- Evaluation of surgical outcomes and intervention threshold for small-angle acute acquired comitant esotropia. [Journal Article]Graefes Arch Clin Exp Ophthalmol. 2026 Sep 08. [Online ahead of print]GA
- CONCLUSIONS: Surgery for small-angle AACE is safe and effective. It may serve as a viable option for patients with deviations as small as 10 PD and a base-out recovery point of at least 15 PD at both near and far, pending validation in larger prospective cohorts.

- Contrast-to-noise Ratios to Evaluate the Added Value of the Ganglion Cell Complex Thickness for the Detection of Progression in Glaucoma. [Journal Article]J Glaucoma. 2026 Aug 18. [Online ahead of print]JG
- CONCLUSIONS: GCC thickness is more sensitive than functional measures, but less than cpRNFL thickness, for detecting progression at glaucoma onset. In later stages, structural and functional parameters showed comparable sensitivity within the limits of the available data.

- Irreversible vision loss following split lateral rectus nasal transposition for complete oculomotor nerve palsy. [Case Reports]Am J Ophthalmol Case Rep. 2026 Dec; 44:102651.AJ
- CONCLUSIONS: NTSLR can provide cosmetic benefits, but carries the potential risk of irreversible visual impairment. Careful technique and early evaluation of postoperative symptoms are essential.

- Analysis of retina, choroid, and microvascular structures in amblyopic patients using OCT and OCTA. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: Amblyopia was associated with structural retinal and choroidal differences, whereas OCTA parameters did not differ significantly among the groups. Future larger-scale and longitudinal studies may better elucidate the contribution of retinal microvascular changes to the pathophysiology of amblyopia.

- [Chinese expert consensus on the diagnosis and treatment of pediatric vernal keratoconjunctivitis (2026)]. [Journal Article]Zhonghua Yan Ke Za Zhi. 2026 Sep 11; 62(9):676-684.ZY
- Vernal keratoconjunctivitis (VKC) is a chronic, seasonal, recurrent, bilateral allergic inflammatory disease that predominantly affects children, severely impacting patients' quality of life. The early diagnosis rate of VKC in Chinese children is relatively low, treatment regimens vary, and clinical efficacy is difficult to guarantee. To guide the related clinical practice, the Cornea Group of Op…

- Visual outcome in 5-year-old children operated for non-syndromic craniosynostosis. [Journal Article]BMJ Open Ophthalmol. 2026 Sep 07; 11(3).BO
- CONCLUSIONS: Long-term visual outcomes assessed at preschool age varied in children operated for non-syndromic craniosynostosis. Unicoronal craniosynostosis had the greatest risk of visual impairment. Tailored screening is needed in order to address the ophthalmological challenges associated with different craniosynostosis subtypes.

- Prediction of Monocular and Binocular Visual Acuity for the Pseudophakic Patients Using Simulated Modulation Transfer Function. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: Monocular and binocular fittings showed similar correlation coefficients for the prediction of VA. VA calculated from simulated MTFa can be an accurate predictor of the clinical performance of an IOL design, helping to identify promising IOL designs early in the development process, improving optical quality and reducing the risk of suboptimal lenses advancing to manufacturing and clinical trials.

- Associations of Cone Density and Choroidal Thickness with Age: A Cross-Sectional Study. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: The cones showed significant correlation with the choroid and age. Reduced choroidal thickness and older age were associated with lower cone density, highlighting the interdependent aging of vascular and structural parameters in age-related visual impairment.

- Concurrent transfusion-related acute lung injury and posterior reversible encephalopathy: A rare multisystem imaging presentation. [Case Reports]
- Transfusion-related acute lung injury (TRALI) is a leading cause of transfusion-associated morbidity and mortality. Posterior reversible encephalopathy syndrome (PRES) following transfusion is uncommon, and its concurrent occurrence with TRALI has rarely been described in the literature. We report a 65-year-old male with ascending colon carcinoma status post right hemicolectomy on adjuvant chemot…

- Understanding septo-optic dysplasia: Endocrine implications and ophthalmic consequences. [Review]Best Pract Res Clin Endocrinol Metab. 2026 Aug 24; :102151. [Online ahead of print]BP
- Septo-optic dysplasia (SOD) is a heterogeneous neurodevelopmental disorder classically defined by optic nerve hypoplasia, hypothalamo-pituitary dysfunction, and midline brain abnormalities, although the full triad is not consistently present. This review synthesises current evidence on the developmental, endocrine, ophthalmic, and neuroradiological dimensions of the SOD/optic nerve hypoplasia spe…

- Weekly Home Monitoring of Glaucoma with Virtual Reality Perimetry: A 2-Year Prospective Longitudinal Study. [Journal Article]Ophthalmol Glaucoma. 2026 Sep 04. [Online ahead of print]OG
- CONCLUSIONS: Unsupervised home VR perimetry is feasible over long-term follow-up, demonstrating sustained adherence, high reliability, comparable intertest repeatability, and strong agreement with office HVF with predictable offsets. Higher-frequency home testing improves the precision of MD progression estimates, supporting home VR perimetry as a practical adjunct for longitudinal glaucoma monitoring.

- Disorders of craniofacial muscles (CFM) frequently arise from various conditions and injuries affecting the central and peripheral nervous systems, as well as from neurosurgical, reconstructive, and cosmetic interventions. The principal clinical manifestations include facial asymmetry, lagophthalmos, paralytic strabismus, synkinesis, contractures, trismus, bruxism, temporomandibular joint dysfunc…

- Variability Between Changes in Ocular Alignment and Gorman Diplopia Score After Teprotumumab in Thyroid Eye Disease. [Journal Article]Neuroophthalmology. 2026; 50(5):466-471.N
- Diplopia in thyroid eye disease (TED) results from restrictive myopathy and can be disabling. Teprotumumab, an insulin-like growth factor-1 (IGF-1) antagonist, reduces proptosis and improves diplopia as measured by a subjective Gorman diplopia score without assessing ocular misalignment. This study evaluated whether there was observed variability between subjective versus objective measures of di…

- Objective Assessment of Intermittent Exotropia Magnitude and Control Using the Binocular Eye Alignment Monitor. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: The notable differences in control observed with the BEAM compared to current clinical measures suggest that office control scores and prolonged objective monitoring may capture different aspects of IXT control. Objective monitoring over extended periods may be a valuable complement to traditional clinical assessment in both research and clinical care.
