- In vitro diagnostics of drug hypersensitivity reactions. [Review]Allergol Select. 2026; 10:209-218.AS
- In vitro diagnostics of drug hypersensitivity reactions comprises different tests that can add important information for identifying the culprit drug. Depending on the patients' clinical history and underlying immune mechanisms, these tests can be classified into immediate-type and late-type in vitro assays. While they are currently mostly not part of routine diagnostics, knowledge of when to app…

- Dynamics of virological suppression and systemic immune-inflammatory response following antiretroviral therapy in pediatric HIV infection. [Journal Article]Front Cell Infect Microbiol. 2026; 16:1918829.FC
- CONCLUSIONS: In this pediatric HIV cohort, SII failed to improve in nearly half of patients despite successful ART, dissociating from both CD4 reconstitution and HIV RNA suppression. These findings suggest SII reflects a residual inflammatory state driven by mechanisms beyond viral replication, including ART class-specific, sex-related, and developmental factors. Routine SII monitoring may identify patients at ongoing inflammatory risk despite virological success; larger prospective studies are needed.

- Hypothermic oxygenated and normothermic machine perfusion mitigate innate systemic and hepatic inflammation after liver transplantation. [Journal Article]Gut. 2026 Sep 29. [Online ahead of print]Gut
- CONCLUSIONS: In a randomised controlled trial using human samples, HOPE and NMP differentially modulate hepatic and systemic immune responses, attenuating neutrophil-driven inflammation and promoting immune regulation after liver transplantation.

- FGL1-hepcidin axis in iron homeostasis and disease. [Review]Clin Chim Acta. 2026 Sep 29; :122859. [Online ahead of print]CC
- Systemic iron homeostasis is governed by hepcidin through regulation of the iron exporter ferroportin. Hepcidin expression is primarily regulated by the bone morphogenetic protein (BMP)-SMAD signaling pathway, which integrates signals from iron status, erythropoietic demand, and inflammation. Fibrinogen-like protein 1 (FGL1) has recently emerged as a hepatocyte-derived regulator of this axis. FGL…

- Multiplex Immunofluorescence-defined CXCL13-associated TLS-like Niches Predict Outcome in Bladder Cancer. [Journal Article]Clin Cancer Res. 2026 Sep 29. [Online ahead of print]CC
- CONCLUSIONS: mIF-defined mTLS identify a clinically relevant spatial immune architecture linked to favorable outcome and therapeutic responsiveness in BC. These findings support prospective evaluation of mTLS as a spatial biomarker for risk stratification and treatment sequencing, with CXCL13/CXCR5 features interpreted as contextual companion markers rather than standalone determinants.

- Building an Interleukin-10-Producing Identity: How B Cells Acquire Interleukin-10 Competence and How Plasma Cell Differentiation Consolidates This Program. [Review]
- Interleukin (IL)-10-producing B cells represent an archetype for the regulatory functions of B cells. Here, we review the cell-surface receptors and transcriptional regulators that control IL-10 expression in B cells and enable their regulatory function in vivo. To integrate available data, we propose a three-layer competence-execution-stabilization (CES) framework for IL-10-mediated B cell regul…

- SLAMF6 Enhances the Efficacy of Anti-PD-L1 Immunotherapy in CRC Through the STAT1/CXCL10 Signaling Axis. [Journal Article]
- As a T-cell receptor co-stimulatory protein, signaling lymphocyte activation molecule family 6 (SLAMF6) is a member of the immune cell activating receptor family and is expressed on T cells, B cells, natural killer cells (NK cells), and tumor cells. To date, the biological functions and clinical significance of SLAMF6 in certain solid tumors remain to be elucidated. We analyzed the transcriptiona…

- A Novel Sulfatide Analog Recognized by Human iNKT Cells Enhances Polyfunctional Antigen-Specific CD8[+] T Cell Responses. [Journal Article]Eur J Immunol. 2026 Sep; 56(9):e70285.EJ
- Invariant natural killer T (iNKT) cells are CD1d-restricted T cells that recognize lipid antigens. Studies of analogs of a prototypic iNKT cell antigen, α-galactosylceramide (α-GalCer), have shown that ceramide structure affects the activities of mouse iNKT cells recognizing the antigen. However, the impact of antigen structure on human iNKT cell activities is less well studied. This study evalua…

- Clinical Impact of CTLA4 and LAG3 Single-Nucleotide Polymorphisms in Multiple Myeloma Patients Treated With BCMA CAR T-Cell Therapy. [Journal Article]
- Chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T-cell therapy targeting B-cell maturation antigen (BCMA) is a highly effective treatment option for patients with relapsed refractory multiple myeloma (RRMM). However, reliable biomarkers predicting long-term treatment response remain elusive. Germline single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in immune checkpoint regulators, including cytotoxic T-lymphocyte-associat…

- NETs drive CD4[+] T cell dysfunction in sepsis via mitochondrial ROS and impaired calcium signalling. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: The NETs-mtROS axis represents an important pathway driving CD4[+] T cell death in sepsis. Dual targeting of NETs and mitochondrial oxidative stress holds promising therapeutic potential for ameliorating sepsis-induced immunosuppression.

- Temporal dynamics of the immune response to neoadjuvant androgen deprivation therapy suggest a window of opportunity for checkpoint inhibitor therapy in prostate cancer. [Journal Article]J Immunother Cancer. 2026 Sep 28; 14(9).JI
- CONCLUSIONS: These data reveal the induction of a bi-phasic response in the TiME: robust CTL activation 3-5 months after nADT is initiated, followed by myeloid immunosuppression in tumors receiving prolonged nADT. This ADT-induced reprogramming of the TiME suggests a critical window of opportunity where short-duration ADT might augment CPI efficacy, converting cold into immunologically responsive tumors.

- Alternative splicing of CD244 restrains natural killer cells at the maternal-fetal interface. [Journal Article]Mucosal Immunol. 2026 Sep 28; :100408. [Online ahead of print]MI
- Decidual natural killer (dNK) cells are the predominant lymphocyte population at the maternal-fetal interface during early pregnancy, where they support placentation, vascular remodelling and immune tolerance. Despite their abundance, the mechanisms governing their proliferative state remain poorly understood. Here, we show that first-trimester dNK cells reside in a stable non-cycling state chara…

- CONCLUSIONS: In this real-world registry cohort, both rapamycin and leniolisib were associated with improvement of lymphoproliferation in APDS. Treatment-limiting adverse events were reported under rapamycin. Prospective long-term studies are needed to better define the role of these therapies and their long-term impact on disease outcome, including malignancy risk.In a real-world APDS cohort, leniolisib and rapamycin reduced benign lymphoproliferation, with treatment-limiting adverse events reported only under rapamycin.

- Microwave ablation (MWA) for large hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is frequently compromised by non-uniform thermal distribution and immunosuppressive niche formation. To address these challenges, we engineered an injectable bimodal nanodepot (TCPD) via catalytic crosslinking of dopamine-modified hyaluronic acid by microwave thermal converter cesium-doped Prussian blue, enabling co-delivery of glu…
