- Transformer-Based Modeling of Directed Transfer Entropy Connectivity for EEG-Based ADHD Classification in Children. [Journal Article]Sensors (Basel). 2026 Sep 11; 26(18).S
- Electroencephalography (EEG) provides a non-invasive and cost-effective tool for supporting the assessment of attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). However, the nonstationary nature of EEG produces substantial variability among signal windows recorded from the same participant, which can obscure diagnostic structure and lead to inconsistent predictions. To address this problem, we prop…

- One Size Does not Fit All: Gamified Escape Room Learning for Students With ADHD and Language Difficulties in a Quasi-Experimental Cohort Study. [Journal Article]Nurs Open. 2026 Oct; 13(10):e70882.NO
- CONCLUSIONS: The findings suggest that gamified escape room instruction may have differential effects on academic performance across learner groups. Students with learning difficulties/ADHD demonstrated better performance on recognition-based tasks, whereas students with language difficulties may face challenges, particularly on tasks requiring written responses. In the context of nursing education, it is crucial to assess and adapt gamified teaching strategies to meet different learning needs rather than relying on a uniform approach. Nursing educators are encouraged to consider combining gamified learning with other teaching and assessment methods to promote inclusive and student-centered learning environments. When implementing gamified techniques, it is essential in nursing practice to tailor educational approaches to the varied learning needs of nursing students, particularly those with ADHD and other learning challenges. Multicenter research is needed to confirm these findings.

- Exploring the role of binge eating symptoms in the association between ADHD and BMI: a twin study. [Journal Article]Psychol Med. 2026 Sep 30; 56:e308.PM
- CONCLUSIONS: This twin study reveals shared liability across ADHD, binge eating symptoms, and BMI. The mediating role of binge eating symptoms in the relationship between ADHD symptoms and BMI was largely confounded by shared genetic influences. Intervention strategies could focus more on common underlying behavioral and self-regulatory mechanisms across these traits, as well as placing more emphasis on symptom patterns within families.

- Defining a minimal clinically important difference for the Vanderbilt ADHD Parent Rating Scale in children with Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder. [Multicenter Study]
- CONCLUSIONS: This study estimated MCID values for the Chinese VAFPRS in children and adolescents with ADHD. Anchor-based median estimates derived from the minimally improved CGI-I group were - 8 for the total score, - 5 for core symptoms, - 2 for inattention, and - 3 for hyperactivity/impulsivity. ROC-derived thresholds were lower and may provide complementary classification cutoffs for identifying improvement status.

- Trends in the Dispensing of Adult ADHD Medications. [Journal Article]Ir Med J. 2026 Sep 28; 119(8):157.IM
- To examine patterns of stimulant ADHD medications to adults in Ireland between 2015 and 2024, under community drug schemes. We aimed to describe changes over time across age groups, demographic characteristics, and geographic areas.
- Orbitofrontal and Medial Frontal Gray Matter Volumes Are Associated With Hyperactivity Traits in 2548 Nonclinical Adults. [Journal Article]
- Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) traits vary continuously across the general population, yet whether the frontal structural correlates established in clinical ADHD extend to trait variation in nonclinical adults is unknown. Based on meta-analytic evidence, we hypothesized that orbitofrontal gray matter volumes would be negatively associated with hyperactivity traits in 2548 nonclin…

- Major adverse cardiac events and mortality associated with ADHD and its treatment in adults with type 2 diabetes: a multi-national cohort study. [Multicenter Study]
- CONCLUSIONS: Adults with T2D and co-occurring ADHD were found to have increased risk of all-cause mortality after T2D diagnosis, while ADHD was not consistently associated with MACE across countries. ADHD medication use was linked to higher rate of MACE in adults with early-onset T2D. These findings suggest the potential need for integrated somatic-psychiatric care and careful consideration of ADHD medication use that may help reduce MACE and mortality, particularly in younger-onset T2D.

- Dual Effects of ADHD Pharmacotherapy on Nutrition: A Scoping Review of Appetite, Eating Behavior, and Growth Across the Lifespan. [Journal Article]
- Background: Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is associated with alterations in eating behavior, dietary patterns, and body weight regulation. Although pharmacological treatment is known to suppress appetite, its broader effects on nutrition-related outcomes remain unclear. This scoping review aimed to map the available evidence on dietary intake, eating behavior, nutritional status…

- High Ultra-Processed Food Consumption but No Association with Quality of Life in Saudi Children and Adolescents with ADHD. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: Children and adolescents with ADHD demonstrated high consumption of UPF and significantly lower QoL scores than healthy norms. No significant association was observed between UPF intake and QoL scores. Further studies are needed to better understand the factors influencing dietary quality and QoL among children and adolescents with ADHD.

- Functional Impairments and Adverse Outcomes Associated with ADHD: A Literature Review. [Review]
- Background and Objectives: Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is increasingly recognized as a lifespan neurodevelopmental condition with far-reaching consequences for functioning and health that extend well beyond its core signs and symptoms. This narrative review synthesizes evidence on the real-world impact of ADHD across the lifespan, with a focus on academic and occupational outc…

- Feasibility of an Emergency Department-Based Two-Step ADHD Screening Pathway in Primary School-Age Children Presenting with Home Accidents: A Prospective Two-Center Case-Control Study. [Journal Article]
- Background/Objectives: Emergency department (ED) visits for pediatric home accidents may provide an opportunity to identify children who warrant evaluation for attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). This study primarily evaluated the feasibility of a two-step ED-based ADHD screening and Child and Adolescent Psychiatry referral pathway. A secondary exploratory objective was to compare th…

- How do the measurement properties of the broad-band scales for attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder in children perform based on the COSMIN guidelines? [Systematic Review]
- CONCLUSIONS: Among the included broad-band instruments, given the evidence of insufficient cross-cultural validity, applying the COSMIN criteria to the CBCL Attention Problems subscale would lead to a recommendation against its use; users outside North America should be cautious. The SDQ Hyperactivity-Inattention subscale demonstrates comparatively favorable measurement properties, though this does not establish its overall superiority for ADHD assessment. Future studies should evaluate content validity, measurement error, and responsiveness following COSMIN guidelines.

- Reaction Time Variability and Electrophysiological Indices of Performance Monitoring in Youths With Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder and Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder. [Journal Article]
- Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) are common psychiatric disorders that may be differentiated by neurocognitive measures and electrocortical indices of performance monitoring. Increased reaction time variability (RTV) is a consistent finding in studies of ADHD. The error-related negativity (ERN) and error positivity (Pe) are components of the …
