  • Continuation versus discontinuation of intravenous oxytocin in the active phase of labour. [Systematic Review]
    Cochrane Database Syst Rev. 2026 Aug 25; 8:CD015995.Boie S, Uldbjerg N, … Girault ACD
  • CONCLUSIONS: Discontinuation of oxytocin in the active phase of induced or augmented labour may have little or no effect on caesarean birth and has little or no effect on instrumental birth. It may reduce uterine hyperstimulation at the expense of a longer duration of the active phase of labour, but this evidence is of very low certainty. The discontinuation strategy appears safe for both mother and baby, provided that adequate monitoring of uterine activity and foetal heart rate is maintained.
  • Piezo-Assisted Gap Arthroplasty: A Safer Surgical Approach for Temporomandibular Joint Ankylosis. [Case Reports]
    Cureus. 2026 Jul; 18(7):e113275.Bang K, Redekar O, … Kahare AC
  • Temporomandibular joint ankylosis (TMJa) is an incapacitating disease due to the fusion of the mandibular condyle with the temporal bone, leading to restricted mouth opening. In children, early surgical intervention is required to avoid alterations in growth and irreversible facial deformity. This case report outlines the treatment of unilateral Type III bony TMJa with piezo-assisted gap arthropl…
  • Malignant Seeding to the Trachea and Tracheostomy Site: A Case Report and Literature Review. [Case Reports]
Head Neck. 2026 Aug 23. [Online ahead of print]Giannaris P, Scarola D, Kaplan SEHN
  • CONCLUSIONS: Malignant seeding to the trachea or tracheostomy site is relatively rare with a poor prognosis. Measures to prevent this occurrence include delaying tracheostomy until tumor resection, using separate sterile instruments when performing multiple surgeries, and providing prophylactic radiation to the stoma in high-risk patients.
  • Hernias robotically? State of the art. [Review]
    Rozhl Chir. 2026; 105(7):324-327.Martínek LRC
  • The robotic approach has the potential to expand the advantages of minimally invasive surgery due to improved visualization, more sophisticated instruments, precise dissection, and better ergonomics. However, its benefits are not universal. For inguinal hernias, available data do not demonstrate a significant advantage over laparoscopy, particularly given the higher costs and often longer operati…
  • A bibliometric analysis of the top 100 most-cited shoulder arthroscopy patents. [Journal Article]
JSES Rev Rep Tech. 2026 Nov; 6(4):100828.Bhardwaj N, Saggar R, … Lin AJR
  • CONCLUSIONS: Arthroscopic Instruments and Fixation patents comprised more than half of the top 100 most-cited shoulder arthroscopy patents. Fixation patents demonstrated the highest citation impact, including the highest age-adjusted citation rate, a metric that showed no significant correlation with patent age and may therefore more reliably reflect technological influence independent of temporal bias. Age-adjusted citation rates and temporal trend analyses revealed a shifting patent landscape, with increasing innovation in Implants and OPR categories over time. This bibliometric and patent analysis characterizes the shoulder arthroscopy patent landscape and may serve as a resource for researchers, clinicians, and industry stakeholders seeking to identify areas of continued innovation.
