- Unintended consequences of vaginal misoprostol use in a patient with hydatidiform mole: A case report. [Case Reports]Medicine (Baltimore). 2026 Oct 09; 105(41):e50978.M
- CONCLUSIONS: This case illustrates the potential unintended consequences of using misoprostol in a patient with known molar pregnancy. Although complete expulsion of the molar tissue occurred, the subsequent development of postmolar gestational trophoblastic neoplasia and the need for multi-agent chemotherapy indicate that this should not be considered a favorable therapeutic outcome. Misoprostol should not be used for cervical ripening when hysterectomy is planned as the primary treatment for molar pregnancy. This case highlights the importance of avoiding inappropriate off-label use of misoprostol in the presence of molar tissue and emphasizes the need for careful post-evacuation β-hCG surveillance regardless of the initial clinical outcome.

- Regulatory Policy Changes and Mifepristone Access Through Pharmacies in Australia. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: In this cohort study of pharmacy orders for mifepristone-misoprostol in Australia, the removal of prescribing and dispensing restrictions on mifepristone in August 2023 was associated with improved access through pharmacies. These findings support removing similar distribution restrictions on mifepristone in other countries, including the US.

- Pregnancy termination outside the formal healthcare system before Dobbs: Consideration and attempts among abortion seekers in Mississippi. [Journal Article]Soc Sci Med. 2026 Sep 19; 409:119847. [Online ahead of print]SS
- Research on abortion outside formal healthcare has focused primarily on self-sourced medication abortion (mifepristone and misoprostol or misoprostol alone). Less is known about how abortion seekers understand other pregnancy-ending practices, including non-evidence-based methods such as herbs, vitamins, alcohol, or physical stress. We examine how abortion seekers in pre-Dobbs Mississippi learned…

- Effect of improved uterotonic availability on postpartum hemorrhage and maternal morbidity after vaginal delivery, review of a single-center quality-improvement initiative. [Journal Article]

- More than a pinch: a review of pain management during intrauterine device placement. [Journal Article]Curr Opin Obstet Gynecol. 2026 Sep 24. [Online ahead of print]CO
- CONCLUSIONS: Effective pain management for IUD placement likely requires a multimodal, patient-centered approach that addresses both physiologic and psychological contributors to pain. Future research should prioritize standardized outcome measures, comparative effectiveness studies, and implementation and cost-effectiveness analyses to inform equitable integration of evidence-based pain management strategies for IUD insertions.

- CONCLUSIONS: No statistically significant association was observed between cervical ripening method and self-reported health status at 3 months postpartum. These findings should be interpreted cautiously given the limited sample size and observational design.

- Innovative Compounded Topical Powder for Post-Digital Amputation Care: A Clinical Case Study in Wound Healing. [Case Reports]Int J Pharm Compd. 2026 Jul-Aug; 30(4):311-319.IJ
- Diabetes is a leading global cause of mortality and disability, with foot complications often resulting in amputation. Digital (toe) amputations are particularly common due to neuropathy, ischemia, and infection, and are frequently followed by delayed healing. This case describes a 66-year-old diabetic male who underwent multiple toe amputations on his right foot. Despite successful surgery, woun…
- Maternal and Fetal Outcomes of Contemporary Obstetric Interventions: A Systematic Review. [Review]
- Labour and delivery interventions play an important role in maternal and neonatal care, particularly when labour progress is delayed, fetal well-being is uncertain, or high-risk obstetric conditions are present. Current literature often examines these interventions separately, whereas clinical practice typically involves overlapping decisions regarding induction, augmentation, monitoring, caesare…

- Management of Early Pregnancy Loss: Reproductive Outcome in Subsequent Euploid Embryo Transfers. [Journal Article]
- Early pregnancy loss (EPL) is commonly managed with medical or surgical intervention, with comparable outcomes described in the general population. However, intrauterine instrumentation including dilation and curettage has been linked to endometrial thinning, associated with inferior in vitro fertilization (IVF) outcomes. Limited data exists on how EPL management influences subsequent IVF outcome…

- Efficacy of Sublingual Misoprostol Versus Intravenous Tranexamic Acid in Reducing Blood Loss Among Full-Term Pregnant Women Undergoing Primary Lower Segment Caesarean Section: A Randomized Controlled Trial. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: Sublingual 600 µg misoprostol was more effective than 1 g intravenous tranexamic acid in reducing intraoperative blood loss during primary LSCS. It was associated with a smaller postoperative decline in haemoglobin and a reduced need for additional uterotonic agents and blood transfusion, while maintaining an acceptable safety profile. These findings support the use of sublingual misoprostol as an effective and economical option for preventing excessive blood loss during primary LSCS.

- Impact of Family Planning Program on Related Drug Consumption in Iran: A Ten-Year Trend Analysis (2014 - 2023). [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: Although the Family Support and Population Rejuvenation Law expanded access to infertility medicines, it did not reduce contraceptive or abortifacient use. Shifts in consumption patterns suggest that regulatory restrictions alone may result in unintended consequences, including clandestine abortion and neonatal complications. A more balanced, evidence-based policy approach is essential to align demographic goals with maternal and newborn health.
