- Topographical Patterns of Slow Wave Activity in Sleep Talking: An Exploratory Polysomnographic Investigation. [Journal Article]J Sleep Res. 2026 Oct 08; :e70474. [Online ahead of print]JS
- Sleep talking (ST) is a parasomnia characterized by the utterance of unaware linguistic activations during sleep. Electrophysiological evidence is scarce, and it remains unclear whether local electroencephalographic (EEG) alterations characterize the sleep of STs outside of parasomnia episodes. Findings from NREM parasomnias suggest that local slow-wave activity (SWA) abnormalities may characteri…

- Technical Feasibility of a Multimodal Electro-Optical and Infrared Imaging Pipeline for Postoperative Wound Assessment After Total Knee Arthroplasty: Formative Evaluation Study. [Journal Article]JMIR Form Res. 2026 Oct 08; 10:e99244.JF
- CONCLUSIONS: In this formative study, a multimodal EO and infrared imaging pipeline demonstrated technical feasibility for postoperative wound assessment following TKA, providing noncontact discrimination of infection-related complications that compared favorably with established adjuncts. This work provides proof-of-concept for multimodal imaging-based assessment and defines the technical requirements for the prospective, multicenter external validation needed to establish clinical utility.

- CONCLUSIONS: In conclusion, exosome-mediated delivery of a dual miRNA sponge represents a mechanism-driven strategy to reprogram senescence-associated gene networks and restore MSC function. This approach provides a promising cell-free nucleic acid therapeutic platform for regenerative medicine applications.

- Stigmasterol suppresses macrophage-mediated inflammatory amplification in acute pancreatitis through PPAR-γ-dependent macrophage reprogramming. [Journal Article]J Ethnopharmacol. 2026 Oct 08; :122500. [Online ahead of print]JE
- CONCLUSIONS: Although further validation in additional experimental models is warranted, STG ameliorates AP through PPAR-γ-dependent remodeling of macrophage immune responses, accompanied by reduced extracellular HMGB1 release and attenuation of TLR4/NF-κB-associated inflammatory signaling.

- USP9X Inhibition Promotes Autophagy-associated Clearance of Intracellular Botulinum Neurotoxin A and Accelerates Functional Recovery. [Journal Article]Neurotoxicology. 2026 Oct 08; :103586. [Online ahead of print]N
- The prolonged neuroparalytic effect of botulinum neurotoxin type A (BoNT/A) is largely attributable to the high intracellular stability of its light chain (LC), highlighting the need for strategies to promote LC clearance. Although deubiquitinating enzymes (DUBs) regulate LC turnover through both proteasomal and non-proteasomal pathways, the latter remains poorly understood. Here, we investigated…

- Piezo3 is a new member of the PIEZO ion channel family in vertebrates. [Journal Article]Dev Biol. 2026 Oct 08. [Online ahead of print]DB
- Mechanosensing and mechanotransduction are essential for all living cells. In mammals, Piezo1 and Piezo2 are two mechanically activated cation channels that serve as mechanosensors for a variety of physiological and pathological processes, ranging from touch sensing to sickle cell disease. These two channels are well evolutionarily conserved, and orthologous genes can be traced back to the origin…

- Phototransformation is an important attenuation process for pharmaceuticals in the aquatic environment. However, there are unknowns regarding the kinetics, products, and mechanisms of the sensitized photolysis of many pharmaceuticals induced by natural sensitizers. In this study, we systematically investigated the photochemical behavior and fate of the diuretic furosemide (FUR) under natural sunl…

- Ferulic acid-mediated selenium nanoparticles attenuate oxaliplatin-induced renal injury in type 2 diabetic rats via modulation of oxidative stress, SIRT1/HMGB1/TLR4 signaling, endoplasmic reticulum stress, and apoptosis. [Journal Article]Tissue Cell. 2026 Oct 04; 104(Pt 3):104018. [Online ahead of print]TC
- CONCLUSIONS: Ferulic acid-mediated selenium nanoparticles effectively protected against oxaliplatin-induced renal injury in T2DM rats via coordinated antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, anti-apoptotic, and endoplasmic reticulum stress-modulating mechanisms involving activation of the SIRT1/Nrf2/HO-1 axis and inhibition of HMGB1/TLR4 signaling. These results support FA-SeNPs as a promising multifunctional nanotherapeutic strategy for reducing chemotherapy-associated nephrotoxicity in diabetic patients and warrant further translational investigation.
