- A retrospective study of 143 cases of ventricular septal defects in cattle aged under 12 months. [Journal Article]J Vet Med Sci. 2026 Oct 06. [Online ahead of print]JV
- To identify factors that influence the severity of clinical signs associated with ventricular septal defect (VSD) in calves, the clinical and pathological findings of 143 confirmed cases in animals under 12 months of age were retrospectively reviewed. Observed clinical signs included emaciation (92.3%), reduced vitality (83.9%), respiratory signs (77.6%), anorexia (74.1%), exercise intolerance (6…

- Left atrial mural infective endocarditis complicated by coronary embolism and left ventricular myocardial infarction in a cat. [Journal Article]J Vet Cardiol. 2026 Sep 17; 68:86-93. [Online ahead of print]JV
- A three-year-old female Devon Rex was referred for postpartum complications. On presentation, physical examination revealed depression, hypothermia, pale mucous membranes and a grade II/VI left apical systolic murmur. Laboratory tests showed severe non-regenerative anaemia, moderate leucocytosis and increased cardiac troponin I (4.16 ng/mL; upper hospital limit <0.2 ng/mL). Transthoracic echocard…

- All-fiber wireless auscultation garment for cardiopulmonary diagnostics. [Journal Article]
- Daily apparel could enable continuous, noninvasive monitoring of cardiopulmonary health for the early detection and treatment of cardiopulmonary diseases, the leading causes of death and disability worldwide. Here we develop an all-fiber wireless auscultation system seamlessly integrated into garments. An ~150-μm-diameter fiber contact microphone is sewn, knitted or woven into clothing to capture…

- Transverse infundibulotomy for resection of a right ventricular outflow tract myxoma. [Case Reports]Multimed Man Cardiothorac Surg. 2026 Sep 30; 2026.MM
- A 25-year-old asymptomatic 64 kg female with an incidental heart murmur was found, on echocardiography, to have a 2 cm echogenic mass beneath the pulmonary valve, with a peak gradient of 11 mmHg and mild pulmonic regurgitation. Gated computed tomography angiogram showed that the mass was located within the infundibulum of the right ventricle, beneath the non-adjacent leaflet of the pulmonary valv…

- Case Report: Zero-fluoroscopy retrograde transcatheter closure of a ruptured Sinus of valsalva guided by transesophageal echocardiography. [Case Reports]
- CONCLUSIONS: This case demonstrates the technical feasibility of a fully TEE-guided, zero fluoroscopy, retrograde transcatheter closure of RSOV in patients with favorable anatomy. This approach reduces radiation and contrast exposure without altering the short-term procedural success.

- Iatrogenic ventricular septal defect following papillary muscle premature ventricular contraction ablation: a case report. [Case Reports]
- Catheter ablation of monomorphic premature ventricular contractions (PVCs) in symptomatic or haemodynamically compromised patients has a Class I recommendation in cardiomyopathy and a Class IIa recommendation in patients comprising non-outflow tract PVC morphology and a physiologic anatomy according to current ESC guidelines. It is therefore widely performed and generally considered safe. Rare bu…

- Late Presentation of Lutembacher Syndrome with Severe Pulmonary Hypertension and Tricuspid Regurgitation Complicated by Lower Respiratory Tract Infection in an Elderly Female: A Fatal Case Report. [Journal Article]Ann Afr Med. 2026 Sep 25. [Online ahead of print]AA
- Lutembacher syndrome is a rare clinical entity, characterized by the coexistence of atrial septal defect and mitral stenosis. The hemodynamic interplay between these lesions often delays symptom onset, making late presentations uncommon. Advanced disease may result in severe pulmonary hypertension, right heart failure, and poor clinical outcomes, especially when compounded by superimposed infecti…

- Longitudinal Changes in Wearable-Captured Physiology Before Sudden Cardiac Death. [Case Reports]JACC Case Rep. 2026 Sep 25; :110397. [Online ahead of print]JC
- CONCLUSIONS: The key signal was not any single abnormal value but a coordinated, sustained step-change from the patient's own baseline that preceded imaging. Data of this kind could complement the episodic measurements cardiovascular care now relies on, informing both when to re-evaluate patients with known heart disease and how wearable heart-rate kinetics might guide their exercise.Embedding continuous digital physiology monitoring into traditional cardiology has the potential to aid clinicians in timely evaluation and intervention.

- Coexistence of Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy and Hereditary Transthyretin Amyloid Cardiomyopathy. [Case Reports]
- CONCLUSIONS: This case highlights the diagnostic complexity of coexisting HCM and hereditary ATTR cardiomyopathy and underscores the importance of multimodality imaging, genetic testing, and pathologic correlation.Dynamic left ventricular outflow tract obstruction does not exclude cardiac amyloidosis. Dual cardiomyopathies should be considered when clinical, imaging, and genetic findings appear discordant.

- Economic Impact of Echocardiography Use in the Follow-Up of Small and Small to Moderate Size Muscular Ventricular Septal Defects. [Journal Article]
- Follow-up echocardiograms are not recommended for small and small to moderate size muscular ventricular septal defects (mVSDs). Our purpose in this single center retrospective cohort study was to describe practice variation in echocardiogram utilization in the follow-up of small and small to moderate mVSDs diagnosed at ≤ 6 months of age and assess factors associated with variation. Demographic an…

- Tricuspid valve dysplasia (TVD) is a congenital cardiac malformation in dogs characterized by abnormal tricuspid valve morphology, leaflet tethering, impaired leaflet coaptation, and right atrial and ventricular remodelling. This report describes cone reconstruction for severe TVD in a dog. A three-year-and-10-month-old female Labrador retriever presented with a grade IV/VI systolic murmur and ex…

- [Anomalous origin of the right pulmonary artery: Non-invasive diagnosis and early surgery]. [Case Reports]
- CONCLUSIONS: This case supports the usefulness of echocardiography and computed tomography angiography as tools for accurate anatomical diagnosis and based on each individual case for planning treatment. Furthermore, it reaffirms that, based on the specific anatomical characteristics of each case, direct reimplantation is not always the surgical technique of choice.

- Favorable maternal and neonatal outcomes in probable Eisenmenger physiology with suspected DORV: a case report and literature review. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: This report documents maternal survival through induced vaginal delivery and the first postpartum week, with a live birth, despite late recognition of probable Eisenmenger physiology and suspected complex congenital heart disease. The report does not establish the safety of vaginal delivery in Eisenmenger syndrome, and incomplete haemodynamic, anatomical, anaesthetic, and neonatal data limit causal interpretation.

- Three-dimensional transthoracic echocardiographic visualization of an aorto-left ventricular tunnel: a case report. [Case Reports]
- Aorto-left ventricular tunnel (ALVT) is a rare congenital cardiac defect consisting of an extracardiac communication between the ascending aorta and the left ventricle. It may mimic aortic regurgitation, particularly when an eccentric diastolic jet and a systodiastolic murmur are present. Accurate anatomical delineation is essential to distinguish tunnel flow from valvular regurgitation and to gu…
