- Chromatin Accessibility Profiling of the Canine Brain Reveals Regulatory Programs Associated With Dog-Wolf Divergence and Human Psychiatric Risk. [Journal Article]Integr Zool. 2026 Sep 28. [Online ahead of print]IZ
- The domestic dog has emerged as a valuable model for investigating the biology of social behavior and neuropsychiatric disease, yet a comprehensive map of gene regulatory elements across the canine brain is still lacking. Here, we generated an ATAC-seq atlas spanning seven major brain regions and the pituitary gland from four adult beagle dogs. We identified 251,492 putative cis-regulatory elemen…

- The dromedary camel HPA axis: Baseline ultrastructure and functional correlates of cortisol following transport. [Journal Article]Tissue Cell. 2026 Sep 17; 104(Pt 2):103949. [Online ahead of print]TC
- CONCLUSIONS: This study provides the first integrated histomorphological, ultrastructural, and functionally anchored baseline for the camel HPA axis. The significant correlations between circulating cortisol and subcellular structures in the PVN and adrenal cortex transform descriptive observations into functionally validated structural correlates. The pattern of correlations were strongest in the adrenal cortex, robust in the hypothalamus, and absent in the anterior pituitary. This suggests compartmentalized, organ-specific structural plasticity along the axis. These findings provides a foundational reference for future hypothesis-driven research on neuroendocrine adaptation in desert-adapted mammals and position Camelus dromedarius as a valuable comparative model for investigating the structural correlates of physiological resilience.

- Resolved GH excess and arginine vasopressin deficiency following pituitary apoplexy. [Case Reports]JCEM Case Rep. 2026 Nov; 4(11):luag250.JC
- A 10-year, 8-month-old male presented with polyuria, polydipsia, and secondary nocturnal enuresis for 4 months following a severe headache. Initial fasting studies raised concern for partial arginine vasopressin deficiency (AVP-D). Brain magnetic resonance imaging revealed a possible pituitary adenoma vs artifact. His height was >99th percentile; he was prepubertal and growth charts demonstrated …

- Polymicrobial Catheter-Related Bloodstream Infection Involving Brevundimonas diminuta and Streptococcus anginosus: A Case Report and Literature Review. [Case Reports]
- Catheter-related bloodstream infections (CRBSIs) caused by Brevundimonas diminuta are rare, and polymicrobial infections involving this organism are exceptionally uncommon. To the best of our knowledge, we describe the first reported case of polymicrobial CRBSI caused by B. diminuta and Streptococcus anginosus in a woman with a pituitary gland tumor and intracranial hypertension who was receiving…

- Staining collagen fibers in pituitary lesions substantially improves the certainty of intraoperative frozen section diagnosis. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: This study introduces the Cason stain on frozen sections as a rapid, simple and inexpensive diagnostic tool essentially improving certainty in intraoperative histopathological diagnostics of PAs, thus facilitating surgical decision-making and optimizing clinical outcomes.

- Clinical characteristics and prognostic outcomes of silent corticotroph versus gonadotroph adenomas: A 603-case single-center cohort study. [Journal Article]
- Silent corticotroph adenomas (SCAs) and silent gonadotroph adenomas (SGAs) are subtypes of non-functioning pituitary adenomas (NFPAs).However, studies comparing SCAs and SGAs are scarce, and their differences in clinical features, behavior, and prognosis are not well understood. This retrospective cohort study included 603 NFPA patients (188 SCAs, 415 SGAs) who underwent surgery at Beijing Tianta…

- Pertrochanteric fracture in case of Sheehan syndrome: A rare case report. [Case Reports]
- Sheehan's syndrome is caused by ischemic necrosis of the pituitary gland following hypo-perfusion to the pituitary gland. The prevalence is around 3.2% in women <40 years of age and is relatively common in developing countries. The diagnosis is made with the help of a suggestive obstetric history, clinical manifestations, laboratory findings of reduced hormone levels, and pertinent radiological f…

- ERBB4 and Neurodegeneration: Association Between Hypothalamic-Pituitary-Adrenal (HPA) Axis: Associated Neurodegenerative Pathogenesis. [Review]
- The hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis is the central neuroendocrine system that controls physiological stress responses and maintains homeostasis through the coordinated interactions among the hypothalamus, pituitary gland, and adrenal cortex. Dysregulation of the HPA axis is associated with stress-related psychiatric conditions and neurodegenerative diseases, including Alzheimer's diseas…

- Age-related changes in HPT axis sensitivity and their associations with metabolic and cardiovascular health: a cross-sectional, Chinese nationwide study. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: Enhanced HPT axis sensitivity to fT3 increased with age (inflection point at 48 years in this study) and was associated with a lower prevalence of metabolic syndrome (in >48-year-olds) and ST-segment abnormalities (all adults).

- [Dermatoscopic "sky full of stars" pattern in a congenital melanocytic nevus with follicular distribution]. [Case Reports]
- CONCLUSIONS: Perifollicular aggregates observed on dermoscopy correspond to melanin deposits within follicular openings. The "sky full of stars" pattern, which has been rarely described, may be associated with melanocytes confined to the infundibulum and noncontiguous hair follicles. It is important to differentiate this pattern from the globular pattern, which indicates melanocytic activity. RCM may provide useful information for clinical follow-up.

- Role of Snord116 in pituitary growth hormone deficiency of Prader-Willi syndrome. [Journal Article]
- Prader-Willi syndrome (PWS) is a complex genetic disorder resulting from the deficiency of several maternally imprinted genes, including SNORD116, in the 15q11-q13 region. Loss of Snord116 in mice recapitulates some of the most salient clinical features of PWS, including growth hormone (GH) deficiency and hypogonadism. This study explored the impact of Snord116 deficiency on early postnatal pitui…

- CONCLUSIONS: Abnormal cranial MRI findings were identified in nearly one-quarter of girls with CPP. Higher BMI z-scores were associated with abnormal MRI findings, whereas age at puberty onset and other clinical variables did not reliably predict intracranial abnormalities.

- The succinate dehydrogenase (SDH) enzyme composed of four subunits (A-D) has a key role in the Krebs cycle and oxidative phosphorylation. Germline pathogenic variants (GPV) in the genes encoding the four subunits of the succinate dehydrogenase (SDH) enzyme (SDHA/SDHB/SDHC/SDHD), collectively known as SDHx are recognized as a paradigm for the role of disordered metabolism in oncogenesis as GPVs in…

- Endocrine and Metabolic Diseases in Donkeys. [Review]Vet Clin North Am Equine Pract. 2026 Sep 17. [Online ahead of print]VC
- Donkeys have a plethora of species-specific metabolic traits that make them predisposed to endocrinopathies and metabolic disturbances. Due to their ability to digest poor-quality feedstuff and accumulate adipose tissue, donkeys are prone to obesity. Insulin dysregulation/metabolic syndrome, pituitary pars intermedia dysfunction, and endocrinopathic laminitis are also prevalent in donkeys. Their …
