- Three-decade trends in nonalcoholic fatty liver disease across 204 countries and territories: An age-period-cohort analysis from 1990 to 2021. [Journal Article]Medicine (Baltimore). 2026 Oct 02; 105(40):e50989.M
- Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) has emerged as a leading chronic liver disease globally, driven by the rising incidence of obesity, type 2 diabetes, and metabolic syndrome. Despite the increasing burden, most studies focus on prevalence rather than incidence, leaving a gap in understanding temporal patterns of NAFLD incidence. We conducted an age-period-cohort analysis of NAFLD incidence…

- Primary pulmonary mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue lymphoma presenting as a right hilar mass: A case report. [Case Reports]Medicine (Baltimore). 2026 Oct 02; 105(40):e51002.M
- CONCLUSIONS: Differentiating PPL from central lung cancer and coexisting benign mediastinal abnormalities presents a significant clinical challenge, particularly when atypical radiological features mimic aggressive carcinomas. Whole-body 18F-FDG PET/CT serves as an invaluable, noninvasive modality for metabolic characterization, accurate loco-regional staging, and preventing clinical overstaging by effectively differentiating metabolically active lymphoma from concurrent benign lesions.

- Management of recurrent posterior dislocation of a stock temporomandibular joint prosthesis using class II elastic traction: A case report and literature review. [Case Reports]Medicine (Baltimore). 2026 Oct 02; 105(40):e50718.M
- CONCLUSIONS: Recurrent dislocation may occur after TMJR, particularly following extensive mandibular repositioning and postoperative muscular instability. Prompt recognition, appropriate prosthesis repositioning, and postoperative elastic traction may reduce the risk of recurrence and avoid additional surgery.

- Recurrent giant retroperitoneal liposarcoma: A case report. [Case Reports]Medicine (Baltimore). 2026 Oct 02; 105(40):e50815.M
- CONCLUSIONS: This case describes an exceptionally large recurrent retroperitoneal liposarcoma measuring 43 × 32 × 23 cm and weighing approximately 20 kg, with a prolonged 13-year clinical course characterized by multiple recurrences and repeated surgical resections. It demonstrates that even an extremely large recurrent tumor may remain amenable to surgical resection following comprehensive imaging evaluation and multidisciplinary planning, with appropriate preparation for possible adjacent-organ resection. Nevertheless, the development of multifocal abdominopelvic recurrence 18 months after surgery underscores the persistent risk of recurrence and the need for structured, long-term postoperative surveillance. This case contributes to the limited literature by illustrating both the feasibility and the inherent limitations of repeated surgical management for giant recurrent retroperitoneal liposarcoma.

- Comparative evaluation of the sarcopenia index and 5 related creatinine-cystatin C biomarkers in relation to all-cause mortality in older adults: A cohort study. [Journal Article]Medicine (Baltimore). 2026 Oct 02; 105(40):e50842.M
- Several creatinine- and cystatin C-based biomarkers have been individually associated with mortality, but their comparative associations have rarely been evaluated head-to-head under a common analytic framework. We compared 6 related biomarkers in relation to all-cause mortality in older adults. In the China Health and Retirement Longitudinal Study 2015 to 2020 cohort, we studied 2987 men (428 de…

- A folate receptor-targeted NIR-II probe improves intraoperative imaging and surgery of metastatic ovarian cancer. [Journal Article]Sci Adv. 2026 Oct 02; 12(40):eaed7722.SA
- Intraoperative fluorescence imaging holds great promise for achieving complete cytoreduction in ovarian cancer, but its clinical utility is currently constrained by the limitations of existing imaging agents. In particular, the leading clinical probe, OTL38, operates in the near-infrared I (NIR-I; 700 to 1000 nanometers) window, which suffers from limited tissue penetration and suboptimal resolut…

- PAK4 exacerbates melanoma immunosuppression by promoting exosome release. [Journal Article]Proc Natl Acad Sci U S A. 2026 Oct 06; 123(40):e2536086123.PN
- Melanoma remains a lethal malignancy with frequent resistance to immune checkpoint blockade therapy. Clinical evidence associates elevated PAK4 expression with poor response to anti-PD-1 treatment in melanoma patients. While tumor-derived exosomes are recognized as key immunosuppressive mediators, the role of PAK4 in regulating exosome secretion to induce immunosuppression remains incompletely un…

- Eye-Tracking Phenotypes Across the Depressive Spectrum: Joint Modeling of Diagnostic Group and Symptom Severity. [Journal Article]CNS Neurosci Ther. 2026 Oct; 32(10):e71198.CN
- CONCLUSIONS: Eye-tracking alterations spanned the depressive spectrum and were associated with symptom severity after covariate adjustment. Between-route differences were imprecisely estimated, and joint-task training showed no clear improvement in severity estimation. External and temporal validation are required before clinical use.

- Osteoarthritis (OA) is the most common form of arthritis, characterized by pathological changes in joint components. Increasing evidence suggests that helper T (TH) lymphocytes play a pivotal role in the inflammatory processes associated with OA. Curcumin, the primary polyphenolic compound found in Curcuma longa, exhibits potent antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. This study aimed to ev…

- Condylar Bone Remodeling After TMJ Disc Repositioning Using Sutureless Screws Versus Suture Anchors for Anterior Disc Displacement Without Reduction: A Prospective Cohort Study. [Journal Article]Clin Oral Investig. 2026 Oct 02; 30(10).CO
- CONCLUSIONS: Sutureless repositioning screw fixation achieved reliable condylar bone remodeling outcomes at the 12-month follow-up, with no independent difference detected compared with suture anchor fixation after adjustment. Age may be associated with selected postoperative bone remodeling outcomes, and adolescent patients tended to show more favorable remodeling in some measures than adults.
