risk, mechanisms, prevention, and therapeutic strategies. [Journal Article]Epilepsia Open. 2026 Oct 07. [Online ahead of print]EO
- CONCLUSIONS: This consensus provides the first formalized Italian multidisciplinary position on SUDEP, offering an evidence-informed and mechanism-aware framework intended to support more consistent risk communication, individualized risk stratification, and preventive care in clinical practice.Sudden unexpected death in epilepsy (SUDEP) is uncommon but is more likely in people with frequent tonic-clonic seizures and some severe epilepsy syndromes. An Italian multidisciplinary expert panel developed consensus statements on SUDEP risk, possible mechanisms, monitoring, and prevention. Reducing convulsive seizures and supporting treatment adherence remain the main preventive priorities; SUDEP information should be offered broadly, while counseling and additional measures should be tailored to individual risk. These statements reflect expert agreement and available evidence and are not formal clinical practice guidelines.

- [Long-Term Functional and Radiological Outcomes of Maverick]. [Journal Article]Acta Chir Orthop Traumatol Cech. 2026 Aug; 93(4):211-218.AC
- CONCLUSIONS: The long-term outcomes were poorer than the short-term ones, but satisfactory. A decrease in the range of motion and an increase in ODI and VAS scores were observed due to ongoing degenerative changes of the posterior segment. The heterotopic calcifications were common but were not associated with the revision surgery.

- Hybrid metal halides (HMHs) have emerged as promising functional materials owing to their versatile structural tunability and outstanding optoelectronic properties. In particular, chiral HMHs could be endowed with fascinating chiroptoelectronic properties such as circularly polarized light emission, circularly polarized photodetection, and spin regulation. However, the implementation of their pra…

- Electrocaloric (EC) refrigeration uses dielectric capacitors that are naturally efficient and have no direct carbon emissions. The idea that electrical capacitors can serve as working bodies in a refrigeration cycle implies that electricity can be directly harnessed, potentially enabling the development of miniature and portable refrigerators, and has therefore attracted considerable attention fr…

- [Risk of Failure of Two Methods of Osteosynthesis of Fifth Metacarpal Neck Fracture]. [Journal Article]Acta Chir Orthop Traumatol Cech. 2026 Aug; 93(4):241-246.AC
- CONCLUSIONS: Appropriate non-surgical treatment is essential for successful management of boxer's fractures. Physicians who treat musculoskeletal traumas should be adequately trained in this field. Where adequate non-surgical treatment is provided, only a small percentage of fractures require surgery. There are many surgical treatment options available; currently, none can be clearly recommended over the others. When comparing plate osteosynthesis and the "bouquet" technique, the authors' experience confirmed the well-known fact that displacement of fragments in the postoperative period can be prevented by adhering to all principles of good surgical practice for each treatment method.

- The superconducting diode effect (SDE), characterized by nonreciprocal critical supercurrents, plays a key role for next-generation dissipationless electronics. Typically, the SDE requires external magnetic fields to break time-reversal symmetry, limiting its practical applications. Superconductor/ferromagnet heterostructures offer an alternative way to enable field-free nonreciprocal transport b…
