  • Exogenous Hormones and Their Clinical Implications for the Development and Growth of Meningioma Tumours. [Review]
    J Clin Med. 2026 Jul 15; 15(14).Roy H, Stavrakas M, Muquit SJC
  • Meningiomas are the most common central nervous system tumour and are associated with significant morbidity. Mounting evidence implicates the role of exogenous hormones in meningioma development and growth. This has led to increasing pressure on healthcare professionals to understand the risk profile of different hormonal compounds with regards to meningioma incidence and growth. This is particul…
  • Contraception Use Differs Across Solid Organ Transplant Types Among Women Transplanted in Reproductive Age. [Journal Article]
Am J Transplant. 2026 Jul 24. [Online ahead of print]Cooper KM, Mahle RE, … Przybyszewski EMAJ
  • There are a growing number of reproductive age solid organ transplant (SOT) recipients, yet comparative data on contraception use across organ types are limited. We performed a retrospective cohort study of women who underwent first-time liver, kidney, heart, or lung transplantation between the ages of 18 and 45 from 2015 and 2025 using TriNetX (n=10,155). Contraception uptake within two years wa…
  • Influence of Cardiometabolic Status on Cardiovascular Effects of Oral Menopausal Hormone Therapy. [Journal Article]
Obstet Gynecol. 2026 Jul 24. [Online ahead of print]Rossouw JE, Aragaki AK, … LaCroix AZOG
  • CONCLUSIONS: Higher baseline levels of LDL cholesterol when using CEE+MPA or lower levels of HDL cholesterol when using CEE resulted in an increased risk for CHD across all age groups. Prior treatment of hyperlipidemia demonstrated no increased risk of CHD in patients treated with CEE+MPA or CEE compared with those receiving placebo. Assessment of blood lipids could assist with selection of patients for treatment with CEE of CEE+MPA.
  • Contraceptive practices during monitoring for molar pregnancy: A mixed methods analysis. [Journal Article]
Contraception. 2026 Jul 14; 163:111556. [Online ahead of print]Sheffield SM, Fitch KC, … Davidson BAC
  • CONCLUSIONS: Despite guideline-based recommendations, more than one-fifth of patients did not use contraception during monitoring for molar pregnancy. Qualitative data demonstrate that method selection is uniquely shaped by the importance of beta-hCG monitoring and desire for expeditious return to fertility.
  • Mechanistic understanding of LAI suspension intramuscular depot formation: A physicochemical perspective. [Journal Article]
    J Control Release. 2026 Jul 13; 397:115177. [Online ahead of print]Malavia N, Bao Q, … Burgess DJJC
  • Long-acting injectable (LAI) suspensions have emerged as a promising class of drug delivery systems offering sustained drug release, improved patient adherence, and reduced dosing frequency. However, their in vivo performance remains poorly understood due to the complex interplay of physicochemical and physiological factors governing depot formation at the intramuscular (IM) injection site. The p…
  • Progestogen-primed ovarian stimulation vs GnRH antagonists and/or agonists for women undergoing assisted reproduction: systematic review and meta-analysis. [Systematic Review]
Ultrasound Obstet Gynecol. 2026 Aug; 68(2):188-201.Martins WP, Nastri COUO
  • CONCLUSIONS: Current evidence of moderate-to-low certainty suggests that PPOS results in a higher number of oocytes and a higher live-birth rate in the first embryo-transfer cycle compared with a GnRH antagonist protocol. PPOS appears safe, with no case of severe OHSS observed across the analyzed cohorts. Given its oral administration, lower drug cost and demonstrated efficacy, PPOS represents a viable and potentially superior alternative to GnRH analogs for women undergoing ovarian stimulation for whom fresh-embryo transfer is not intended. © 2026 International Society of Ultrasound in Obstetrics and Gynecology.
  • Previous Cerebral Venous Sinus Thrombosis in Pregnancy: Clinical Challenges and Outcomes - A Case Report. [Case Reports]
    Int J Womens Health. 2026; 18:608250.Kurnia AA, Bayuaji H, … Zulvayanti ZIJ
  • CONCLUSIONS: Special consideration is required when administering antithrombotic therapy during pregnancy and delivery. This case highlights the importance of appropriate contraceptive counseling in women with a history of CVST and the need for pregnancy-safe anticoagulation strategies to minimize thrombotic complications and optimize maternal and fetal outcomes. Management of CVST in pregnancy should involve a multidisciplinary team to determine the safest mode of delivery and optimize maternal and fetal outcomes.
