- Experience-based recommendations for the diagnosis and management of early-stage nail unit melanoma. [Journal Article]J Eur Acad Dermatol Venereol. 2026 Oct 13. [Online ahead of print]JE
- CONCLUSIONS: Early diagnosis and treatment of nail unit melanoma at the in situ or minimally invasive stage (IA/IB) are associated with high cure rates. In contrast, advanced disease with deep invasion or metastasis carries a poor prognosis-therefore, timely recognition and intervention are essential to optimize outcomes.

- The Inverted Sign: Rule-In, Rule-Out, and the Epistemology of the Red Flag. [Journal Article]J Eval Clin Pract. 2026 Oct; 32(7):e70674.JE
- CONCLUSIONS: The distinctive object is a decision architecture connecting evidence to permission not to investigate. Its limits become clearer when validated rule-out instruments are distinguished from mixed warning checklists and their practical function is separated from their probabilistic properties.

- Could School Function Be an Adolescent Health Vital Sign? Associations Between Gradebook Data and Substance Use Among Middle School Students. [Journal Article]J Sch Health. 2026 Oct; 96(10):e70261.JS
- CONCLUSIONS: Schools, families, and health systems may leverage increasingly digitized school data to identify and support youth even where traditional modes of screening are limited.

- Diagnostic Terminology and Clinical Practice in Interstitial Ectopic Pregnancy: A Five-Year Clinical Audit. [Journal Article]
- Background Interstitial ectopic pregnancy is rare and carries risks of rupture and severe haemorrhage. Accurate terminology is important because interstitial and cornual pregnancy are often used interchangeably despite representing distinct implantation sites. The primary objective of this five-year audit was to assess compliance with anatomically precise diagnostic terminology. Secondary objecti…

- Childhood Rosacea: Clinical, Diagnostic, and Therapeutic Insights into an Underestimated Pediatric Condition. [Review]Dermatol Pract Concept. 2026 Jul 31; 16(3).DP
- CONCLUSIONS: Rosacea may also occur in children. Therapeutic options do not significantly differ from those in adults; however, they must be adjusted to the child's age.

- Predictors of Difficult Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy in Adults in a Nigerian Tertiary Hospital. [Review]
- CONCLUSIONS: The low rate of postoperative complications and conversion to open procedure despite the significant DLC rate indicates that with improved expertise/skills of the surgeon, safe LC is feasible and could become the main approach for cholecystectomy in Nigeria.

- Delayed standard care in diabetic foot ulcers: the roles of initial response pathways and non-professional health information. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: Delayed care reflected risk under-recognition, non-standard action, and competing information rather than inaction. Warning-sign education, service guidance, critical appraisal of health information, and structured amputation decision support may improve timely care.

- Clinical characteristics of pneumorrhachis in dogs and cats: a retrospective study of 125 cases. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: Pneumorrhachis in dogs and cats is considered an uncommon CT finding occurring with neurological and non-neurological conditions. Although often accompanying IVDD in dogs, PR was frequently incidental.

- Hyperintense Vessel Sign on High-Resolution Vessel Wall MRI and Perfusion Decompensation in Intracranial Atherosclerotic Disease: Burden Versus Proximal Extent. [Journal Article]Acad Radiol. 2026 Oct 09. [Online ahead of print]AR
- CONCLUSIONS: HVS score provides an exploratory screening cutoff, whereas proximal HVS extension into M1-M2 is strongly associated with decompensation; distal-limited HVS with local collateral formation marks compensation. Prospective multicenter validation is required before clinical implementation.

- Associations of Self-Reported Bruxism With Clinical Parameters, Perceived Stress, and Temporomandibular Disorders in Dental Students. [Journal Article]J Oral Rehabil. 2026 Oct 08. [Online ahead of print]JO
- CONCLUSIONS: Tooth wear was the most frequently observed clinical sign. Self-reported bruxism was associated with orofacial pain intensity and TMD symptoms, but not with clinical bruxism signs, suggesting that subject-based data and clinical assessment may reflect different aspects of bruxism.

- Emergency Department Visits for Falls and First-Time Seizure. [Journal Article]Neurology. 2026 Nov 10; 107(9):e218597.Neur
- CONCLUSIONS: ED visits for falls are more common immediately preceding first-time seizure, potentially representing missed opportunities for earlier diagnosis, evaluation, and intervention. Prospective studies are needed to clarify the underlying mechanisms and clinical implications.

- Headache among patients undergoing cardiac stress testing: Prevalence, clinical characteristics, and identification of myocardial ischemia. [Journal Article]Headache. 2026 Oct 08. [Online ahead of print]H
- CONCLUSIONS: Headache occurred in approximately one in 10 patients undergoing TMT, with a similar prevalence among TMT-positive and TMT-negative patients. Cardiac cephalalgia was identified in a small but clinically important subset of patients with myocardial ischemia based on reproduction of headache during stress testing, objective evidence of ischemia, and angiographic confirmation of CAD. Recognition of cardiac cephalalgia is important because treatment of the underlying CAD can substantially improve or resolve headache.

- RC-Mamba: regime-conditioned selective state-space models for probabilistic time-series forecasting. [Journal Article]
- Selective state-space models (SSMs) such as Mamba achieve linear-time sequence modeling through input-dependent recurrence, yet they apply the same dynamics regardless of the latent regime generating the data-a structural mismatch for non-stationary signals whose statistics shift abruptly between regimes. We introduce RC-Mamba, a probabilistic forecaster whose selective-SSM backbone is dynamicall…

- Social isolation, loneliness, and blood-based AD/ADRD biomarkers in a nationally-representative study of middle-aged and older adults. [Journal Article]medRxiv. 2026 Aug 10.M
- CONCLUSIONS: Social isolation was associated with elevated blood-based biomarkers of neuronal injury, with variation by patterns of exposure over time. Associations between social isolation and loneliness with biomarkers related to astrocyte damage and Alzheimer's disease were less consistent, and varied in sign and magnitude by exposure and sex.
