- Comparative performance of multiple predictive models constructed for budesonide nebulized formulation requirements. [Journal Article]Front Pharmacol. 2026; 17:1937185.FP
- CONCLUSIONS: The TBATS-XGB hybrid model can serve as a valuable reference for NCVBP drug quantity forecasting, addressing the limitations of conventional empirical estimation methods that often fail to capture structural changes and seasonal fluctuations in demand. Moreover, because it requires only historical usage data for deployment, this approach may be highly generalizable to hospital settings with limited data infrastructure.

- Perspectives on inhaled medicines in the CFTR modulator era: A national survey of adults with cystic fibrosis. [Journal Article]J Cyst Fibros. 2026 Oct 10. [Online ahead of print]JC
- CONCLUSIONS: The impact of CFTRm on the perceived importance of inhaled medicines is variable amongst pwCF. Whilst population-level evidence regarding the clinical impact of reducing inhaled medicines regimens for PwCF taking CFTRm is awaited, clinicians should be aware of the variation in patient perspective during the process of shared decision-making and individualisation of care.

- Preoperative risk stratification for pulmonary complications after neoadjuvant therapy and esophagectomy in locally advanced esophageal squamous cell carcinoma: a retrospective cohort study. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: A model based on five preoperatively available variables showed acceptable performance for PPC risk stratification after neoadjuvant therapy and esophagectomy in locally advanced ESCC. The nomogram may support individualized preoperative risk estimation, but external validation and prospective impact assessment are required before clinical implementation.

- Lemierre Syndrome After Influenza A Virus Infection. [Case Reports]
- Lemierre syndrome is a rare condition characterized by septic thrombophlebitis of the internal jugular vein with metastatic septic emboli, most commonly affecting the lungs. We report a case of Lemierre syndrome temporally associated with influenza A infection in a previously healthy 21-year-old male. The patient initially presented to the emergency department with severe headache and tested posi…

- Initial nebulized budesonide versus a local off-label nebulized dexamethasone protocol in children with institution-defined grade III croup receiving epinephrine: a retrospective cohort study. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: Initial nebulized budesonide was associated with faster documented recovery than the local off-label nebulized-dexamethasone protocol after adjustment for measured pretreatment variables. This comparison does not address standard oral, intramuscular, or intravenous dexamethasone therapy and should be interpreted as an adjusted observational association.

- CAGE ionic liquid-mediated co-solubilization of lapatinib and resveratrol enhances cytotoxicity in lung cancer cells with uniform aerosolization for pulmonary delivery. [Journal Article]J Pharm Sci. 2026 Oct 07; :104534. [Online ahead of print]JP
- Choline and geranic acid-based ionic liquids (CAGE-IL) have emerged as powerful delivery vehicles for many challenging drug molecules via different routes of administration. However, their potential for aerosol delivery has not been reported. In this study, CAGE-IL is investigated for its ability to solubilise a combination of lapatinib ditosylate (LPT) and resveratrol (RSV) as a potential vehicl…

- Nebulized Polygonum cuspidatum-derived nanovesicles loaded with dexamethasone synergistically ameliorate acute lung injury via metabolic-immune reprogramming. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: This dual intervention effectively promoted a reparative immune microenvironment while exhibiting excellent systemic safety. These results establish PcDNs@Dex as a promising, multi-target strategy that integrates targeted delivery with synergistic bioactivity for managing inflammatory lung diseases.

- Case Report: Nebulized autologous platelet-rich plasma associated with quantitative CT and clinical changes in a patient with COPD and chronic hypersensitivity pneumonitis. [Case Reports]
- CONCLUSIONS: To our knowledge, this is the first report describing serial qCT assessment alongside physiological and patient-reported outcomes following nebulized autologous PRP in an individual with COPD and chronic hypersensitivity pneumonitis. Although causality cannot be established from a single case, the findings across multiple outcome domains warrant further investigation in prospectively designed studies.

- Nebulized inhalation of exosomes from human umbilical cord mesenchymal stem cells alleviates bleomycin-induced pulmonary fibrosis through tsRNA cargos. [Journal Article]Tissue Cell. 2026 Oct 05; 104(Pt 3):104021. [Online ahead of print]TC
- CONCLUSIONS: This study primarily demonstrated that hUCMSC-EXOs carry tsRNAs that potentially target HSPB1, SOD3, SRSF1, and SRSF6, influencing VEGF, MAPK, and IL-17 signaling pathways. As a proof of concept, nebulized inhalation of hUCMSC-EXOs attenuated bleomycin-induced early fibrotic changes in mice.

- Inhaled Heparin to Shorten Antibiotic Duration in Ventilator-Associated Pneumonia: A Randomized Double-Blind Controlled Trial. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: Adjunctive nebulized heparin (40,000 IU/day) significantly shortens antibiotic duration and improves clinical recovery in VAP without increasing adverse events. However, given the single-center design and modest sample size, our results require confirmation in future multicenter trials with optimum heparin doses and comprehensive biomarker panels to better elucidate the mechanisms of action and establish the definitive role of inhaled heparin in antimicrobial stewardship.

- Initiation of inhaled antibiotic therapy in chronic airway diseases: the REPAIR registry. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: In routine clinical practice, initiation of IAT in chronic airway diseases appears predominantly microbiology-driven. Although most patients start treatment under stable conditions, a substantial proportion initiate IAT during exacerbation or early convalescence, indicating that clinical instability remains an important trigger for treatment initiation in real-world practice.

- Safety and pharmacokinetics of inhaled aloxistatin: A first-in-human phase 1 dose escalation trial. [Journal Article]Br J Clin Pharmacol. 2026 Oct 04. [Online ahead of print]BJ
- CONCLUSIONS: Single ascending doses of inhaled E64d were generally well tolerated in healthy male volunteers. Inhalation resulted in rapid, transient systemic exposure to E64d followed by measurable formation of E64c. These findings provide a safety and pharmacokinetic basis for further investigation of inhaled aloxistatin.

- Timing of nebulized colistimethate sodium following bronchodilator airway conditioning in hospital-acquired pneumonia: a target trial emulation study. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: Timely initiation of nebulized CMS within a defined post-bronchodilator window was associated with higher microbiological clearance and reduced persistent infection, without increased airway adverse events. These findings are hypothesis-generating and require prospective validation, particularly with respect to patient-centered outcomes.
