- Associations of Cumulative Noise Exposure with Blood Pressure, Heart Rate, and Stress Hormones in Female Workers. [Journal Article]Noise Health. 2026 Sep-Oct 01; 28(134):1316-1327.NH
- CONCLUSIONS: Occupational noise exposure was independently associated with elevated blood pressure and reduced HR among female workers. However, no statistically significant mediating effects of the six stress hormones were identified in the associations between occupational noise exposure and blood pressure or HR.

- Neurophysiological Mechanisms Underlying the Anticonvulsant Potential of Sarcococca saligna (D.Don) Müll.Arg. in Experimental Epilepsy. [Journal Article]Neurochem Res. 2026 Nov 03; 51(6).NR
- Sarcococca saligna (S. saligna), a medicinal plant, has traditionally been used due to its beneficial effects on the nervous system. This study evaluated the anticonvulsant efficacy of S. saligna methanolic extract (SSME) against pentylenetetrazol induced seizures (60 mg/kg) in Wistar rats. Sodium valproate (300 mg/kg, administered orally) served as the reference drug. Rats received SSME at doses…

- Filamin-A links transcriptional disruption to dopaminergic decline in progressive supranuclear palsy. [Journal Article]Brain. 2026 Oct 19. [Online ahead of print]B
- Progressive supranuclear palsy is a late-onset neurodegenerative disorder characterized by tau aggregation and prominent dopaminergic dysfunction, yet the upstream molecular processes linking transcriptional abnormalities to dopaminergic failure remain poorly understood. To explore these mechanisms, we performed an integrated multi-omics analysis using a mouse model with overexpression of human f…

- Striatal dopamine transporter binding in adults with 22q11.2 copy number variants: a SPECT study. [Journal Article]Brain Commun. 2026; 8(6):fcag395.BC
- Copy number variants at the 22q11.2 chromosomal locus, hemizygous 22q11.2 deletions or duplications, are associated with a broad spectrum of neuropsychiatric and other medical conditions. Individuals with a 22q11.2 deletion are at increased risk for developing early-onset Parkinson's disease. The catechol-O-methyltransferase gene at 22q11.2 is involved in dopamine metabolism. While previous studi…

- Neurobiological basis of suicidal behavior: a narrative review of cerebrospinal fluid monoamine metabolites. [Review]Front Psychiatry. 2026; 17:1968256.FP
- CONCLUSIONS: Evidence supports the relevance of CSF monoamine metabolites, particularly 5-HIAA and, to a lesser extent, HVA, as biological correlates of suicidal behavior. However, heterogeneity across psychiatric diagnoses, small sample sizes, differences in CSF collection and analytical procedures, and predominantly cross-sectional study designs limit the generalizability and clinical translation of these findings. The invasive nature of lumbar puncture makes CSF biomarkers unsuitable for routine suicide-risk screening currently. Further longitudinal research is needed to determine whether their integration with clinical and peripheral biological measures could contribute to objective risk stratification and more personalized suicide prevention strategies.

- Effects of eating behavior patterns and dietary habits on the therapeutic efficacy of Parkinson's disease medications: from phenomena, mechanisms to clinical applications. [Review]Front Nutr. 2026; 13:1969279.FN
- Parkinson's disease (PD) is a common progressive neurodegenerative disorder managed primarily through pharmacological dopamine replacement therapies-including levodopa (L-DOPA), dopamine receptor agonists, MAO-B inhibitors, COMT inhibitors, and novel non-dopaminergic agents like adenosine A2A receptor antagonists. However, long-term pharmacotherapy faces major challenges such as motor fluctuation…

- Tyrosine Hydroxylase Deficiency: From Clinical and Therapeutic Features to Pathogenetic Considerations. [Review]Juntendo Med J. 2026; 72(5):443-455.JM
- Tyrosine hydroxylase (TH) deficiency is a rare metabolic disorder caused by biallelic pathogenic variants in the TH gene (TH). More than 95% of TH variants can be detected by usual sequence analyses and gene-targeted deletion/duplication analyses are necessary to identify gross abnormalities (e.g., exon deletions). The enzyme TH, a tetrahydrobiopterin (BH4)-dependent monooxygenase, catalyzes the …

- Tumor expression of dopamine receptor and prolactin is associated with acute dopamine agonist response in acromegaly. [Journal Article]Front Endocrinol (Lausanne). 2026; 17:1930467.FE
- CONCLUSIONS: Dopamine receptor D2 and prolactin expression are markers for dopamine agonist test response, providing valuable insights for personalized management and optimization of medical therapy in patients with acromegaly. Although prolactin and estrogen receptor α expression may be associated with tumor growth, the clinical applicability remains unclear.

- Dopaminergic System: A Potential Therapeutic Target for Alzheimer's and Parkinson's Diseases. [Journal Article]CNS Neurol Disord Drug Targets. 2026 Oct 22. [Online ahead of print]CN
- Dopamine is a critical neurotransmitter involved in the regulation of motor control, cognition, reward processing, motivation, and neuroendocrine functions. Increasing evidence indicates that disturbances in dopaminergic neurotransmission contribute significantly to the pathogenesis of major neurodegenerative disorders, particularly Parkinson's Disease (PD) and Alzheimer's Disease (AD). The dopam…

- Over the past five decades, strategies for dopaminergic therapy in Parkinson's disease (PD) have evolved significantly. Historically treatments aimed to reduce parkinsonism symptoms. Later, the focus shifted to preventing motor fluctuations and dyskinesias, leading clinicians to delay levodopa initiation. As knowledge of the mechanisms underlying motor complications, the clinical relevance of non…

Early diagnosis remains challenging because of clinical heterogeneity and symptom overlap with Parkinson's disease and other atypical parkinsonian syndromes. This systematic review synthesizes current evidence on molecular biomarkers of MSA in biological fluids, including cerebrospinal fluid and blood plasma,…
