- Compression Syndromes of the Stylohyoid Complex: Neural, Arterial, and Venous Phenotypes in a Dynamic Neurovascular Corridor. [Review]Tomography. 2026 Sep 07; 12(9).T
- Background/Objectives: Compression syndromes of the stylohyoid complex (SHC) encompass neural, arterial, and venous presentations extending beyond classic Eagle syndrome. Symptomatic disease is increasingly recognised as a dynamic neurovascular conflict determined not by styloid process (SP) length alone, but by three-dimensional orientation, vessel and nerve proximity, and positional musculoskel…

- A Novel Mouse Model for Venous High-Load Remodeling Induced by Unilateral Jugular Vein Transection. [Journal Article]J Cardiovasc Dev Dis. 2026 Sep 10; 13(9).JC
- Chronic venous disease (CVD) is a prevalent peripheral vascular disorder characterized by vascular remodeling driven by hemodynamic overload, yet available animal models are limited by high surgical difficulty and unstable induction efficiency. Here, we developed a novel mouse venous high-load remodeling model by selectively ablating the unilateral cervical venous drainage system. After 4 weeks, …

- Anatomical corridors and quantitative spatial parameters of the jugular foramen: a computed tomography-based reference for skull base surgery. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: This study successfully provides a comprehensive morphometric framework for the JF region. These established baselines, particularly in the JP and MP-JP-SP triangle areas, serve as population-based reference data intended to support preoperative spatial mapping of complex neurovascular boundaries and anatomical orientation during skull base procedures, pending further anatomical and clinical validation.

- Effects of inhalation anesthesia with sevoflurane combined with oxygen inhalation on cerebral oxygen metabolism and cognitive function in lung cancer patients undergoing unilateral lung ventilation. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: Sevoflurane inhalation anesthesia can improve cerebral oxygen metabolism, accelerate the post-anesthesia recovery process, and enhance pulmonary function in patients undergoing one-lung ventilation for lung cancer surgery compared with propofol, but it is also associated with a higher risk of postoperative cognitive dysfunction at 24 hours after surgery.

- A familial case series of refractory head noise, tinnitus, and sleep disorders caused by internal jugular vein stenosis: illustrative cases. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: These cases imply that IJVS may be a significant factor leading to head noise, tinnitus, and sleep disorders. IJV decompression demonstrates marked efficacy and represents a novel approach for alleviating such symptoms. Familial clustering of IJVS deserves attention and requires further research. https://thejns.org/doi/10.3171/CASE25693.

- BackgroundIntracranial venous hypertension (IVH) is an underrecognised cause of persistent craniofacial symptoms, often presenting with nonspecific features such as pressure-type headaches, pulsatile tinnitus, and visual disturbances. This case illustrates a complex diagnostic dilemma in which symptoms classically attributed to Eagle Syndrome masked another vascular cause of intracranial venous h…

- Anatomical impact of C1 transverse process resection on inferior and inferolateral exposure at the craniocervical junction: a cadaveric study. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: C1 laminectomy is the key step for increasing inferior reach at the CCJ, whereas C1 transverse process resection primarily improves inferolateral maneuverability and VA mobilization. Because substantial exposure is already achieved after condylar drilling and C1 laminectomy, transverse process resection should be applied selectively rather than routinely, particularly in lesions requiring extensive VA mobilization or inferolateral exposure.

- [Clinical manifestations and local inflammatory-destructive changes in congenital cholesteatoma of the mastoid process]. [Review]Vestn Otorinolaringol. 2026; 91(4):92-98.VO
- CONCLUSIONS: It is important to note that congenital mastoid cholesteatoma is asymptomatic for a long period. Unlike middle ear cholesteatoma, it does not impair hearing and is invisible on otoscopy. Consequently, it is diagnosed only in adulthood, following the development of mastoid destruction and the involvement of surrounding structures.

- Development and field validation of a large-volume bag-based whole-blood collection method in donor dairy cows. [Journal Article]
- Obtaining sterile anticoagulated whole-blood units is a key prerequisite for downstream laboratory and clinical applications involving blood-derived products. In bovine medicine, however, published information on blood collection into bags is mainly embedded in transfusion-oriented references or broader downstream studies, while formal validation of donor-oriented collection methods remains limit…

- Internal carotid artery anterior transposition for internal jugular vein decompression: illustrative case. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: This case demonstrates that anterior ICA transposition with styloid fixation is a viable surgical option for symptomatic IJV compression. This technique may represent a novel approach for select patients with arterial-venous compression syndromes in the neck. https://thejns.org/doi/10.3171/CASE26599.

- Development of a Three-Layered Fascial Architecture in the Rabbit Carotid Sheath: Histological Findings Consistent With Mechanical Influences. [Journal Article]
- Current understanding of the fascial structures within the human carotid sheath (CS) is largely based on static anatomical descriptions, with limited knowledge of their dynamic developmental process. This study aimed to characterise the developmental progression of the fascial architecture surrounding neurovascular components within the CS across four stages in the New Zealand White rabbit. - Cerebral Venous Sinus Thrombosis Revealing ALK-Positive Anaplastic Large-Cell Lymphoma in a Patient with Inherited Thrombophilia and Concomitant Infection: Case Report and Narrative Review. [Case Reports]
- Cerebral venous sinus thrombosis (CVST) is an uncommon cerebrovascular disorder with heterogeneous manifestations and may occasionally precede the diagnosis of an underlying malignancy. We report the case of a 24-year-old man who presented with recurrent fever, headache, pharyngodynia, and systemic inflammation initially attributed to a sinonasal or odontogenic infectious process. He subsequently…
