- Subclinical intestinal inflammation in psoriasis: a cross-sectional comparative study using fecal calprotectin. [Journal Article]Cutan Ocul Toxicol. 2026 Oct 05; :1-8. [Online ahead of print]CO
- CONCLUSIONS: In this small, selected cohort of adults with predominantly mild cutaneous psoriasis and without known gastrointestinal disease or psoriatic arthritis, no statistically significant FC- or GSRS-based difference was detected between psoriasis patients and controls. Larger prospective studies are needed.

- Jane is a 7-year-old girl who presented for a developmental-behavioral pediatrics (DBP) evaluation because of parental concern about developmental delays and atypical behavior. Jane is a former term infant who was small for gestational age. She experienced some initial feeding difficulties and was discharged home from the nursery at 5 days of age. As a toddler, Jane was mildly delayed in acquirin…

- Automated quantification of central corneal epithelial thickness for the diagnosis of limbal stem cell deficiency. [Journal Article]PLoS One. 2026; 21(10):e0358258.Plos
- Limbal Stem Cell Deficiency (LSCD) is a corneal disorder characterized by conjunctivalization of the cornea. Central corneal epithelial thickness, measured using Anterior Segment Optical Coherence Tomography (AS-OCT), is a biomarker for LSCD. Manual measurement of epithelial thickness remains the gold standard for diagnosis because existing automated commercial software is unreliable in severe ca…

- Dynamic Morphological Changes of Focal Choroidal Excavations in Bilateral Choroidal Osteoma. [Journal Article]Retin Cases Brief Rep. 2026 Oct 05. [Online ahead of print]RC
- CONCLUSIONS: The findings suggest that these excavations in choroidal osteoma may result from localized structural remodeling and focal decalcification, potentially serving as imaging biomarkers of tumor weakening. The bilateral, dynamic nature of FCEs, even in areas without clear decalcification, suggests that biomechanical or vascular factors may contribute.

- Explainable Transformer-Based Retinal Disease Classification. [Journal Article]IEEE J Biomed Health Inform. 2026 Oct 05; PP. [Online ahead of print]IJ
- Retinal diseases are a leading cause of visual impairment globally. Early detection is crucial for effective management, and recent advances in ocular imaging and deep learning have facilitated the development of automated diagnostic systems. Traditional deep learning methods often struggle to effectively capture the overall structural context of the retina and the subtle, localised pathological …

- PEG-grafted dopamine methacrylate-functionalized hydroxyl-terminated PDMS-based silicone hydrogel contact lenses for sustained ocular drug delivery. [Journal Article]J Biomater Sci Polym Ed. 2026 Oct 05; :1-14. [Online ahead of print]JB
- Ocular drug delivery systems characterized by extended retention time and high bioavailability are urgently required to overcome the limitations of conventional eye drops. In this study, a novel drug-loaded silicone hydrogel contact lens (SHCL) was developed utilizing hydroxyl-terminated polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS-OH) as the silicone matrix, poly(ethylene glycol)-grafted methacryloyldopamine (PEG…

- Personalization and attentional bias in problematic short-video use. [Journal Article]J Behav Addict. 2026 Oct 05. [Online ahead of print]JB
- CONCLUSIONS: These findings suggest that individuals with higher problematic short-video use exhibit less differentiated attentional responses to personalized versus non-personalized short-video cues, with attentional bias generalizing beyond personally tailored cues. This pattern highlights attentional selectivity as a potential cognitive process linking personalization and problematic short-video engagement.

- Early Intraocular Pressure Changes After Laparoscopic Sleeve Gastrectomy: A Prospective Comparative Study. [Journal Article]Obes Surg. 2026 Oct 05. [Online ahead of print]OS
- CONCLUSIONS: Laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy was associated with a significant short-term reduction in intraocular pressure in obese patients, and greater BMI reduction was associated with greater IOP reduction. Postoperative improvement in hypertension may also be associated with a greater decrease in IOP; however, this finding should be interpreted cautiously because the subgroup observations were exploratory. Larger prospective controlled studies are needed to clarify the independent contributions of weight loss, metabolic improvement, and surgery-related factors.

- Early Real-World Outcomes of Intravitreal Aflibercept 8 mg for Neovascular Age-Related Macular Degeneration in France: A Retrospective Study. [Journal Article]Ophthalmol Ther. 2026 Oct 05. [Online ahead of print]OT
- CONCLUSIONS: Early real-world use of aflibercept 8 mg was associated with improved anatomical outcomes and extended treatment intervals in treatment-naïve and previously treated nAMD eyes, while maintaining stable BCVA and a favorable safety profile. These findings support its potential to reduce treatment burden in routine clinical practice.

- Prevalence, Associations, and Visual Impact of Myopic Macular Degeneration in a Multi-ethnic Older Population in Singapore: The PIONEER Study. [Journal Article]Ophthalmol Ther. 2026 Oct 05. [Online ahead of print]OT
- CONCLUSIONS: MMD poses a substantial public health burden among older Singaporeans, presenting as a near-inevitable complication in older high myopes that drives significant visual impairment in distance acuity and contrast sensitivity. The strong structural and age associations, alongside the absence of a dietary association, highlight the need for primary prevention and structural monitoring in high-risk myopic populations.

- CONCLUSIONS: KL-GEFE supplementation was associated with week 12 between-group differences in Schirmer I test values and adapted ESQ total scores, whereas no statistically significant week 12 between-group differences were observed for the other efficacy outcomes. Given the absence of a prospectively defined outcome hierarchy and multiplicity-control framework, these findings should be considered exploratory and require confirmation in prospectively designed trials.

- CONCLUSIONS: Nightly 0.02% and 0.04% atropine reduced axial elongation and myopia progression over 12 months compared with placebo. The trial was not designed or powered to establish equivalence between the active doses; within this sample, no statistically significant difference was detected between them.

- Beyond the moving hand: How gesture meaning shapes visual attention during observation and imitation. [Journal Article]Psychol Res. 2026 Oct 05; 90(5).PR
- Gestures can convey communicative and socially relevant information, but it remains unclear whether their spatial direction relative to the body modulates visual attention. Previous findings suggest that gestures directed towards the body (TB) may be particularly relevant for socio-cognitive processing. The present study investigated whether gesture direction and meaning modulate visual attention…
