- Myxoma of the round ligament mimicking femoral hernia: a diagnostic surprise in the operating room. [Case Reports]Int J Surg Case Rep. 2026 Oct; 138(10):4468-4472.IJ
- CONCLUSIONS: Round ligament myxoma is an exceptional clinical entity that can mimic a femoral hernia. Awareness of such rare pathologies aids appropriate perioperative management and accurate diagnosis.

- A Randomised Comparison of Barbed and Non-barbed Absorbable Sutures for Peritoneal Closure in TAPP Hernia Repair. [Journal Article]J West Afr Coll Surg. 2026 Oct-Dec; 16(4):403-407.JW
- CONCLUSIONS: Absorbable barbed sutures are effective in reducing closure and operative times in TAPP hernia repair but may be associated with higher early postoperative pain. They offer a useful option for improving operative efficiency without increasing complication rates.

- Obturator hernia misdiagnosed as inguinal incarceration: a case of postoperative small-bowel perforation and subcutaneous fecal emphysema. [Case Reports]Int J Surg Case Rep. 2026 Oct; 138(10):4051-4054.IJ
- CONCLUSIONS: Obturator hernia remains a diagnostic challenge in emergency surgery. In cases of persistent postoperative obstruction after groin hernia repair, alternative diagnoses should be considered. This case also underlines the importance of complete operative documentation and close postoperative follow-up. Subcutaneous fecal emphysema represents an exceptionally rare but severe manifestation of gastrointestinal perforation.

- Two-stage laparoscopic management of De Garengeot hernia with gangrenous appendicitis: a case report and literature review. [Case Reports]Int J Surg Case Rep. 2026 Oct; 138(10):4066-4070.IJ
- CONCLUSIONS: Staged laparoscopic management is safe and effective for gangrenous DGH, permitting clean-field mesh repair and reducing recurrence risk.

- Effect of an enhanced recovery after surgery-based multidisciplinary perioperative care pathway in children undergoing laparoscopic high ligation of the hernia sac. [Clinical Trial]Front Surg. 2026; 13:1940313.FS
- CONCLUSIONS: The ERAS-based multidisciplinary perioperative pathway was associated with shorter hospital stay, faster gastrointestinal recovery, fewer in-hospital complications, and greater parental satisfaction after laparoscopic high ligation of the hernia sac. Findings from the pain, restlessness, PSQI, and Barthel Index measures are purely exploratory.

- Fragility of randomized clinical trials comparing surgical approaches for inguinal hernia repair: a systematic review. [Systematic Review]
- CONCLUSIONS: Randomized trials remain central to comparative evidence in inguinal hernia repair. FI and RFI provide complementary post hoc context regarding how many outcome-status changes would alter a dichotomous significance classification and should be interpreted alongside prespecified trial design, effect estimates, confidence intervals, P values, sample size, missing data, and clinical relevance.

- Clarifying statistical comparisons and procedural change in the TAPP learning curve. [Letter]Langenbecks Arch Surg. 2026 Oct 09; 411(1).LA
- CONCLUSIONS: The published aggregate data warrant clarification of the statistical procedure underlying the reported overall comparison. Distinguishing overall group differences from ordered temporal trends and considering concurrent procedural adaptation may refine interpretation of the observed learning process.

- Systemic Immune-Inflammation Index as a Predictor of Ovarian Necrosis in Children With Incarcerated Ovary Hernia: A Single-Centre Retrospective Study. [Journal Article]J Paediatr Child Health. 2026 Oct 09. [Online ahead of print]JP
- CONCLUSIONS: SII showed good discrimination for ovarian necrosis in paediatric incarcerated ovary hernia, but did not outperform the simpler NLR in this small cohort. Both CBC-derived indices may assist preoperative risk stratification; however, the proposed thresholds are exploratory and require prospective multicentre external validation before clinical implementation.

- A novel artificial intelligence anatomical model for landmark recognition in endolaparoscopic totally extraperitoneal inguinal hernia repair. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: This AI model shows promise for real-time TEP landmark recognition, potentially accelerating training and reducing complications in endo-laparoscopic hernia repair.

- Primary defect closure in minimally invasive direct inguinal hernia repair: a propensity-weighted analysis. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: Direct defect closure was associated with a reduction in early wound complications and higher 30-day cardiac readmissions. Given the very small absolute number of cardiac readmissions (3 vs 1) that are likely unrelated to defect closure, these findings support selective use of direct defect closure, particularly in patients with larger medial defects or higher wound complication risk. Randomized trials with standardized operative protocols are still needed to confirm our findings.

- Surgeon task load, ergonomics, and clinical outcomes in laparoscopic versus robotic-assisted inguinal hernia repair: a systematic review and meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials. [Systematic Review]
- Conventional laparoscopic inguinal hernia repair (LIHR) is common and robotic-assisted techniques (RIHR) are increasingly being implemented. Current literature is indecisive on whether RIHR offers clinical and ergonomical benefits. This systematic review compares LIHR and RIHR specifically focusing on surgeon workload and ergonomics. A literature search was performed in four databases to find ran…

- External feasibility and early outcomes of circular-incision transabdominal preperitoneal repair (C-TAPP) for unilateral indirect inguinal hernia: A prospective Vietnamese series. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: C-TAPP was technically reproducible in selected Vietnamese patients with unilateral indirect inguinal hernia, with no conversion or early recurrence. Longer-term and comparative studies are needed to establish durability and potential advantages over conventional TAPP.

- Fascia lata autograft for recurrent inguinal hernia repair in a geriatric pet rabbit (Oryctolagus cuniculus): a case report. [Case Reports]
- CONCLUSIONS: To the authors' knowledge, this represents the first reported use of a fascia lata autograft for recurrent inguinal hernia repair in a pet rabbit. This case suggests that fascia lata autografting may represent a feasible reconstructive option in selected rabbits when primary suture closure is considered insufficient. Further studies are required to evaluate long-term outcomes and recurrence rates in exotic companion mammals.

- Duplicated spermatic cord encountered during inguinal hernia repair. [Case Reports]
- A male patient in his seventh decade underwent elective open right inguinal hernia repair. Intraoperatively, we discovered complete spermatic cord duplication-two separate structures, each containing a vas deferens and neurovascular bundle. The hernia repair was successfully completed with careful preservation of both cord structures. To our knowledge, this represents the first reported case of t…
