- Marine Parasites as Bioindicators for Toxins and Their Potential Role as Environmental Sinks for Marine Fauna. [Journal Article]J Parasitol Res. 2026; 2026:5538084.JP
- CONCLUSIONS: The superfluous iron influx within the intestinal environment apparently brought about physiological changes in the host's body tissues as well. The excessive iron content from the tissues of nematodes first crossed the worm's membrane barrier. Next, the iron content was stored in different body organs of roundworms to avoid the influence of toxicity on the fish host's body. Apparently, the parasitic tissues of the nematode functionally operated as an environmental sink which could relieve body tissues of the host fish due to unwarranted duress under biometallic stress.

- Bidirectional beam deflection induced by the local phase transition through field-driven dynamics of polar nanoregions. [Journal Article]Opt Express. 2026 Apr 06; 34(7):12965-12977.OE
- A recent experiment revealed what we believe to be a novel bidirectional deflection phenomenon in single KTN crystals near the Curie temperature by only applying unidirectional electric field. The electric-field dependent dielectric permittivity was measured to clarify the dielectric response to the electric field through field-driven reorientation and condensation of polar nanoregions (PNRs) and…

- Enhancement of Functional and Bread Making Properties of Pearl Millet Flour Through the Supplementation of Pre-Gelatinized Pearl Millet Flour. [Journal Article]J Texture Stud. 2026 Jun; 57(3):e70083.JT
- This study investigated the effect of pre-gelatinized pearl millet flour (PGPMF) supplementation on the quality characteristics of native pearl millet flour and bread prepared from the blends. The PGPMF was prepared by steaming the pearl millet grains, followed by drying and milling. The PGPMF was substituted in the native pearl millet flour in varying proportions and blends were characterized fo…

- Design and simulation of ellipsoidal single-bounce mono-capillary condensers for a laboratory X-Ray nano-imaging system. [Journal Article]Ultramicroscopy. 2026 May; 283:114359.U
- X-ray nano-imaging enables nondestructive characterization at the nanoscale. However, limited by factors such as source brightness, divergence angle, and focal spot size, the development of laboratory X-ray nano-imaging systems still faces many challenges. The ellipsoidal single-bounce mono-capillary condenser (ESMCC), as an efficient X-ray focusing optic, is a core basic component of synchrotron…

- The study included a comparative study of the contribution of nitric oxide (NO) and soluble guanylate cyclase (sGC) to hydrogen sulfide-mediated (H2S) dilation of the pial arteries in Sprague-Dawley rats aged 4 and 18 months. In vivo micrography was used to study dilatory responses of arteries ranging in size from 8 to 86 microns to the effect of H2S donor (sodium hydrosulfide solution, NaHS, 3·1…
- Synthesis, characterization, and anticancer activity of tuna bone gelatin peptide-stabilized selenium nanowires. [Journal Article]
- Organic selenium shows promise in cancer treatment due to its antioxidant properties, however, challenges like toxicity and instability hinder its efficacy. Herein, we aim to develop stable and less toxic selenium-chelated tuna bone gelatin peptides (TBGP@Se). TBGPs were extracted from tuna bones and chelated with selenium through a redox reaction. The resulting TBGP@Se was characterized to asses…

- Substituted cysteine modification and protection indicates selective interactions of the anesthetic photolabel pTFD-di-iPr-BnOH with α+/β- and α+/γ- transmembrane subunit interfaces of synaptic GABAA receptors. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: SCAMP results further support the hypothesis that pTFD-di-iPr-BnOH binds selectively in α+/β- and α+/γ- interfacial sites that are homologs of the β+/α- etomidate sites.

- Isolation and characterization of an antibiofilm bacteriophage against Klebsiella michiganensis and evaluation of its therapeutic potential in an insect larval gut colonization model. [Journal Article]
- BACKGROUND: Bacteriophages (phages) have therapeutic potential against AMR bacteria. Recently, Klebsiella michiganensis (a member of the Klebsiella oxytoca complex) was discovered. This pathogen is associated with nosocomial infection and sepsis and has the ability to neutralize the β-lactam class of antibiotics. This study focused on detailed characterization of the phage vB_KleM_kp20 (kp20) and…

- Background: Amlodipine besylate (AML) is recognized as a calcium channel blocker curative for hypertension. However, the drug emerged recently as an antibacterial cure that competently prevails over resistant strains. Methods: Incorporating amlodipine into zein nanoparticles was employed to innovate a suitable carrier for loading and targeting deep corneal infection. The Box-Behnken design was ad…

- Role of stele and cortex in understanding and predicting root tensile properties. [Journal Article]Ann Bot. 2025 Dec 08; 136(5-6):1065-1080.AB
- CONCLUSIONS: Our results demonstrated the actual mechanical behaviour characteristics of cortex and stele, and provide a new perspective for addressing the mechanical properties of roots using composite materials mechanics. The findings of this study will provide a theoretical foundation for implementing plant-based ecological restoration and disaster prevention measures.

- Single-shot capable surface acoustic wave dispersion measurement of a layered plate. [Journal Article]Rev Sci Instrum. 2025 Jul 01; 96(7).RS
- Established techniques for characterizing a layer on a substrate system via surface acoustic wave (SAW) dispersion measurement are often slow due to the need for scanning excitation or detection positions. We present a method for determining discrete points on the SAW mode at equidistant wavenumbers that requires only a single measurement, overcoming these speed limitations. A pulsed laser, shape…
